Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Don’t let it delay you from seeking an affair to find your second spring

Cheng Zhiwei smiled reassuringly, "I’m really okay, Zhou Lin hugged me just in time, or else I would have definitely rolled under the seats."

She spoke frankly.

Meng Qiancheng’s expression changed slightly as some emotions surged, but he quickly concealed them and joked, "I’ve noticed that you’re especially unlucky whenever you’re with Zhou Lin. It’s not like he’s your jinx, right?"

Cheng Zhiwei thought about it and laughed, "Now that you mention it, it does seem that way."

Every injury she endured was because of him, calling him a bringer of bad luck wouldn’t be too far-fetched.

Meng Qiancheng sighed gently stroking her hair, with a hint of sadness, "Weiwei, do you blame me for not protecting you immediately?"

He indeed hadn’t reacted in time, and by the time he realized he should protect Cheng Zhiwei, Zhou Lin had already taken the blow for her.

Cheng Zhiwei’s foot ached, she shifted slightly moving to lean against the wall for support, "It’s okay, it was so chaotic at that moment, I didn’t even notice it myself."

Meng Qiancheng watched her clear eyes, knowing that she was just being polite.

She had seen Cheng Zhiyin about to be injured and didn’t hesitate to throw herself in the way, while Zhou Lin had immediately noticed and protected her.

In reality, he was the clown.

"Anyway, I should say I’m sorry," Meng Qiancheng said with genuine sincerity, somewhat eagerly, "Can you please not hold this incident against me, I..."

"Brother Qiancheng," Cheng Zhiwei cut him off, knowing what he wanted to say but not wanting to hear it, "I really don’t blame you, really."

Meng Qiancheng, seeing her somewhat resistant, smiled bitterly, "I got it, Weiwei. I’ve already notified Madam Zhou, and she’s on her way. Do you want to go back now or wait a little longer?"

Cheng Zhiwei looked inside and felt very grateful to Zhou Lin for saving her, but that was all she felt—gratitude. Since Meng Qiancheng mentioned that Madam Zhou had been notified, she felt reassured.

"We’ll leave after Madam Zhou gets here."

"Okay."

By the time Lin Yu arrived, Cheng Zhiwei directly explained what happened, "I’m sorry, it’s my fault that he got hurt."

Lin Yu was unconcerned, "He’s tough, he’ll be fine. Mainly, I’m glad you’re not injured."

"It’s getting late today, so I’ll leave now and come back to see him tomorrow," Cheng Zhiwei said politely.

"Ah, all right," Lin Yu didn’t ask her to stay.

So, when Zhou Lin came out after his examination, all he saw was Lin Yu alone.

A cold sullenness appeared on Zhou Lin’s stern face, "Where is she?"

"She left," Lin Yu replied indifferently, scanning him from head to toe to make sure he wasn’t seriously injured, and then she felt at ease, "She left with Doctor Meng."

Zhou Lin’s face darkened, and he silently cursed Cheng Zhiwei in his heart several times; he had acted without thinking to take the blow for her, had saved her again during the car ride when Meng Qiancheng deliberately hit the brakes, but what about her?

He hadn’t even left the hospital, and she had run off with Meng Qiancheng.

Lin Yu asked Zhang Yuanheng, "How is he?"

Zhang Yuanheng said, "There’s a slight fracture, but no big deal, he just needs some rest and he’ll be fine."

Lin Yu nodded, readjusting her bag on her shoulder, "Then he should stay here for a few days. I’ll inconvenience you."

"Sure, I’ll take care of everything."

After Lin Yu gave her instructions, she patted Zhou Lin’s shoulder, deliberately not mentioning that Cheng Zhiwei would come over tomorrow morning, "Then you should recover well, I’m going home now."

Soon, only Zhou Lin and Zhang Yuanheng were left in the corridor.

Zhang Yuanheng sneaked a glance at Zhou Lin’s darkened face, carefully suggesting, "Let’s go to the ward first."

Clutching his phone, Zhou Lin’s knuckles turned white, his expression blank as he walked away.

After Cheng Zhiwei returned home, the place had been tidied up. She asked Wang Mei to call Secretary Zhang and have someone come to pick up the car.

Having made the call, Wang Mei then asked, "How is the young master’s injury?"

"He was still being examined when I left, but after his mother arrived, I left," Cheng Zhiwei said. "I’m going to see him tomorrow morning."

Wang Mei smiled, "Then I will make soup for him."

Guo Cuihua touched Cheng Zhiwei’s hair and softly advised, "I know you and Zhou Lin aren’t on good terms right now, but he really did save you without a moment’s hesitation. Be a bit nicer when you see him tomorrow, okay?"

"I understand."

"And Qiancheng?"

"I had him go straight back," Cheng Zhiwei quietly said. After a few seconds of silence, she still told Guo Cuihua, "Brother Qiancheng and I really aren’t suitable, Mom. Please invite him to dine with us less often in the future."

Guo Cuihua was not ready to give up, "Do you really dislike him that much? Why?"

Cheng Zhiwei was silent for a long while before responding, "We don’t share common values."

There was no conversation during the night, and the next morning, as Cheng Zhiwei got up, Wang Mei’s soup was ready. After breakfast, Cheng Zhiwei and Wang Mei headed to the hospital together.

At the entrance of the hospital, Wang Mei handed the thermos to Cheng Zhiwei to take up, as she was off to the supermarket to buy groceries, then to think about how to make soup for three patients.

Cheng Zhiwei carried the thermos, moving sluggishly towards the ward.

Before she even reached the ward’s door, she could hear Secretary Zhang’s voice, "This medicine promotes bone healing. Doctor Zhang has insisted, it must be taken."

Zhou Lin sounded very impatient, "Aren’t I getting an IV right now?"

Getting an IV was already the limit of his patience, and now he had to take medicine?

Had Zhang Yuanheng become increasingly useless?

Secretary Zhang continued to coax with all his might, "Of course, taking the medicine will speed up the healing. You’ve injured your right arm. The sooner it heals, the better."

Cheng Zhiwei stood outside with the thermos, recalling that Zhou Lin was genuinely "difficult to medicate."

After standing for a while, as the back and forth in the ward continued endlessly, her feet began to hurt, so she symbolically knocked on the door and walked straight in.

Secretary Zhang greeted Cheng Zhiwei as if he saw a savior, quickly pushing the medicine into her hands, "Young Madam, you’ve finally arrived. This medicine helps heal the bones. Please find a way to make him take it. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."

After giving his instructions, he made a quick exit, even thoughtfully closing the door behind him.

Cheng Zhiwei frowned at the medicine in her hand, then held it up to Zhou Lin’s face, "Take your medicine."

Zhou Lin sneered coldly, his stern face full of scorn, "What’s your relationship with me that you need to meddle? Don’t waste your time here, don’t let it interfere with your search for a spring romance on the side."

Cheng Zhiwei ignored his sarcasm, her tone cool, "You’re aware that it would delay my search for a new love, then? So hurry up and take your medicine so I can leave."

Zhou Lin was instantly angered, his face growing even more indifferent the angrier he became, "Just leave it there. I’ll take it later."

Cheng Zhiwei looked at him with a derisive smile in her eyes, "Later? Will you be taking it, or will the trash can have the honor?"

His little schemes were as transparent as a child’s; how could she not understand them.

She sincerely wanted him to take the medicine and get better quickly, so they could disconnect and await the divorce.
