Chapter 810: Chapter 810 Things Remain the Same, but People Change

"Lord Jing Yan, do you still remember me?" Black Widow became even more excited upon hearing Jing Yan’s words.

"Of course I remember!" Jing Yan laughed, "My impression of you is very deep. What’s this, have you and Brother Liu Daquan..."

Jing Yan glanced at the two of them.

Liu Daquan and Black Widow had both aged, their hair had turned gray and white.

From the affection displayed between the two, it seemed that they had come together.

"Hehe, Li Ying married me twenty years ago!" said Liu Daquan with a cheerful laugh.

"Congratulations, congratulations!" Jing Yan gave a formal bow. He also felt that Liu Daquan and Black Widow Li Ying were quite a match. However, he had never expected the fierce Black Widow to actually marry Liu Daquan.

"This is... Gao Feng the adventurer?" Of course, Liu Daquan remembered the Fiery Flame Adventure Team, and remembered Gao Feng, but he hadn’t recognized him after so long. Although Gao Feng still looked young, Liu Daquan probably hadn’t seen him in a while.

"It’s me!" Gao Feng smiled and nodded slightly.

"Oh my, you and Lord Jing Yan... come on in, let’s talk inside!" Liu Daquan also noticed that Gao Feng’s relationship with Jing Yan was extraordinary.

Everyone entered the residence and chatted for a while.

"Where is Xiao Yue?" Jing Yan asked doubtfully as Liu Xiaoyue hadn’t appeared.

"Xiao Yue is at Feihua Academy. She joined Feihua Academy originally and then stayed there. Now, she’s an Outer Court Deacon at Feihua Academy," Liu Daquan said proudly when he mentioned his daughter Liu Xiaoyue.

The Feihua Academy he mentioned was one of the Three Major Academies in Guangying County.

Guangying County and Lanqu County were neighboring commanderies. Although Duyang City belonged to Lanqu County, the distance from Duyang City to Guangying County City was much closer than to Lanqu County City.

"That’s wonderful!" Jing Yan said sincerely.

"Without Lord Jing Yan, Xiao Yue wouldn’t have been able to embark on the path of cultivation, nor could she have become a Martial Artist. All this is thanks to Lord Jing Yan," Liu Daquan said gratefully.

"I haven’t done much," Jing Yan waved his hand dismissively.

In Black Wind Town, Jing Yan and Gao Feng stayed for one day.

As they were leaving, Jing Yan left Liu Daquan and Li Ying with two Life Extending Elixirs that could increase lifespan.

Liu Daquan and Li Ying were both Martial Artists in the Postnatal Realm. High-level Elixirs like the Longevity Pill were beyond their use, as they couldn’t withstand the potency. Therefore, Jing Yan specially refined gentler Life Extending Elixirs for them. The two elixirs could also extend their lifespans by about fifty years each.

As for providing them with elixirs for Martial Arts Cultivation, Jing Yan did not do so. Both of them had poor Martial Arts talents, and even with precious cultivation elixirs, it was very unlikely that they would successfully advance to the Innate Realm.

An additional fifty years of lifespan was quite a good result.

After leaving Black Wind Town, Jing Yan and Gao Feng once again arrived at Duyang City. The City Lord of Duyang City was no longer Bai Xue.

Jing Yan still remembered. The first time he came to Duyang City was to rescue Liu Xiaoyue from the hands of the Wei Family. The Nian Family of Duyang City had also helped Jing Yan back then. Jing Yan had once promised the Nian Family a favor. If the Nian Family ever needed Jing Yan’s help in the future, they could seek him out.

However, the Nian Family had never sought out Jing Yan.

This time, Jing Yan planned to settle the past debt by seeing if Elder Nian Lan of the Nian Family required assistance. If not, he would give some resources to Elder Nian Lan.

Jing Yan didn’t go to the Duyang City Lord Mansion, but instead directly went to the Nian Family residence.

"I am a friend of Elder Nian Lan, could you please announce my arrival?" Jing Yan said to the guard at the gate of the Nian Family residence.

"Elder Nian Lan?" The guard looked at Jing Yan.

"Yes, please pass on the message," Jing Yan nodded.

"Don’t talk nonsense, you look to be only about twenty years old. Elder Nian Lan has been deceased for almost twenty years now, how could you possibly be her friend?" The guard scoffed.

"Elder Nian Lan is deceased?" Jing Yan’s brow furrowed, "How did she die?"

Jing Yan’s countenance turned slightly grim.

Elder Nian Lan, although not highly skilled in Martial Arts Cultivation, was still a Martial Artist of the Innate Realm with a lifespan of two hundred years. When Jing Yan met her, Nian Lan should have been less than a hundred years old. Under normal circumstances, it shouldn’t be possible for her to have passed away at this point.

"How would I know? This is the Nian Family residence, now move along!" The guard waved his hand, attempting to shoo away Jing Yan and Gao Feng.

"Hmph!" Jing Yan let out a low, cold snort, releasing a subtle hint of pressure.

The guard’s face turned ashen, a chill rising in his heart.

"Call your Clan Patriarch to come here!" Jing Yan stared at the guard.

Within the Nian Family, the only person Jing Yan recognized was Elder Nian Lan. The favor he owed was to her. If Nian Lan had died under peculiar circumstances, Jing Yan would surely want to inquire.

"Alright! Okay then!" The guard shivered, turning quickly to enter the Nian Family residence.

The aura emanating from Jing Yan was too frightening; after feeling that slight breath of air, the guard immediately realized that the young man before him was a fearsome Martial Artist.

It didn’t take long before someone from inside the residence came out. Upon seeing Jing Yan and Gao Feng, he called out loudly.

"Are you the Nian Family Patriarch?" Jing Yan looked towards the man.

"Indeed! Who might you be?" the Nian Clan Patriarch asked.

"I ask you, has Elder Nian Lan died?" Jing Yan didn’t answer his question but asked directly instead.

"Do you know Elder Nian Lan?" The Nian Clan Patriarch paused, then said, "Elder Nian Lan did indeed pass away fifteen years ago. What is your relationship to her?"

"How did she die?" Jing Yan continued to inquire.

"Elder Nian Lan failed to control her Primordial Energy during a breakthrough, causing her Martial Arts Meridians to rupture, leading to her death soon after," the Nian Clan Patriarch said as though his spirit was not under his own control.

"Hmm? Who exactly are you? And what is your relationship with Elder Nian Lan?" After answering Jing Yan’s question, the Nian Clan Patriarch frowned and questioned.

Jing Yan and Gao Feng exchanged looks and both sighed inwardly.

If Nian Lan had been murdered, Jing Yan would definitely have sought revenge for her. But it turned out Nian Lan had died from injuries sustained during a breakthrough failure.

Now that Nian Lan had passed away, Jing Yan did not bother to bring up the past events with the Nian Clan Patriarch.

"Nevermind!" Jing Yan said softly.

Then he took out a Sumeru Ring.

"Nian Clan Patriarch, I owed Elder Nian Lan a favor. I didn’t expect that upon my visit, I would not get to see her. Inside this Sumeru Ring are some resources, which I had planned to give to Elder Nian Lan. Now, you can manage them!" Jing Yan handed over the Sumeru Ring to the Nian Clan Patriarch.

The Nian Clan Patriarch subconsciously took the Sumeru Ring, his consciousness once again drifting. When he came to his senses, Jing Yan and Gao Feng had vanished without a trace.

"How strange, what’s gotten into me today?" The Nian Clan Patriarch shook his head, feeling that his mind seemed to be influenced by some power during his conversation with the young man.
