Chapter 320: Chapter 320 When you calm down, I’ll let them in.

Huo Xuan nodded, "So it’s Teacher Cheng."

Aunt Wang was stunned for a moment and then came to her senses, her smile becoming even brighter, "So you know each other, what a coincidence."

Cheng Zhiwei turned her head to look at Cheng Zhiyin, asking with her eyes what was going on.

Before Cheng Zhiyin could speak, Huo Xuan had already taken the initiative to explain, "Not long ago, my little nephew almost ran onto the road, and it was Teacher Cheng who pulled him back. I wanted to thank Teacher Cheng afterward, but when I went to look for her, she was gone."

Cheng Zhiwei immediately frowned, worriedly asking, "How come you didn’t tell me about such a big thing, did you get hurt?"

Cheng Zhiyin showed her arm with a helpless lift, "Just a minor scratch, look, it’s already healed."

Huo Xuan adjusted his glasses with a laugh, "Chance meetings are better than invitations, Teacher Cheng, I must properly thank you today."

Aunt Wang simply picked up her bag, "Since you know each other, that makes things easy. Take your time chatting, I won’t join in on the young people’s gathering, I’m off to pick up my grandson."

And with that, she was off.

The table fell silent all of a sudden.

Huo Xuan called the waiter to order dishes, inquired about Cheng Zhiyin’s preferences, and she said anything would do, then he asked Cheng Zhiwei.

"She doesn’t eat ginger," Zhou Lin said indifferently, his fingers caressing the teacup, his demeanor relaxed, as if he was making an offhand remark.

Huo Xuan’s fingers paused, puzzledly asking, "You two?"

Cheng Zhiwei looked at Huo Xuan, the confusion in his eyes didn’t seem feigned, but as Zhou Lin’s friend, he should know who she was, right?

Another pretentious one?

Cheng Zhiyin held Cheng Zhiwei’s hand tightly, about to speak out, but Cheng Zhiwei had already taken the initiative, "Ex-husband."

Two words, concise and to the point.

Huo Xuan raised an eyebrow with some surprise, but clearly, he knew something as his gaze flickered slightly, "So this is the woman your family forced you to marry."

Zhou Lin gave him a cold glance, lifting the corner of his lips slightly, not saying anything.

Throughout the meal, it was Huo Xuan who did most of the talking. Cheng Zhiyin was polite and courteous in her responses, while Cheng Zhiwei and Zhou Lin didn’t speak again.

Halfway through the meal, He Ye’s call came through, "Zhiwei, where are you?"

His voice was as gentle as ever, but Cheng Zhiwei immediately sensed something was off and calmly replied, "I’m out having dinner with my sister, what’s up?"

"Nothing, just happened to pass by and saw you, look outside," He Ye’s cheerful voice came through.

Cheng Zhiwei turned her head and saw him waving at her.

She smiled softly, hung up the phone, and said to the others at the table, "Excuse me, I’ll be right back."

With that, she left.

The faint smile on Zhou Lin’s lips slowly faded away.

Huo Xuan asked, "Who was that?"

Cheng Zhiyin replied sarcastically, "My younger sister’s boyfriend."

"Ah?" Huo Xuan exclaimed, while also expressing his sympathy to Zhou Lin, "Do you need me to introduce another girlfriend to you?"

Zhou Lin drained the wine from his glass in one gulp, his tone sarcastic, "You don’t even have a girlfriend yourself, worrying about others’ business, are you full and have nothing better to do?"

Huo Xuan shrugged and fell silent.

Outside, Cheng Zhiwei stood in front of He Ye, her smile brimming, "Why did you come here?"

He Ye tenderly tucked her loose hair behind her ear and gave her a gentle hug, "I suddenly remembered that Xingxing really likes the cakes here, so I thought I’d buy some and take them to your place. I just happened to pass by here and saw you."

He paused, his tone still carrying a hint of jealousy, "Why is he here?"

If it weren’t for seeing Zhou Lin, he wouldn’t have disturbed Cheng Zhiwei.

But the moment he saw Cheng Zhiwei and Zhou Lin together, he couldn’t help feeling jealous.

And he just wanted to ask.

"Jealous?" Cheng Zhiwei deliberately teased him.

He Ye raised his eyebrows, his voice warm and gentle with a light laugh, "Isn’t jealousy a normal reaction for a boyfriend?"

At that moment, Zhou Lin inside suddenly looked upset as he hung up the phone, apologized with a "sorry," and quickly left.

Simultaneously, Cheng Zhiwei’s phone rang. She answered it and within half a minute, her face turned pale, and she turned and ran outside.

He Ye hadn’t even reacted when Cheng Zhiwei had already been grabbed by the suddenly appearing Zhou Lin by the wrist.

Zhou Lin, while holding her tightly, made a call, "Bring the car around, right now."

He Ye clenched the paper bag in his hand and followed, blocking Zhou Lin firmly, "President Zhou, what are you doing?"

As he finished speaking, he saw Cheng Zhiwei’s face full of tears and froze, "Zhiwei?"

The car stopped by the roadside.

Zhou Lin dragged Cheng Zhiwei into the back seat, and as He Ye tried to intervene, Zhou Lin pushed him away and followed into the back seat.

The car sped away quickly.

Cheng Zhiyin and Huo Xuan had already come out, watching the departing car. Cheng Zhiyin asked anxiously, "What happened?"

He Ye pressed his lips tightly, his voice somewhat cold, "I don’t know."

Cheng Zhiyin sighed. She knew something must have scared Cheng Zhiwei for her to choose to leave with Zhou Lin. She didn’t want Cheng Zhiwei and He Ye to have a conflict over a misunderstanding, so she took the initiative, "I’ll call Zhiwei."

After a minute, she said, "To the police station."

He Ye looked bewildered, "The police station?"

...

As soon as Cheng Zhiwei got into the car, she couldn’t control the shaking that coursed through her. She hugged her shoulders, trying hard to control her emotions, but the more she tried, the harder she shook.

She bit her lip hard, her eyes moist.

Zhou Lin extended his hand, his emotions in his eyes churning fiercely, but in the end, he still pulled her into his embrace, his chin resting on the top of her head, holding her tight.

"Don’t be scared, Zhiwei, I’m here," he comforted in a hoarse voice.

Cheng Zhiwei let out a sob, her voice trembling severely, "If it’s true... if it’s true... then I..."

"Don’t worry, I’m here," Zhou Lin pulled her closer, "Trust me."

The next second, she pushed him away.

Cheng Zhiwei curled up at the edge of the door, her eyes closed, her voice aloof, "Don’t come near me."

Zhou Lin still maintained his embrace, the sudden emptiness making his heart ache sharply, and his hand curled back.

Suppressing the surge of intense emotions, he spoke in a muted voice, "Alright, I won’t come near you, just calm down."

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t say anything more.

When she got out of the car, Cheng Zhiwei’s legs gave way, and she stumbled a bit. Zhou Lin reached out to help her, but she had already steadied herself against the car and then hurriedly stumbled inside.

She nearly fell several times.

Zhou Lin couldn’t stand watching this, he strode forward, caught up to her in a few steps, and carried her straight into the reception room.

"President Zhou." The waiting police officers were dumbfounded, their gaze shifting from Cheng Zhiwei to Zhou Lin, "Do you need any help?"

"Bring in a cup of hot water," Zhou Lin said, kicking open a chair and setting Cheng Zhiwei down.

The hot water was brought in, and Zhou Lin sent the person away.

Cheng Zhiwei looked at him with teary eyes, barely standing while leaning on the table, and clenched her fists, "Zhou Lin, what do you want?"

"Sit down and drink the water."

"Zhou Lin."

"Whenever you calm down, I’ll let them come in."
