Chapter 809: Chapter 809: Old Acquaintances of Black Wind Town

Jing Yan remained standing outside the room’s door, not pushing it open.

He raised his hand again and knocked several times on the door.

"Who’s there? Come in!" The pleasant voice had a hint of anger mixed in.

Jing Yan shook his head, her temper really hadn’t changed much. With that thought, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly, revealing a smile that came from the heart.

Just as Jing Yan was about to knock a third time, the door was abruptly pulled open, revealing a beautiful face with knitted brows.

The person inside the room was none other than Gao Feng!

Gao Feng’s mouth opened slightly, as if she wanted to scold someone, but when she saw that it was Jing Yan standing outside, all her words seemed to get stuck in her throat.

In the twinkling of an eye, her eyes brimmed with tears.

"I’m back!" Jing Yan said, gazing softly at Gao Feng.

Gao Feng had stepped into the Daoist Master Realm.

"Will you leave again?" Gao Feng asked in a calm tone.

"I only have one year left. After a year, I must leave the Heavenly Origin Continent, and it’s out of my control. However, if my strength is sufficient in the future, I can come back anytime," Jing Yan said.

Gao Feng said no more. She was not the type to pry too deeply into matters.

"Let’s go around and see places this year. The Heavenly Origin Continent is vast, and there are many places we haven’t been to," Jing Yan suggested to Gao Feng.

"Okay!" Gao Feng nodded.

...

"Saint Master?" Jing Yan took out the Communication Crystal Stone and saw that it was Shen Chong who had sent him a message.

"The ancestors of the Six Great Families have arrived at the Holy City..." The message was quite lengthy.

It essentially said that the ancestors of the Six Great Families had gone to the Holy City and had met with Saint Master Shen Chong. The intent of the Six Great Families was to request Shen Chong’s help in mediating with Jing Yan.

"These Six Great Families sure react quickly," Jing Yan scoffed.

Immediately after, Jing Yan sent a message to Shen Chong, "What do you think, Saint Master?"

Jing Yan knew that the Six Great Families had covertly supported the Gai Family during the recent great war. If the Six Great Families had nothing to say for themselves, Jing Yan wouldn’t mind paying a visit to their territories. Anyway, he wouldn’t act as if nothing had happened.

Now, the Six Great Families had already rushed to Holy City and were pleading for Saint Master Shen Chong to intercede on their behalf.

Jing Yan didn’t necessarily want to move against the Six Great Families or even annihilate them. If they were willing to cooperate, he could even forgive them this time. Hence, he directly asked for Shen Chong’s opinion—if Shen Chong thought it was okay to forgive these families, then he would.

Soon, Shen Chong’s message came back.

"The Six Great Families have been very humble this time, and their compensation is quite substantial; they have bled a lot," Shen Chong’s message read.

Although not explicitly stated, the implication was clear enough.

"Mm, let’s just leave it at that! I won’t meet with them. Tell them to stay well-behaved within their own territories from now on," Jing Yan messaged, "The compensation can be given to Gui Yang of the Splendid Dojo."

After sending the message, Jing Yan put away the Communication Crystal Stone.

How Shen Chong would deal with the Six Great Families was no longer Jing Yan’s concern. After all, Shen Chong was the Saint Master of the continent. If he did not know to take the opportunity to control the Six Great Families, that would be quite foolish.

Several days later, Jing Yan and Gao Feng left Donglin City.

Jing Yan only had one more year to stay on the Heavenly Origin Continent, and he felt that he should really spend this time properly with Gao Feng.

After a year, when he would leave, Jing Yan did not know when he might see her again. Perhaps, until his combat power reached the level of Guardian Chen Long, he might not have the chance to return to the Heavenly Origin Continent.

And taking Gao Feng to the Despair Abyss was even less likely. The Abyss was full of dangers, and it would be too risky for Gao Feng. Jing Yan did not believe he could ensure her complete safety unless he kept her living within the Qiankun Small World indefinitely, which was clearly not appropriate.

Duyang City, Black Wind Town.

One day, two young people, a man and a woman, arrived in the town. The man was handsome, and the woman, beautiful.

Black Wind Town was near the Moonlight Forest, and the town was bustling with adventurers. Normally, the appearance of two strangers wouldn’t attract much attention.

However, this particular man and woman caught everyone’s eye.

"Black Wind Town is still the same Black Wind Town; it hasn’t changed much in decades," the young man said to the woman.

Naturally, this young couple was Jing Yan and Gao Feng. After leaving Donglin City, their first stop was Black Wind Town.

It was where Jing Yan and Gao Feng first met.

Gao Feng’s eyes curved like crescent moons as she reminisced about the past, as if it was all happening again.

She remembered that, at the time, Jing Yan was not even at the Innate Realm but merely a Martial Artist at the Ninth Layer Heaven with impressive combat power.

Of course, she was just a Postnatal Martial Artist back then, whereas now, she had already reached the Daoist Master Realm.

The pair went to the Town Mayor’s residence.

"Is Mayor Liu Daquan in?" Jing Yan asked the guard at the gate.

"Who are you?" the guard asked with a frown.

"I’m a friend of Liu Daquan. Please let him know that Jing Yan has come," Jing Yan said with a smile.

"Alright, wait here for a moment, and I will notify him," the guard replied, turning to enter the residence.

Jing Yan and Gao Feng exchanged a smile and waited outside for Liu Daquan.

Soon after, hurried footsteps could be heard from inside; someone was clearly running fast.

Every year, Liu Daquan would send some resources to Donglin City to the Jing Family, as Black Wind Town had many properties belonging to Jing Yan. Liu Daquan had always kept his promise and had never embezzled resources meant for Jing Yan. He had been reliable for decades.

"Lord Jing Yan?" Liu Daquan, panting, rushed out and called eagerly upon seeing Jing Yan.

Jing Yan looked at Liu Daquan.

Compared to the past, Liu Daquan looked much older now.

Liu Daquan was just an ordinary Postnatal Martial Artist with a lifespan of a hundred years or so, and he was already around seventy.

"Lord Jing Yan, is it really you, you..." Liu Daquan began to choke up.

"Big Brother Daquan, what’s the matter?" Jing Yan asked with a smile. "What, aren’t you happy to see me? If that’s the case, I can leave right now."

"Eh?" Liu Daquan trembled and hastily stepped in front of Jing Yan.

"Happy! How could I not be happy? Lord Jing Yan, your visit is... I’m just so..." Liu Daquan stammered with excitement.

"Daquan, who is it?" At that moment, a voice called from inside the residence.

Then, another figure walked out.

Jing Yan’s eyes flickered. He found the person somewhat familiar.

"It’s Lord Jing Yan! Lord Jing Yan has come to see us," Liu Daquan promptly said.

"You... are you the Black Widow?" Jing Yan suddenly remembered.

There were not many people in Black Wind Town who had interacted with Jing Yan back then, and the Black Widow was one of them. Jing Yan also remembered that before Liu Daquan became the Town Mayor of Black Wind Town, he had been in trouble, but the Black Widow had stood by his side.
