The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 285: No Need for Miss Cheng to Bother

Chapter 285: Chapter 285: No Need for Miss Cheng to Bother

For Cheng Zhiwei, matters of the heart were the most vexing.

She did not dare to respond to He Ye lightly, although He Ye was a gentle and kind person.

Because to respond meant endless troubles.

When Cheng Zhiwei returned home, Guo Cuihua immediately asked her how it went?

Coming back so late, it seemed the outcome wasn’t bad.

But Cheng Zhiwei’s attitude made her feel a twinge of worry, "What happened?"

"He’s not willing for me to bring the children."

"But I said, I would take care of the children. How can they go back on their word?" Guo Cuihua said helplessly, still hoping Cheng Zhiwei could have a stable home.

"I won’t give up Yangyang and Xingxing just to get married." Cheng Zhiwei made her stance clear, the two children she had carried for ten months, how could she just abandon them.

She might as well have given them to Zhou Lin from the start.

"Then you’ll never find someone suitable."

No man would be willing to raise someone else’s children, right?

Cheng Zhiwei thought of He Ye, but as soon as the idea came, she immediately shook her head.

No, she couldn’t entertain such thoughts.

Cheng Zhiwei stayed home for a few days, then He Ye had her come to his newly established studio. It wasn’t as luxurious as the previous one, but it was a place to set foot at the very least.

Everything was kept simple.

Yet it was a reassuring presence.

Everyone embraced the work with immense enthusiasm and actively threw themselves into building up the studio. Cheng Zhiwei stayed by He Ye’s side, proactively taking on various odds and ends.

After tidying up, they went to eat. By the time they finished dinner and came out, the night had fallen completely. Cheng Zhiwei said goodbye to them in the parking lot. She had driven herself there, so she planned to head straight home.

He Ye stood beside her, "Can you give me a lift on the way?"

Cheng Zhiwei knew he wanted Yu Wenwen to be able to leave work early and go home, so she agreed.

He Ye got into the passenger seat.

Just as Cheng Zhiwei turned to get into the car, a loud shout came from not far away: "Watch out!"

Before Cheng Zhiwei could react, her entire body had been yanked hard and pushed behind someone.

A grunt followed.

Cheng Zhiwei looked up to see Zhou Lin’s face turn pale. Her heart skipped a beat, "What’s wrong?"

Her eyes fell on his arm, bright red blood flowing out from between his fingers.

He had injured his arm.

The man who was kicked away picked up a knife from the ground, his face fierce as he charged at Cheng Zhiwei, "The two of you can go to hell."

But he had barely moved when He Ye, who had gotten out of the car, pinned him to the ground. During the struggle, He Ye’s hand was accidentally cut.

"Senior, you’ve hurt your hand." Cheng Zhiwei’s attention instantly focused on He Ye.

She even wanted to go over to him.

Zhou Lin’s gaze wavered, he clutched her wrist, his voice hoarse, "Don’t go over there, it’s dangerous."

Cheng Zhiwei struggled fiercely, her gaze almost severely reproachful, "He’s hurt!"

"Zhiwei, don’t come over," He Ye quickly said, just as two other people from the studio hadn’t left yet and helped hold down the assailant.

He Ye finally let go and kicked the knife away from the man. He took out his phone and called the police.

After everything was handled, he came over.

Cheng Zhiwei forcefully wriggled out of Zhou Lin’s strong grasp, her worried eyes on He Ye’s hand, "You’re bleeding, let’s go to the hospital."

He Ye chuckled and shook his head, "It’s not a big problem. Let’s wait for the police. As for President Zhou..."

He glanced at Zhou Lin’s arm that hung limply, fresh blood dripping from his fingertips onto the floor, splattering tiny droplets of blood.

"President Zhou is more seriously injured. We should take him to the hospital," He Ye patted Cheng Zhiwei’s shoulder with a relaxed tone, "I’ll come to pick you up after I’ve dealt with things here."

Cheng Zhiwei nodded, then walked over to Zhou Lin, "I’ll take you to the hospital."

"Don’t bother," Zhou Lin gave her a cold glance and strode towards the exit.

He didn’t need He Ye’s charity and pity.

Cheng Zhiwei paused, her eyebrows furrowing as she chased after him, her tone heavy and entirely lacking the tenderness she had with He Ye; instead, impatience was prevalent.

"You’re injured. I’m taking you to the hospital."

Zhou Lin’s already desolate heart was like a piece of rotten wood suspended in the air, trembling as if about to splinter apart at any moment.

"Don’t bother with me," Zhou Lin coldly spat out four words as he pulled open the car door.

His hand let go, and the blood flowed even more freely.

His complexion visibly paled.

Cheng Zhiwei, pressing against the car door, was infuriated, "You’re still driving in this condition? Do you have a death wish?"

"Do you care whether I want to live or not?" Zhou Lin’s eyes reddened, his thin lips forming an angry line. He had taken a knife for her, while all He Ye got was a scratch on the back of his hand.

Yet she behaved as though He Ye had been the one to take the knife for her.

Not him, Zhou Lin.

Cheng Zhiwei gripped the door handle, he had just saved her and gotten hurt, she didn’t want to argue with him, she simply said flatly, "Let’s go to the hospital first. We can talk about everything else later."

She believed she had conceded enough.

After all, if he hadn’t been injured for her sake, she would have completely ignored him.

"Miss Cheng, don’t trouble yourself." His icy words came out as Zhou Lin pulled her wrist away, pushing her aside, and drove off immediately.

By the time Cheng Zhiwei steadied herself, Zhou Lin’s car had already disappeared without a trace.

Baffled.

Cheng Zhiwei thought it over and decided she couldn’t just overlook the situation, so she made a call to Secretary Zhang, asking him to send someone to look for Zhou Lin.

When Secretary Zhang received Cheng Zhiwei’s call, he spoke in an extremely respectful tone, "Didn’t President Zhou come to find you?"

"Find me?"

"Yes, President Zhou asked me to investigate Huang Ye. We found that he had been loitering around your house for a few days, even following you, and especially since we discovered he had a knife on him, President Zhou was worried, fearing for your safety. So he went to find you by himself."

At that moment, Secretary Zhang and Zhou Lin’s bodyguard had just arrived in the vicinity.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her phone, her heart fluttered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure, speaking calmly, "His arm is injured, he drove off, and I didn’t stop him."

Understanding the situation, Secretary Zhang dared not say much and hastily ordered people to find Zhou Lin.

Cheng Zhiwei hung up and walked back.

He Ye had wrapped his tie around the back of his hand, which was just a broken skin and the bleeding had already stopped.

Cheng Zhiwei felt relieved, then looked down at Huang Ye on the ground.

"Huang Ye, why did you come to kill me?" she asked.

Huang Ye’s eyes widened, rolling about frantically, "Cheng Zhiwei, don’t falsely accuse me. When did I try to kill you? I just thought your silhouette looked like someone owing me money. I just wanted to intimidate her into paying back the debt."

It was a well-fabricated excuse.

But Cheng Zhiwei knew he was connected to Seo Zhenzhen, so she could guess he was targeting her.

"Seo Zhenzhen sent you, right? You don’t have to admit it, but you just injured Zhou Lin. I think he won’t let it go," she said nonchalantly, bringing up the name of the man who had just driven off. Crouching down, she looked at Huang Ye, her voice soft, "Tell me, if the thing that happened six years ago was known to have been done by you, in his hands, you’d likely not come out alive or at least severely injured, right?"
