The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife -
Chapter 215 Who would want her like this now
Chapter 215: Chapter 215 Who would want her like this now
Without saying another word, Zhou Lin restrained Cheng Zhiwei with one hand and took her mobile phone with the other, swiftly scanning through the chat history. Cheng Zhiwei had replied to several messages out of politeness, her words innocent and pure, but one conversation was strikingly broad, especially when it came to music. The two of them had found common ground, exchanging messages non-stop.
It was probably the reason Cheng Zhiwei clung to her phone without putting it down.
A surge of nameless rage erupted from the depths of Zhou Lin’s heart. He sneered with a mocking tone, "Cheng Zhiwei, don’t you like Zhou Lin? How come you’re already chatting so enthusiastically with another man?"
"You’re talking nonsense."
"Am I talking nonsense?" Zhou Lin put the phone in front of Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes, "Do you even know him, yet you agreed to go to a concert with him?"
"He’s my classmate," Cheng Zhiwei said, her eyes reddening with anger as she stamped on Zhou Lin’s foot and her long hair swung in the air. "Who I choose to go out with is none of your business!"
"How is it none of my business? I..."
"Young Master Zhou," the voice of Wang Mei appeared at the doorway, abruptly interrupting Zhou Lin, her expression carrying a hint of disapproval, "Madam is asking for Miss Zhiwei upstairs."
Zhou Lin, overcome with rage, let go of Cheng Zhiwei’s hand and went upstairs to find Lin Yu first.
After hearing his accusations, Lin Yu replied indifferently, "Didn’t you say you don’t like her? If you don’t like her, what’s wrong with introducing her to some new friends?"
"Is this about introducing her to friends or to potential suitors?" Zhou Lin held back his anger. His mother always had her ways. Couldn’t she just let Cheng Zhiwei stay at home in peace?
"I’ve consulted about it. In Zhiwei’s condition, it’s absolutely wrong to let her be alone. Otherwise, her mood will get worse and it might develop into depression," Lin Yu looked at Zhou Lin with dissatisfaction. "Even if you don’t treat her well, at this time, are you planning to kick her while she’s down?"
"Isn’t this twisting the facts? If she can’t be alone, there are so many people at home to keep her company; how could she possibly get depressed?"
In plain terms, Lin Yu wanted to find Cheng Zhiwei a new man.
But they weren’t even divorced yet.
Lin Yu then spoke frankly, "I do intend to find Zhiwei someone who can truly care for her."
Zhou Lin’s lips quivered with suppressed anger, "We are not divorced yet. If she were to develop something with another man, that would be considered adultery."
His words were harsh, and Lin Yu’s tone turned cold, "Zhou Lin, she’s been worn down by you for years now. If you don’t treasure her, do you think someone who can shouldn’t appear? You’re too selfish."
"Who would want her the way she is now?" Zhou Lin spat out harshly, letting his anger dictate his words.
"She may have no one, but that has nothing to do with you," Lin Yu retorted coldly. "Worst-case scenario, I’ll provide for her for the rest of her life, but not as your wife."
She was really angry, "When I first asked you, you agreed to marry her. Now you say you don’t like her, yet you refuse to divorce her. Zhou Lin, what exactly do you want?"
Zhou Lin turned his face away, his expression exceptionally cold, his black hair reflecting a steely light under the illumination, "When I let Cheng Zhiyin go, you promised me you wouldn’t interfere in our affairs. Are you going back on your word now?"
Lin Yu lowered her head, tidying up her clothes, her tone calming down, "I said I wouldn’t interfere in your affairs, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take care of Cheng Zhiwei’s matters. I’m just encouraging her to make more friends."
She paused, then added firmly, "Not only will I encourage her to make friends, but I will also help her realize her dreams anew."
Zhou Lin pursed his lips and turned to leave.
He went straight to Cheng Zhiwei and, in front of her, deleted all those trivial men from her phone.
Cheng Zhiwei could only fume with anger, resentfully thinking that this man also carried the Zhou surname yet he was so different from Ah Lin; Ah Lin would never be so rough with someone else’s belongings.
He was completely unreasonable.
What a pity about the concert she had arranged with her classmate.
Pouting with frustration, she simply hung her head and refused to look at Zhou Lin.
The next second, a ticket appeared in front of her. Zhou Lin said indifferently, "I have something to do tomorrow and can’t make it, but I’ll accompany you next week."
He had given her a ticket for the second performance of that concert, on the following Wednesday.
Secretary Zhang had run three red lights to deliver it.
Cheng Zhiwei accepted it in a daze, then looked up at him.
Zhou Lin couldn’t help but touch her hair, "You’re willing to go to a concert with someone you barely know, aren’t you afraid he’s a fraudster?"
"He’s my classmate," Cheng Zhiwei countered.
"It’s easy to know someone’s face, but not their heart. I’ll accompany you to the concert next week. Just stay at home and be good," he said with the utmost soothing tone. Zhou Lin raised his wrist to check the time, "Get some rest early. If I find out you’ve been staying up late again, I won’t bring you next week."
"Got it," Cheng Zhiwei muttered.
As soon as Zhou Lin left, she went straight to check through the housekeeper’s WeChat for the record, hoping she could add her classmate back.
But after searching, she found that the housekeeper’s WeChat was gone.
Zhou Lin was thorough in his actions; how could he possibly leave her a chance?
Cheng Zhiwei sighed disconsolately. He had forcefully deleted her classmate from WeChat. Without a ticket, there was no way for her to attend tomorrow’s concert. What could she do?
She could only wait for next week.
So annoying.
She rolled around on the bed with her blanket, her gaze empty as she wondered when that Brother Zhou would leave the Zhou Family, or when she would be able to leave herself.
If only Ah Lin would message her.
Right... message... she still had his QQ account...
Just then, her phone suddenly "dinged" with an incoming message.
She looked at it disinterestedly but then immediately got up from the bed, staring at the phone in shock.
QQ lit up.
[Ah Lin?]
The other side replied with a [Hmm].
Cheng Zhiwei was overjoyed and sent a stream of messages asking if he was feeling better, how he was doing now.
Ah Lin: [I’m much better, I’ll be able to return to the country and see you soon, thank you for your scripture.]
Cheng Zhiwei was so happy that she rolled around on the bed, clutching her phone to her chest, her heartbeat quickening.
Her scripture had worked.
Her Ah Lin was coming back.
Cheng Zhiwei stayed excited for most of the night, and if it wasn’t for Ah Lin asking her to rest early, she would have definitely stayed up all night talking to him.
When she got up in the morning, she looked somewhat haggard.
Lin Yu immediately glared at Zhou Lin, silently accusing him of bullying Cheng Zhiwei.
But Zhou Lin was in a good mood, placing the peeled egg in front of Cheng Zhiwei with a casual tone, "Finish eating, then have a bowl of soup."
Cheng Zhiwei stole a glance at him, remembering his despicable act of deleting contacts from her phone the day before, and then thinking of Ah Lin, she suddenly became extra docile and obedient.
"I understand," she said.
She was obedient, and Zhou Lin was satisfied. He reminded her not to add people carelessly again, then left for the company.
