The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife -
Chapter 247 Congratulations, It’s Twins
Chapter 247: Chapter 247 Congratulations, It’s Twins
"You... you..." Cheng Can slapped his thigh, trembling all over with anger, "She’s your cousin, how could you not save her?"
Of course, she couldn’t say that all this was arranged by her, only because she didn’t want to return Lin Jun’s dowry. Thus, she cruelly schemed against Cheng Zhiyin, wanting them to be presented with a fait accompli.
However, she hadn’t anticipated that the one to suffer would be her own daughter.
"Call the police," Cheng Shang said with righteous indignation. He was stubborn, but not stupid, sensing something amiss.
"We can’t call the police, it would ruin her reputation."
Lin Jun was her uncle; if word of this got out, it would be incredibly shameful.
Cheng Zhiwei, claiming to feel unwell, took Cheng Zhiyin and Guo Cuihua and left. As for the drama here, it was entirely Cheng Can’s own doing.
Two hours later, Cheng Shang and Zhou Lin returned.
Cheng Shang stared at Cheng Zhiwei with a complex expression and couldn’t help asking, "Did you know about this?"
Cheng Zhiwei sneered, "I didn’t know. I only know that my aunt is definitely not a person who would repent and bow her head. Her deliberately insincere apology must have a motive."
"Then why didn’t you say anything, and even let... let..." Cheng Shang was somewhat unable to accept it, "That’s her daughter."
"She didn’t even think about my sister; why should I consider her daughter?" Cheng Zhiwei said disdainfully, "Besides, my cousin intentionally brought my sister there; she’s not innocent."
What Cheng Zhiwei didn’t mention was that Lin Jun was no good person either. Clearly, he could have stopped the plan the moment he realized it wasn’t Cheng Zhiyin, but he insisted on bullying the girl, which revealed his dark heart.
By introducing such a man to Cheng Zhiyin, Cheng Can had ill intentions from the start.
Cheng Shang was left without any words.
He felt that Cheng Zhiwei had gone too far, but he was also utterly disappointed in Cheng Can.
"We’re leaving tomorrow."
After paying respects to their grandmother, the family headed back to the city overnight.
Cheng Zhiwei and Zhou Lin also returned to Yucheng, and Guo Cuihua, worried about Cheng Zhiwei, wanted to accompany her.
Cheng Zhiwei wouldn’t allow it, and in the end, Cheng Zhiyin quit her job and went back to Yucheng too.
The next day, Cheng Zhiwei went for a pregnancy checkup.
While waiting, Zhou Lin received an extremely important phone call.
Zhang Yuanheng handed the medical report to Cheng Zhiwei, "Congratulations, it’s twins."
Cheng Zhiwei instinctively touched her belly, twins?
Cheng Zhiyin, quick to react, held her hand and whispered to Zhang Yuanheng, "Can we keep this information a secret?"
Zhang Yuanheng uttered an "Ah," a secret?
How could he keep it a secret?
Once the children were born, wouldn’t the truth come to light?
Cheng Zhiwei immediately understood Cheng Zhiyin’s intention. She took a deep breath and whispered with a hint of pleading, "Zhou Lin and I have actually divorced. If he finds out now that I have twins in my belly, once the children are born, he will definitely take both of them away."
"Zhang Yuanheng, I’m begging you, help me."
Her face was pale, and her shoulders trembled slightly, appearing extremely vulnerable.
Zhang Yuanheng couldn’t help but recall past events; Zhou Lin was far from good to Cheng Zhiwei, who had to visit the hospital every other week or so.
She was right; if Zhou Lin knew there were two children in her belly, he would not be equitable enough to take just one. He would take both children away.
"You’re divorced?" he asked.
Cheng Zhiwei nodded, "Yes, his condition was that the child would be his."
Zhang Yuanheng believed her because the day Cheng Zhiwei found out she was pregnant, she said she didn’t want the child. Now it seemed, she had traded the child for a divorce certificate.
He didn’t think Cheng Zhiwei was heartless; after all, she really had a tough life.
"Or if you have any conditions, I can agree to them," Cheng Zhiwei quickly said, fearing that Zhou Lin would suddenly return.
"I’ll help you," Zhang Yuanheng agreed.
He had always been pure-hearted and kind, and the ordeal Cheng Zhiwei had gone through shocked him deeply.
He was willing to help her.
Cheng Zhiwei let out a sigh of relief, "Thank you."
Zhou Lin came back quickly. Zhang Yuanheng was lying for the first time, and it was to Zhou Lin. The burden on his heart was immense. He nearly had his back to Zhou Lin before he could bring himself to say, "The child is very healthy."
Those five short words took all the strength he had.
Zhou Lin hugged Cheng Zhiwei, "That’s good."
He did not harbor the slightest doubt.
By the time Zhou Lin had taken Cheng Zhiwei away, Zhang Yuanheng was drenched in sweat. He picked up his phone and scrolled to Lin Yu’s number, knowing he should tell Lin Yu about this.
But after much pondering, he ultimately gave up.
Cheng Zhiwei truly was pitiable. Might as well help where he could.
Having been orphaned at a young age, he knew all too well the price one had to pay in that kind of unfair environment.
Cheng Zhiwei had carried a child for ten months, yet couldn’t keep even one by her side. How pitiful that was.
When she received the photos again, Cheng Zhiwei forced herself to stay calm and waited until no one else was around before taking them out to look.
There were two photos, as before. One was of Seo Zhenzhen at the airport, with Zhou Lin standing beside the wheelchair, looking on gently. The other was of Cheng Zhiwei lying weakly on the hospital bed, alone with an intravenous drip.
The contrast between the two shots was stark.
Vague memories began to surface in Cheng Zhiwei’s mind, but they slipped away too quickly to grasp.
She placed the photos into a hidden folder on her phone and then deleted the messages.
This was the confidence she would use to negotiate terms with Zhou Lin after the child’s birth,
"What are you looking at?" Zhou Lin appeared out of nowhere, wrapping his arms around Cheng Zhiwei from behind and kissing her cheek,
Cheng Zhiwei clenched her phone tightly, then casually let go, "Sis said she wanted to go shopping, to buy something for the child."
Cheng Zhiyin was still staying at Maple Courtyard and would come to visit Cheng Zhiwei every now and then.
"I have a meeting to attend, so I’ll drop you off on the way. Once you’re done shopping, call the driver to pick you up," Zhou Lin instructed carefully, "Don’t tire yourself out."
"Got it," Cheng Zhiwei nodded gently.
Zhou Lin watched her for a few seconds. Since seeing the divorce certificate, Cheng Zhiwei had become gentler, which occasionally gave him the illusion.
He couldn’t help but feel she still had feelings for him.
While he was lost in thought, Cheng Zhiwei had already gone to the cloakroom to change. When she came out and saw him, she asked in a soft voice, "What’s the matter?"
Zhou Lin looked down and took her hand, "Let’s go."
Zhou Lin drove to Maple Courtyard to pick up Cheng Zhiyin and then dropped them off at the nearby mall, giving them a detailed reminder before leaving.
What a pity, no one was moved by his gentleness.
Cheng Zhiwei linked arms with Cheng Zhiyin and entered the mall, taking their time as they browsed.
After a while, they had bought quite a few items.
When they passed by a men’s clothing store, Cheng Zhiwei walked in.
Cheng Zhiyin was taken aback, "Are you buying something for Zhou Lin?"
Cheng Zhiwei smiled faintly, "Just currying favor."
She needed to let his guard down so that when the time came, she could find a way to take the child with her. Buying him something would surely make him happy.
This was the first step in currying favor.
After all, she didn’t have the means to confront Zhou Lin directly, so she had to play it softly.
"That’s true," Cheng Zhiyin joined her in selecting items.
