Chapter 310: Zhou Lin, He is Your Responsibility

Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Zhou Lin, He is Your Responsibility

However, with some careful thought, she could easily understand what was going on; Seo Zhenzhen must have instructed the servants to inform Zhou Ruoki immediately after the incident, thus using Zhou Ruoki to gain a little opportunity.

She certainly thought far ahead for herself.

But Zhou Lin would not change his mind just because of a few words from a child.

Seo Zhenzhen thought wrong.

"Daddy," Zhou Ruoki cautiously walked up to Zhou Lin, gently tugging at his clothes with a pleading look, "Daddy, when are we going to find Mommy?"

"Mommy is fine, she just... will be back soon," Zhou Lin offhandedly made up an excuse to put off Zhou Ruoki.

But Zhou Ruoki wouldn’t listen; he was convinced something had happened to his mother.

"Mommy really got taken away by the bad guys," Zhou Ruoki’s little mouth quivered as he started crying again, "Daddy."

He called out weakly, his eyes filled with entreaty, "Daddy, I want Mommy."

Zhou Lin had a headache.

From the time Zhou Ruoki was born, he had been in the care of nannies and servants, and Lin Yu had been with him; Zhou Lin had never taken an active role, especially with a crying child, which he had no experience with.

All he could do was look on with a stern face, "Qiqi, I’ve already told you, stop crying."

Zhou Ruoki, unlike before, cried even louder.

The kind that involves wailing.

"I want Mommy."

Zhou Lin held back and held back, then crouched down to try to reason with Zhou Ruoki, "Qiqi, don’t you remember how Mommy pinched and hit you?"

Zhou Ruoki’s pupils were dark and shining, "I don’t blame Mommy."

Zhou Lin choked, uncertain what to say for a moment.

He had no choice but to call Secretary Zhang to send Zhang Xiaoman over.

Zhang Xiaoman had taken care of Zhou Ruoki for a while, and Zhou Ruoki liked her very much. Later, when Zhou Lin considered sending Zhou Ruoki and Seo Zhenzhen abroad, he kept Seo Zhenzhen by Zhou Ruoki’s side for a few days and then asked Zhang Xiaoman to leave.

However, it would take some time for Zhang Xiaoman to arrive, and Zhou Ruoki was crying so hard he was almost about to pass out.

Zhou Lin was at a loss.

Cheng Zhiwei watched from the stairs for a long time, unable to bear it any longer, she came down, "Let me do it."

The heart of a mother is always the softest, and Cheng Zhiwei could not bear to hear the child’s hiccupping sobs.

She had already changed into a set of home clothes, her hair casually tied in a ponytail at the back of her head, and her outfit was a soft, warm, pale pink color.

She took a tissue and carefully wiped Zhou Ruoki’s tears, soothing him in a low, gentle voice, "Qiqi, be good, no more crying, otherwise Mommy will be sad when she sees you."

Zhou Ruoki bit his lip, turned his head to avoid her, and looked at Cheng Zhiwei with a wary gaze.

In his mind, this gentle aunt was here to take away his daddy, so he didn’t like Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei, however, acted as if she hadn’t noticed his little movement, only sitting patiently by his side, "Do you still remember me, Qiqi? I’m Xingxing’s mommy, do you remember Xingxing? She gave you a piece of chocolate."

Zhou Ruoki hesitated briefly, then nodded.

A child’s attention is always easily diverted, offering something of interest to them or speaking words they like to hear can work.

Cheng Zhiwei knew Zhou Ruoki liked Cheng Xing, so she used Cheng Xing to distract him.

"Do you remember Xingxing having a fever last time?" Cheng Zhiwei led Zhou Ruoki to speak bit by bit.

Zhou Ruoki quietly asked, "Is she better now?"

"She’s much better now," Cheng Zhiwei gently stroked his little head, "Xingxing said she doesn’t blame you; she knows you’ve been unhappy. It’s okay, Xingxing said, once she’s feeling a little better, she’ll come to play with you."

Zhou Ruoki’s crying stopped.

In the living room flowed gently the patient and tender voice of Cheng Zhiwei.

Unhurried and calm.

The woman’s grace and maternal warmth were fully embodied in her.

Zhou Lin lowered his gaze, his heart throbbed fiercely, wishing time could stand still at this moment.

Just then, Lin Yu called, reminding Zhou Lin to prepare something for Zhou Ruoki to eat, as the child hadn’t eaten all day.

"I’ll go," said Cheng Zhiwei as she went into the kitchen, picked a couple of light dishes from the table, and warmed them up for Zhou Ruoki.

Zhou Ruoki ate slowly, but his eyes kept falling on Zhou Lin with tears in them.

Zhou Lin stepped out for a smoke.

When he came back in, Secretary Zhang had arrived, bringing Zhang Xiaoman with her.

"Qiqi," Zhang Xiaoman had patience in spades for Zhou Ruoki, caressed his little face, then picked him up to feed him.

Cheng Zhiwei watched, her brows slightly furrowed, and said as if it didn’t really matter, "He can eat by himself."

Although Zhou Ruoki was only three years old, his way of holding chopsticks was very proper, and he ate politely, not needing an adult to feed him at all.

Zhang Xiaoman laughed it off, "No problem, I raised our family’s nephew this way too."

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t know what to say, so she just nodded and left.

In the outside living room, Secretary Zhang was speaking, "The plane tickets have been booked; tomorrow at ten in the morning. Everything has been arranged."

"Okay, I got it."

Cheng Zhiwei suddenly remembered Zhou Lin mentioning he would send Zhou Ruoki abroad, and an unconscious discomfort took hold of her heart; she couldn’t help asking, "Are you really planning to send him away?"

Zhou Lin’s gaze was heavy, "Yeah."

Cheng Zhiwei’s temper flared suddenly and she frowned fiercely, "Zhou Lin, he’s still so young, how can you bear it?"

Zhou Lin fell silent. He was sending Zhou Ruoki away because Ruoki’s mother was Seo Zhenzhen, who didn’t treat Ruoki well, yet Ruoki was deeply attached to her.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fingers, trying to reason with Zhou Lin, "He’s so young, even if you don’t want to take care of him yourself, you could arrange for the housekeepers to do so. And there are uncles and aunts who would definitely be willing to take care of him, there’s no need to send him abroad."

Such a decision seemed both cold-blooded and cruel.

Seo Zhenzhen was unforgivable, but Zhou Ruoki was innocent.

"Zhiwei, I’m doing this for..." Zhou Lin sighed, wanting to explain.

"No matter what you’re doing this for, you shouldn’t send him away," Cheng Zhiwei raised her voice suddenly, but remembering that Zhou Ruoki was eating nearby, she quickly suppressed it again.

"Zhou Lin, he is your responsibility."

"President Zhou, Qiqi doesn’t feel well," came Zhang Xiaoman’s anxious voice.

Cheng Zhiwei quickly went to Zhou Ruoki’s side, "Qiqi, what’s wrong?"

Zhou Ruoki, feeling uncomfortable, covered his mouth; he seemed to want to speak, but as soon as he moved his hand away, he vomited.

Cheng Zhiwei, right in front of him, was splattered with vomit.

The foul smell rushed to meet her.

Zhou Lin’s face changed, "Zhiwei."

But Cheng Zhiwei didn’t find it dirty at all; she gently patted Zhou Ruoki’s back and said softly, "If you feel like vomiting, just let it out, don’t hold it in."

Zhou Ruoki vomited his guts out and collapsed, limply, into Cheng Zhiwei’s arms.

As soon as Cheng Zhiwei was close to him, her voice changed immediately, "He has a fever."
