The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife -
Chapter 21: He Refuses to Divorce
Chapter 21: Chapter 21: He Refuses to Divorce
Cheng Zhiwei was sharp-tongued and quite different from before. Zhou Lin was silent for a long while before Bai Zhuzhu stamped her foot, "Sister Zhiwei, we are just concerned about you."
"There’s really no need." Cheng Zhiwei turned to leave.
Zhou Lin stepped forward, blocking her way again.
Cheng Zhiwei was annoyed. She had tried to ignore the fact that he flaunted Bai Zhuzhu in front of her, and now he was picking a fight?
"Zhou Lin, are you sick? Why are you blocking me?" she mocked unkindly, "Aren’t you afraid Miss Bai will be jealous?"
Zhou Lin raised an eyebrow, looking provocatively at He Ye, "Aren’t you going to introduce your new love?"
His insistence on calling He Ye her new love was as if Cheng Zhiwei had cheated on him.
"Zhou Lin, this is my senior. Please show some respect," she demanded.
"Seniors and juniors, sounds like a very close relationship," Bai Zhuzhu said innocently to Zhou Lin, smiling, "Is Sister Zhiwei meeting with this senior here on purpose?"
Running into Zhou Lin and Bai Zhuzhu first thing in the morning was bad enough for her mood, and now they were sickening her with their endless bickering.
Cheng Zhiwei’s face darkened, "Bai Zhuzhu, I haven’t made a fuss about you showing up here with my husband. Who I meet here has nothing to do with you. As a mistress, you should be aware of your place and not flit around me, disgusting."
"Cheng Zhiwei, what did Zhuzhu say wrong?" Zhou Lin sneered coldly, "You leave pretending to be aggrieved, yet here you are romancing another man. What right do you have to talk about being disgusted?"
"This senior, couldn’t be the sugar baby you keep, could he?" Bai Zhuzhu said with a mischievous smile.
Cheng Zhiwei picked up the half bowl of millet porridge in front of her and splashed it right on Bai Zhuzhu’s face.
She had tolerated so much humiliation from them, and they still weren’t satisfied, even going as far as to insult Senior He Ye.
Did they really think she was a soft persimmon easily squished?
Bai Zhuzhu was stunned for two seconds before she realized what happened and screamed. Her carefully arranged bangs and her newly purchased skirt were now sticky and yellow with porridge.
It looked disgustingly pitiful.
Rage was furiously clamoring through her blood.
The next second, she bit her lip tearfully and started crying, "Brother Lin, my skirt... I have an audition later."
Her tears were miraculously effective on Zhou Lin.
Zhou Lin’s expression grew even colder as he stared at Cheng Zhiwei, "Apologize."
Cheng Zhiwei tossed the bowl onto the table with a clang. She completely disregarded Zhou Lin’s anger and countered coldly with a laugh, "I was just eating breakfast with my senior in a polite and respectful manner, unlike you. Apologize? She doesn’t deserve it."
With that, she left indifferently.
He Ye sized up Zhou Lin, his lips curling in a mocking smile, "Cheng Zhiwei gave up her dream for you; it wasn’t worth it."
After dropping this remark, he followed Cheng Zhiwei out.
Bai Zhuzhu was still crying, her shoulders shaking, "I’m sorry, Brother Lin. It was my fault for saying something wrong and making Sister Zhiwei angry."
Zhou Lin was irritable and replied somewhat indifferently, "Go change your clothes."
He didn’t comfort Bai Zhuzhu as he had in the past.
Bai Zhuzhu bit her lip, knowing how to read the room and realizing Zhou Lin wasn’t in a good mood, she obediently went to change her clothes.
Zhou Lin stood by the table, the image of Cheng Zhiwei chatting happily with the so-called senior still in front of his eyes, followed by her impatient look towards him.
She really didn’t try to hide her thoughts.
Probably her sudden wish to divorce was all calculated; she knew even if he agreed, the family elders wouldn’t. So, logically, she must’ve demanded to live their separate lives, all to meet with her lover.
It really was no simple task.
Cheng Zhiwei stormed out of the hotel, looked at the bustling traffic outside, took a deep breath, and suppressed the annoyance in her heart.
Once the audition was over, no matter the result, she would have to change locations. If she passed the audition, she would change hotels. If not, she would leave immediately to another city.
The world was so large, she couldn’t possibly run into that scumbag everywhere.
"Zhiwei, are you okay?" He Ye’s voice came from behind her.
Cheng Zhiwei felt a bit ashamed, having been so preoccupied with leaving that she forgot about He Ye.
She quickly apologized, "I’m sorry, Senior, I forgot to ask you to come with me."
He Ye shook his head, looking at Cheng Zhiwei with a pained expression, "I thought the man you were willing to give up your dreams to marry would treat you well, but I didn’t expect it to be like this."
Cheng Zhiwei gave a helpless, bitter smile, blaming her past foolish fantasies, "I didn’t expect it to end up like this either."
"Why not get a divorce? Do you still like him?" He Ye asked.
Cheng Zhiwei shook her head, "It’s him who doesn’t want the divorce."
He Ye was stunned, finding it incomprehensible, "He shows up in front of you so brazenly with another woman, yet he refuses to divorce?"
Did this man want to have his cake and eat it too?
Glancing at the time, Cheng Zhiwei said apologetically, "I’m really sorry for today, Senior. I’ll treat you to a meal another day. I have something else to attend to, so I have to go now."
He Ye nodded, "Go ahead with your things."
Cheng Zhiwei hurriedly took a taxi and left, while He Ye stood there for a while before turning around to go inside.
There were roughly a hundred people at the audition site. Cheng Zhiwei had been delayed in the restaurant, and when she arrived onsite, she received the last number ticket. Consequently, she found a place to sit down.
She thought the audition might involve a long wait, but to her surprise, nearly every minute someone came out, all downcast and disappointed.
Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fist. She was very confident in her voice but had heard that the director was not looking for a beautiful voice, but the right voice.
"Right" was a very broad yet narrow term.
If someone suitable was found earlier, the rest waiting in line would be passed over directly.
Time passed quickly.
It was Cheng Zhiwei’s turn.
Having seen the world, she adjusted her mindset upon entering. She was about to deliver the opening lines when her gaze paused, falling on He Ye who was seated opposite at the center.
He Ye gave her a slight smile and made an encouraging gesture with his hands.
Cheng Zhiwei settled down and chose an ancient-style song to sing live.
After singing a few lines, the man sitting beside He Ye gestured to pause and looked at the computer. "Director Wen, what do you think?"
A sharp and calm female voice came from the computer, "She’s the one."
It turned out that Director Wen Ya couldn’t attend the audition in person today due to being busy with other matters.
He Ye turned his head and smiled, "Sister Wen, this is Cheng Zhiwei, the one I mentioned to you. Are you satisfied?"
"So it’s her, not bad," Wen Ya’s crisp tone relaxed a little, "Miss Cheng, is it? Could you please wait here another day? Someone will come to you with the contract later. If there are no problems, go ahead and sign it."
Cheng Zhiwei agreed.
The computer was turned off. He Ye walked over, his demeanor as gentle as jade, and extended a hand, "Congratulations, Zhiwei."
