Chapter 109 From now on, I consider you my wife
Chapter 109: Chapter 109 From now on, I consider you my wife
"I will handle the situation with Bai Zhuzhu," Zhou Lin said calmly. "As for Zhenzhen, indeed I treated her wrongly in the past, and taking care of her is my responsibility."
"And what about Zhiwei?"
Zhou Lin paused, "She will still be my wife, the Young Madam of the Zhou Family."
Lin Yu saw his indifferent manner and became angry again, "Your wife, yet you don’t even come home, and the two of you sleep in separate rooms. Do you really consider her your wife?"
"I will change," Zhou Lin promised lightly.
Lin Yu: "..."
She strongly suspected Zhou Lin was merely placating her, but looking at his demeanor, it didn’t seem to be the case.
Yet she was finally pacified. "Change, how will you change?"
"Today, I will move to the master bedroom," Zhou Lin said without further explanation and left.
Lin Yu was stunned for a long while before she realized what Zhou Lin meant. Was he preparing to share a room with Cheng Zhiwei?
But, why does it feel so unreal?
The Zhou Family said they would change, and indeed they did.
During the several hours Lin Yu was there, both lunch and dinner were delivered to the master bedroom by Zhou Lin. Lin Yu deliberately listened outside the room for a while and heard that the couple didn’t communicate much, but their tone was decent, and there were no arguments.
Only then did she truly relax.
At nine o’clock in the evening, Cheng Zhiwei lay on the bed with the lights on, providing a sense of security, and dozed off for a bit.
She was instantly awake when the bedroom door opened.
Opening her eyes, she saw Zhou Lin.
She curled silently into the blankets and didn’t engage with him.
Then, the sound of water came from the bathroom.
Cheng Zhiwei was shocked for a moment. Sleepiness vanished, her eyes widened as she stared at the bathroom door. Why was Zhou Lin showering here? Was the bathroom in his room not usable?
After about ten minutes, the man emerged from the shower, a bath towel wrapped around his waist, exposing his muscular chest and abdomen to the air.
Zhou Lin was a very disciplined man. Even though his net worth was among the top in his field and women flocked to him like moths to a flame, he remained remarkably chaste, not indulging in a hedonistic lifestyle.
The only woman he had truly kept by his side was Bai Zhuzhu.
Cheng Zhiwei shut her eyes. She didn’t know why she thought of these things. Only after collecting her thoughts did she look back at Zhou Lin.
Then, within her gaze, Zhou Lin entered the walk-in closet. When he came out, he was dressed in pajamas. He lifted the blanket and lay down on the other side of the bed.
Cheng Zhiwei: "..."
She couldn’t understand, and she couldn’t bear to share a bed with Zhou Lin. She sat up abruptly, "What are you doing?"
Seeing her frightened and panicked expression, Zhou Lin’s eyes deepened as he said distantly, "Cheng Zhiwei, we are husband and wife."
The room fell silent.
Cheng Zhiwei found it laughable. Her fingers gripped the blanket tightly. During the day downstairs, he had fiercely defended Seo Zhenzhen as if she were their enemy.
Now, he said they were husband and wife. Didn’t he find this statement too ironic?
Cheng Zhiwei coldly said, "I thought Young President Zhou should know that with just your nod, we can end this relationship immediately."
Zhou Lin suddenly sat up, and Cheng Zhiwei thought he was going to leave, but instead, he turned, pulled her into his arms, covered them with the blanket, and whispered in her ear, "Are you done speaking? If so, let’s sleep."
Cheng Zhiwei’s body tensed up, stiff as a board. The sudden male scent brought back inescapable nightmares. Her breathing became rapid, and without hesitation, she struggled free and rolled off the bed on the other side.
Pale-faced, she said, "Don’t come near me."
Zhou Lin’s face darkened, "Cheng Zhiwei, see clearly who I am."
He was not that psychopath Wang Zhen.
Cheng Zhiwei’s hands and feet shook, her cheeks reflecting a fragile white sheen in the light, her long hair falling down and concealing the emotions in her eyes, "I’ll go to another room."
She had just moved when Zhou Lin’s icy voice came from behind, "Come here."
It was so forceful that it instilled fear.
Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t move her feet; she couldn’t bear to share a bed with Zhou Lin.
But in the end, she also didn’t dare to leave.
The room was terrifyingly quiet, with only the sound of their breathing fluctuating.
"Come here." Zhou Lin spoke again, his tone just as cold, but now it carried a subtle warning.
Cheng Zhiwei clenched her palm, a deep sense of powerlessness swelling in her pupils as she turned to look at Zhou Lin, "You know full well that..."
The rest of her words choked in her throat.
He was truly cruel.
Knowing that she didn’t want to be touched by anyone at the moment, yet he still came to torment her.
Zhou Lin leaned against the headboard, the light catching on his black silk pajamas, casting an unfathomable halo; he calmly said, "What, do you plan to hide from everyone for a lifetime?"
Cheng Zhiwei looked away, not planning to live like this for a lifetime, but she just needed more time to recover.
She just couldn’t get over that hurdle yet.
Zhou Lin peeled back the quilt, took a few steps toward Cheng Zhiwei, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into his embrace, looking down at her, "When you agreed to marry me, wasn’t it to become my true wife?"
Cheng Zhiwei was startled, looked up at him, not understanding what he meant by that.
"Starting from now, I will consider you my wife," Zhou Lin said.
Without a second thought, Cheng Zhiwei flatly replied with three words, "I don’t want."
She didn’t understand why Zhou Lin would say these things, but she also knew there was a catch; she wasn’t vain enough to think Zhou Lin was attracted to her and decided to spend his life with her.
So she rejected him straightaway, after all, Seo Zhenzhen was the one in Zhou Lin’s heart.
In fact, with a little guesswork, she could come up with some answers, such as the Zhou Family not agreeing with his relationship with Seo Zhenzhen, so he decided to put her in the spotlight to avoid Lin Yu’s wrath.
She was just his shield.
Thinking about it made her heart wrench with discomfort all over again.
Zhou Lin acted as if he hadn’t heard, his arms tightly encircling her waist, completely securing her in his embrace, as he commanded in a forceful, low voice, "I’m not asking for your agreement."
Cheng Zhiwei pushed against him forcefully; three years ago, no, even three months ago, if he had said this, her heart would have been stirred, and perhaps she would have dived headlong into his lies.
But now, she felt like she had fallen into a cage from which she could not escape.
She wanted to escape, but there was no direction.
She couldn’t even speak words of refusal anymore.
Zhou Lin’s gaze was dangerously intense, as if any more words from her, and tomorrow there would be a new trouble waiting for her to beg him for help.
Cheng Zhiwei stopped struggling and just stood there quietly, letting Zhou Lin hold her.
Lifeless.
After what seemed like an eternity, Zhou Lin’s deep voice resonated in her ear, "Sleep."
Cheng Zhiwei went quietly to the bed, lying down on one side, and after Zhou Lin turned off the main light, he lay on the other side, leaving only a dim orange lamp casting a hazy glow throughout the room.
Cheng Zhiwei lay flat, and eventually couldn’t hold back, tears quietly sliding down, soaking into her black hair.
Zhou Lin’s breathing gradually evened out in the silent room.
Cheng Zhiwei turned slightly with a minimal motion, curled up, her fist pressed to her lips, holding back her sobs.
