Chapter 18: Chapter 18 If he really likes it, I bless him

Zhou Lin couldn’t help but stare at Cheng Zhiwei’s expression. She had pursued him for three years using the identity of Young Madam Zhou, but could she really let go just like that?

However, as long as she could keep it from his mother, it wasn’t impossible.

"Okay."

He agreed, and Cheng Zhiwei immediately turned around and entered the ward without any reluctance.

Her indifferent demeanor showed not the slightest hint of love for him.

Suddenly, Zhou Lin felt a sense of unease for no apparent reason, but then he thought that maybe this was yet another one of her schemes.

He stood by the door, not leaving right away.

Inside the ward, Cheng Zhiwei’s calm voice was heard, "Mom, I know you are worried about me, but love can’t be forced. Let Ah Lin and I take things naturally."

Lin Yu held her hand, with a hint of redness in her eyes, "It’s Ah Lin who has wronged you."

If he didn’t like Cheng Zhiwei in the first place, he shouldn’t have agreed to marry, leading everyone to believe he liked Cheng Zhiwei.

Zhou Lin snorted disdainfully. It was clearly Cheng Zhiwei who had wronged him; his mother had been deceived.

"It’s me who no longer has feelings for him." Cheng Zhiwei confessed, "If he truly likes Bai Zhuzhu, I am willing to bless them."

"Zhiwei, I only acknowledge you as my daughter-in-law," Lin Yu said anxiously, "Forget any Bai Zhuzhu or Heizhu; I can’t bring myself to like them. You can’t give up on Ah Lin."

Cheng Zhiwei felt a bitter pain in her heart, not because she wanted to give up on Zhou Lin, but because Zhou Lin had never liked her.

"I still remember when you were little and would visit our home, how much you loved playing with Ah Lin. You two got along so well, I even remember once when you played house, you acted as Ah Lin’s bride." Lin Yu brought up those memories, her smile beaming.

"You’ve said it yourself, those were just childhood games, not to be taken seriously," Cheng Zhiwei said, with a somewhat forced smile.

The past was a knife that cuts deep.

Zhou Lin could just see Cheng Zhiwei through the crack in the door: her black hair plaited into a braid hanging quietly behind her, a pale blue dress draping down to her ankles, graceful and dignified.

The words ’when they were little’ seemed to have a filter, and as Zhou Lin looked at Cheng Zhiwei, the coldness in his eyes melted away significantly.

If it hadn’t been for the incident three years ago, they could have been good friends.

Unfortunately, Cheng Zhiwei had been too greedy.

With his heart growing cold again, Zhou Lin turned and left.

Cheng Zhiwei took a long time to convince Lin Yu, and only with reluctance did Lin Yu agree to return home. After escorting her out, Cheng Zhiwei went back to Sparkling Sky City, where Zhou Lin was already there.

They exchanged a glance, then calmly looked away, as if achieving a subtle balance.

Cheng Zhiwei had Wang Mei take Zhou Lin’s belongings to the room he had stayed in before, without any hesitation.

Zhou Lin gave it a glance and then took the car keys and left.

Life seemed to revert to how it was before. Cheng Zhiwei was woken up by a phone call in the middle of the night. Zhou Lin’s voice sounded terrible, "Cheng Zhiwei, come to the airport."

He hung up immediately after speaking, before Cheng Zhiwei could even ask why.

The airport?

Cheng Zhiwei slapped her cheeks and called Secretary Zhang to ask.

Secretary Zhang quickly said, "Madam is trying to send Miss Bai abroad. There was a scene at the company before, and we thought it was over, but Madam secretly arranged for someone to kidnap Miss Bai and is trying to force her to leave. Young President Zhou has rushed over and is now in a standoff at the airport."

Cheng Zhiwei felt her scalp explode in an instant, "Understood, I’ll be right there."

It seems that during the day, because Zhou Lin was present, Lin Yu agreed on the surface but still intended to send Bai Zhuzhu away.

Upon arriving at the airport, she heard Bai Zhuzhu sobbing, "Aunt, I didn’t seduce Brother Lin. We just got a little closer, please let me go."

Cheng Zhiwei paused slightly, of course, Bai Zhuzhu hadn’t seduced Zhou Lin; he was a willing participant.

Pushing aside these thoughts, Cheng Zhiwei quickly walked up to Lin Yu and called out, "Mom."

Seeing Cheng Zhiwei appear, Bai Zhuzhu became emotionally agitated and rushed in front of her, "Sister Zhiwei, I beg you, I know you were angry for using your room last time, I’ll accept any compensation you want, but please don’t drive me away, I’m begging you."

Her tears were like rain, and she stumbled every few steps until Zhou Lin reached out to steady her, and she collapsed into his arms.

Zhou Lin’s face was grim as he looked at Cheng Zhiwei accusatorily. If it weren’t for Lin Yu’s presence, he likely would have spoken out in defense of Bai Zhuzhu immediately.

Cheng Zhiwei stepped aside, her cool gaze unable to hide her disgust, "Is this how you want the entire Zhou Family to end up on tomorrow’s front page news with you?"

Bai Zhuzhu sobbed miserably, looking at Zhou Lin with a pitiful gaze, "Brother Lin, I didn’t do it on purpose, I just don’t want to leave."

Zhou Lin looked deeply at Cheng Zhiwei and stretched out his hand to pull Bai Zhuzhu over, speaking indifferently, "I know, I’ll have Secretary Zhang send you back."

Lin Yu was furious and tried to intervene, but Cheng Zhiwei held her shoulder to stop her, "Mom, it’s too late, I’ll take you back."

She didn’t let go of her hand.

Lin Yu said angrily, "Zhiwei, you’re young, and you’re trying to save the Zhou Family’s face by not making a big deal out of this. As your mother, I’m stepping in today to let those shameless vixen know, my Zhou Family will never tolerate such disgraceful women causing trouble."

Bai Zhuzhu bit her lip, fearfully clutching Zhou Lin’s clothes, "Brother Lin, I...never had such thoughts. Can you please explain to Aunt? You know my family background isn’t good; to get to where I am now has taken so much effort, I can’t give up."

She cried pitifully.

Zhou Lin patted her shoulder, protecting her behind him with a stubborn look in his eyes, "Mom, I’ve only ever seen Zhuzhu as a sister, you’ve misunderstood."

A flash of discontent passed through Bai Zhuzhu’s eyes. A sister?

She didn’t want to be a sister; she wanted to be the legitimate Young Madam Zhou.

Looking up at Cheng Zhiwei, Bai Zhuzhu deliberately said, "Sister Zhiwei, you heard, Brother Lin has always only seen me as a sister, can you please give me a way out?"

As if Cheng Zhiwei were trying to push her to her death.

Lin Yu scoffed, "A sister, do you think you’re worthy?"

Bai Zhuzhu swayed, tear-streaked, "I know my background isn’t prestigious, and it’s normal for you to look down on me, Madam, but I have always been trying to change all that. You can’t just take other people’s word for it and convict me."

Still indirectly targeting Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei frowned, suppressing her roiling emotions, and turned indifferently to take Lin Yu’s arm, "Mom, let’s go."

Lin Yu glared at Zhou Lin with bulging anger, sighed in disappointment, thinking if Zhou Lin had come just a bit later, Bai Zhuzhu would already have been out in the stratosphere by now. Such a pity.

And there was Cheng Zhiwei, indifferent and unmoved— it appeared she had completely given up on Zhou Lin.

"Zhou Lin won’t always be there to protect you," Lin Yu warned Bai Zhuzhu, "Don’t let me see you clinging to my son again."

"Aunt," Bai Zhuzhu peered from behind Zhou Lin, pretending to be obedient, sticking out her tongue and saying, "Thank you for your leniency, Aunt."

Taking advantage and still acting coy, deliberately disgusting people.
