The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 31 I’ve Had Enough, Cheng Zhiwei

Chapter 31: Chapter 31 I’ve Had Enough, Cheng Zhiwei

Cheng Zhiwei’s question went unanswered by Secretary Zhang, who could only say, "Young President Zhou went to a meeting early in the morning, and doesn’t know about this matter."

"He saved me, and I am grateful, but that is a separate issue, Secretary Zhang. Thank you for telling me all this, but I have to leave now for another matter." Cheng Zhiwei turned and entered the elevator.

Zhou Lin didn’t know at first, and he still doesn’t know now?

It’s merely retaliation against her.

Secretary Zhang could only sigh deeply.

The gap formed by such a deep misunderstanding truly can’t be mended with just a few words or gestures.

Madam, I’ve done my best.

At the parking lot, He Ye saw that Cheng Zhiwei’s complexion wasn’t good and asked, "What was said?"

Cheng Zhiwei gazed downwards at her own fingers with a wry smile, "That night, it was Zhou Lin who took me home."

He Ye’s grasp on the steering wheel tightened, equally surprised, "It was him?"

Zhou Lin clearly didn’t seem to care about Cheng Zhiwei, it was unexpected he would actually intervene to rescue her.

Cheng Zhiwei was much calmer, "He just didn’t want my incident to affect the entire Zhou Family and the reputation of Zhou Group."

He Ye felt much more at ease, "If he cares about the reputation, then he will definitely resolve this matter."

Cheng Zhiwei leaned her head on her arm, looking exhausted, "You’re right, he will resolve it, but when it will be resolved is another question."

Considering Zhou Lin’s character, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to drag this out until Director Wen buckles under the pressure of public opinion to replace someone.

He Ye had evidently also considered this possibility.

"We still need to go see Wu Chengshuang, I need to get a definite answer."

If Zhou Lin doesn’t know about this matter, then nine times out of ten, it must have been Bai Zhuzhu.

Following the address given by Director Wen, the two arrived at Wu Chengshuang’s home.

After being fired for the unspoken rules scandal, several netizens anonymously claimed to have been harassed by him, leaving Wu Chengshuang’s prospects completely destroyed, and he appeared disheveled, with an unkempt beard.

Seeing Cheng Zhiwei, his face looked unpleasant, and he was about to shut the door.

He Ye blocked the way and pushed the door open to enter.

Cheng Zhiwei wrinkled her nose in disgust; the house was in a complete mess, and there was a strange odor that made one feel sick.

"Wu Chengshuang, the rumors on the internet were your doing, weren’t they?" Cheng Zhiwei got straight to the point, "If I call the police, you’ll go to prison."

Wu Chengshuang threw himself on the sofa, defeated and sarcastic as he looked at Cheng Zhiwei, "If you had the ability to send me to prison, would I be sitting here comfortably right now? Cheng Zhiwei, cut the bullshit and get out."

Fearless.

Cheng Zhiwei of course knew why he was fearless; apparently, he had received assurances from someone.

"Then do you know why Zhou Lin saved me that day?" Cheng Zhiwei smiled arrogantly, with her head held high, full of self-confidence, exuding the air of having an ace up her sleeve.

Wu Chengshuang shifted uncomfortably, his expression subtly changed, but he still retorted stubbornly, "Just because Young President Zhou has taken a liking to you, you think you can ascend to become a phoenix? Ridiculous, he is fond of Miss Bai, and you are just a plaything. Using his name to threaten me, do you think I am ignorant of everything?"

The legitimate wife stood there, being treated as if she was just someone her husband flirted with casually.

Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes grew cold, "No matter how much he likes Bai Zhuzhu, she will only ever be the other woman because I am his wife, the Young Madam of the Zhou Family."

Wu Chengshuang was momentarily stunned, then suddenly sprang up from the sofa, his eyes flashing with fear, "You..."

Cheng Zhiwei looked around with disdain, her smile cold and detached, "Spreading rumors that Young Madam Zhou was involved with your scandal, Wu Chengshuang, Zhou Lin might indulge his mistress, but do you think the Zhou Family won’t care?"

The last sentence was delivered in a stern tone.

Wu Chengshuang rubbed his hands together, his face turned pale, but he quickly recovered and squinted at Cheng Zhiwei, "You’re lying, you’re deliberately deceiving me."

Cheng Zhiwei snorted coldly, "Whether I’m lying to you or not, you know very well. We may not get along, but legally I am his lawful wife. Why else would he come forward?"

Wu Chengshuang’s face completely changed.

Cheng Zhiwei and Zhou Lin had married due to an accident, and Cheng Zhiwei’s father, Cheng Shang, felt his daughter had done something shameful, so the wedding was very low-key, only inviting very close friends and family to a small gathering.

So, what could outsiders know?

This was the first time, in front of outsiders, that Cheng Zhiwei had referred to herself as a wife.

Having muddled through for so many years, Wu Chengshuang wasn’t stupid. Last time Zhou Lin had stepped in to save Cheng Zhiwei, and today Cheng Zhiwei claimed she was his wife. She wasn’t wrong; it just meant their relationship was strained but it didn’t mean Cheng Zhiwei was lying.

She really was Young Madam Zhou.

Cold sweat trickled down his back, he knew of Zhou Chenyuan’s awe-inspiring presence in the business world and how formidable he had been.

No matter how disliked Cheng Zhiwei was, she belonged to the Zhou Family.

At this moment, Wu Chengshuang wished he could slap himself. His attitude immediately changed, and he slumped his shoulders, "Miss Cheng, no, Young Madam, this really has nothing to do with me..."

"I know it has nothing to do with you, I am just asking who told you to do this?"

Wu Chengshuang’s scalp tingled, but he dared not speak the name.

Cheng Zhiwei pressed on, "I wonder, if you take the blame for spreading rumors, will anyone appreciate your loyalty? She’ll have a smooth future, but what about the rest of your life, will it go smoothly? Will she take care of your family, your children?"

"I..." Wu Chengshuang clenched his teeth.

He feared Zhou Lin, but feared Zhou Chenyuan even more.

"I can speak to Madam Zhou on your behalf, say they forced you to do this." Cheng Zhiwei’s tone softened a bit, persuading gently, "Wu Chengshuang, tell me who is instructing you?"

"It’s Bai..." Wu Chengshuang clenched his teeth, weighing his options, and subconsciously wanted to blurt out the name.

"Enough." The door was forcefully pushed open from the outside, someone barged in with an icy presence, interrupting Wu Chengshuang.

Wu Chengshuang’s face instantly turned ashen, and his tongue tied, "Pres... President Zhou."

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fists, staring straight at Wu Chengshuang, "Bai what?"

Zhou Lin walked in expressionless, his unfathomable and indifferent gaze settled on Cheng Zhiwei’s face, "I said enough, Cheng Zhiwei."

Cheng Zhiwei bit her lip, her eyes reddening. She had been so close, Wu Chengshuang was about to say the name. She had even started recording on her phone; as soon as Wu Chengshuang would speak... but then Zhou Lin arrived.

"Was it Bai Zhuzhu?" Cheng Zhiwei called out, reckless.

But Wu Chengshuang no longer had the courage to utter the name.

He stepped back a bit, fearfully, "Miss Cheng, stop pressuring me."

Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes, feeling a sense of powerlessness washing over her.

He Ye frowned and said, "We’re not pressuring you; we just want to know the truth. Since you refuse to speak up, then you’ll have to clarify yourself, you weren’t with Zhiwei that night, right?"

They settled for the next best thing, to clear Cheng Zhiwei of the accusations first.

Wu Chengshuang mumbled, not daring to speak.

Zhou Lin raised an eyebrow in a mocking manner, "This matter is none of Mr. He’s concern, yet Mr. He is quite the busybody."
