Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Paternity Test, Zhou Ruoki is His Son

"Yeah, it’s okay, Zhou Lin helped out," He Ye said straightforwardly.

Cheng Zhiwei looked up and saw Zhou Lin coming over with Zhou Ruoki in his arms. His gaze was somewhat distant as it fell on Cheng Zhiwei’s face, and then he averted it subtly.

Cheng Zhiwei took the initiative to say thanks politely.

Zhou Lin put a plate of food in front of Zhou Ruoki and couldn’t tell if he was concerned or being sarcastic, "He Ye is a public figure, and you let him take Cheng Xing out in the open. Aren’t you being a bit too bold?"

The eyes of the fans are indeed sharp.

Cheng Zhiwei was quite ashamed.

Indeed, she hadn’t thought it through, assuming that Cheng Xing would be safe in a corner with few people, so she neglected Cheng Xing’s safety.

It was her mistake.

Cheng Yang was like a little firecracker, instantly ignited, hands on hips and glaring at Zhou Lin unhappily, "Don’t you bully my mom."

He looked like a brave little adult.

You could picture how, many years later, he would valiantly stand behind his mom and sister, becoming the stalwart tree they could rely on for a lifetime.

Zhou Lin suddenly understood why Zhou Chenyuan wanted Cheng Yang as his heir.

Despite his young age, Cheng Yang already possessed a strong sense of responsibility.

He Ye patted Cheng Yang on the head and pushed the melted ice cream in front of him, his voice soft and gentle, "The ice cream has melted, but it still tastes pretty good. Do you want to try some?"

Cheng Yang took a big bite and cheered up again.

Seo Zhenzhen brought over a plate at that moment, sat down beside Zhou Ruoki, and whispered something to him. Zhou Ruoki kept his head down and didn’t speak.

A bit like a quail.

A touch of exasperation appeared on Seo Zhenzhen’s face as she gave Zhou Ruoki a concealed roll of her eyes.

Zhou Ruoki buried his head even lower.

With Zhou Ruoki proving unreliable, Seo Zhenzhen took it upon herself to speak up, deliberately asking with a smile, "Zhiwei, are you and He Ye dating? When do you plan to invite me and Ah Lin to celebrate with drinks?"

The question was annoyingly blunt and carried a tinge of bragging.

Cheng Zhiwei sat unmoved, without even lifting her eyelids.

He Ye chuckled lightly, "Zhiwei and I are just friends."

He was a public figure, and every word and action of his attracted a great deal of attention. He was pursuing Cheng Zhiwei, but he wouldn’t speak carelessly before their relationship was confirmed.

Given Seo Zhenzhen’s nature, she might well be secretly recording everything to later release it online, which would hurt Cheng Zhiwei.

An impervious response.

Seo Zhenzhen clenched her teeth in frustration—she had indeed been secretly recording, planning to release it and guide public opinion to attack Cheng Zhiwei.

But He Ye was just too astute.

Seo Zhenzhen wanted to say more, but Zhou Lin already spoke up indifferently, "Let’s eat."

Seo Zhenzhen’s words got stuck in her throat.

Zhou Lin glanced at Cheng Zhiwei and couldn’t help but say, "The child’s safety is more important."

He Ye sighed, "It’s my fault."

Cheng Zhiwei shook her head, "I was careless."

They both insisted on taking the blame upon themselves.

Zhou Lin couldn’t stand it anymore, "Whoever’s fault it is, that’s whose fault it is, let’s be reasonable."

Did Cheng Zhiwei really need to protect He Ye to this extent?

Zhou Ruoki, not understanding anything, chimed in, "Yeah, yeah, be reasonable."

Cheng Yang’s little face fell instantly, and he glared fiercely at Zhou Ruoki, "What’s it got to do with you?"

Zhou Ruoki got scared and didn’t dare to speak.

He Ye said softly and gently, "Yangyang, don’t be like that."

A gentle tone of voice, rather ordinary.

Cheng Yang’s eyes suddenly reddened, and he tightly clutched Cheng Zhiwei’s hand, feeling somewhat upset, "Mom, is he going to snatch away Uncle He too? I like Uncle He."

Because He Ye spoke on Zhou Ruoki’s behalf, Cheng Yang suddenly felt that Zhou Ruoki had taken He Ye away from him as well.

It was very upsetting.

Zhou Ruoki pouted, completely unable to eat anymore, and muttered in explanation, "I didn’t."

"Yangyang, it’s okay now, we should go home," Cheng Zhiwei said as she stroked Cheng Yang’s hair, standing between the two children, blocking their line of sight.

Cheng Yang might seem carefree, but in fact, he was just a child barely three years old. He was also sensitive, and his dislike for Zhou Ruoki was compounded by the events surrounding He Yuming.

Whoever spoke for Zhou Ruoki was on Zhou Ruoki’s side.

Since He Ye had spoken for Zhou Ruoki, that meant he was on Zhou Ruoki’s side.

He pouted and pulled Cheng Xing over, not letting He Ye hold her anymore.

He Ye was at a loss whether to cry or laugh; he never imagined that one day he would "offend" a little boy.

Cheng Zhiwei picked up Cheng Xing, nodded to Zhou Lin, and quickly left the place which was still an amusement park, as irrationally excited fans might burst in at any moment.

Back in the car, He Ye apologized to Cheng Zhiwei. He had thought it was a simple outing that could enhance their relationship, but it ended as soon as it started, and they had to go home right away.

"It’s fine," Cheng Zhiwei said unconcernedly, joking with a smile, "It just shows you’re popular, which is a good thing."

...

Cheng Zhiwei and He Ye left briskly with the children, leaving the empty restaurant. Seo Zhenzhen was taken aback.

Cheng Zhiwei had left so easily.

Before she could say anything, Zhou Lin was already looking at her, "Let’s eat."

Seo Zhenzhen hastily agreed.

Halfway through the meal, Secretary Zhang arrived and the two went out to the balcony.

Although the balcony door muffled the sound, Secretary Zhang still lowered his voice, "Just got the news, He Lanzhi left Miss Seo’s apartment."

Zhou Lin’s expression remained unchanged; he had expected this outcome all along.

In fact, the close relationship between He Lanzhi and Seo Zhenzhen had long been evident; he simply hadn’t noticed it before.

"Regarding the paternity test, the results have been sent to your phone. The young master has no blood relation to He Lanzhi but is confirmed to be related by blood to you."

This meant that Zhou Ruoki was indeed his son.

Zhou Lin frowned slightly. He Lanzhi’s odd behavior towards Zhou Ruoki had given him doubts, which was why he had ordered the paternity test. This result, however, was unexpected.

Zhou Ruoki was his biological son.

"President Zhou, what do you think?" Secretary Zhang asked, "Should we still arrange for him to go abroad?"

Zhou Lin had initially thought Zhou Ruoki wasn’t his biological son, so he had planned to send him abroad to grow up there, but now the result was different from what he had thought, and he needed to reconsider.

"Continue with the arrangements," Zhou Lin ordered, lighting a cigarette with an expressionless face. "Arrange for competent people to take care of him."

He still decided to send Zhou Ruoki away.

"Yes."

Zhou Lin returned to the restaurant. Zhou Ruoki had finished eating and was waiting obediently for him to come back. Seo Zhenzhen was wiping the corner of his mouth with a tissue, looking like a gentle mother.

"Let’s go, we’re going back," he said as he picked up Zhou Ruoki and waited for Seo Zhenzhen to take her bag before heading out.

Seo Zhenzhen was a bit reluctant, "Are we going back already?"

She had hoped to spend more time with Zhou Lin, of course, it would have been even better without Zhou Ruoki.

She had thought about a world just for the two of them.

Zhou Lin looked at her with a smile that was not quite a smile, "Should we not go back, and wait for He Ye to come and trouble you instead?"

Seo Zhenzhen knew that Zhou Lin was aware of what she had done, and she didn’t dare to say anything more.
