Chapter 654: Chapter 654 Are Jing Family Disciples Easy to Kill?
Leaving the Despair Abyss and returning to the Heavenly Origin Continent, Jing Yan’s flying speed soared to its limit, as swift as wind and lightning.
Having spent only a few days, Jing Yan had entered the territory of Lanqu County.
Over a decade ago, after being pursued by the Gai Family, Jing Yan left Lanqu County in haste with many things weighing on his heart, especially concerning the people he was familiar with and his entire family.
Although he had made some preparations before leaving, he couldn’t help but worry.
Jing Yan couldn’t be one hundred percent certain whether the Jing Family still existed in Donglin City and whether his family had not been exterminated. If the Gai Family had decided to wipe out the Jing Family regardless of the cost, the Jing Family wouldn’t have been able to hold on. And the Holy City would not directly intervene to protect them.
To be honest, Jing Yan didn’t feel a particularly strong sense of belonging to his family. However, there were many people in the family he cared about, and if the Jing Family were destroyed because of him, Jing Yan would definitely not be able to accept it with peace of mind.
Upon entering Lanqu County, Jing Yan flew directly toward Donglin City. In less than a day, Donglin City was already within sight.
"That is..."
Jing Yan looked at the familiar city in the distance and then at the expanse of continuous buildings outside the city.
"Indeed, that’s Donglin City!"
"But... why are there so many buildings outside the city? Could it be that Donglin City has expanded?" Jing Yan frowned slightly.
"Let’s take a closer look!"
In an instant, Jing Yan descended near the cluster of buildings and then walked in.
"No, this isn’t an expansion of Donglin City. It seems... like a newly established town!" Jing Yan shook his head.
The streets of this town were filled with Martial Artists. Many of them carried sharp weapons at their sides, and comparatively speaking, these Martial Artists were strong, exuding a murderous aura from their bodies and their eyes sharp and cold.
The reason Jing Yan could tell at a glance that this place wasn’t an expansion of Donglin City was precisely because of these Martial Artists.
Among them, quite a few possessed Innate Realm Cultivation.
Although Donglin City had been rapidly developing before, after Jing Yan was pursued and left by the Gai Family, would they let Donglin City develop freely? Even if, for some reason, the Gai Family had some concerns and wouldn’t overtly target the Jing Family, wouldn’t they limit the growth of the Jing Family?
So, where did all these Innate Martial Artists come from?
Jing Yan observed his surroundings and saw that all the faces were unfamiliar. Moreover, the majority of them had a heavy murderous intent, obviously not good folk!
"I should find a place to gather some information first," Jing Yan thought, making a decision.
Luckily, there was a tavern nearby.
Typically, gathering information in taverns was most efficient.
Jing Yan entered the tavern without attracting anyone’s attention; few even bothered to look his way.
He observed that the tavern was filled with Martial Artists gathering together, drinking heavily, and talking loudly.
"Tomorrow, my team will enter the Black Stone Mountain Range! I hope we’ll have a good haul this time!" A tall Martial Artist loudly proclaimed, possessing Late Innate Cultivation, his strength was not bad.
"My team needs to wait a few days before we can enter the Black Stone Mountain Range again. Last time, we had bad luck encountering a pack of beasts, and we lost quite a few people. We need time to recruit some more," another person said, shaking his head.
"Ah, it’s really a bit inconvenient! Even though Black Stone Town has been established, it’s nowhere near as convenient as Donglin City in terms of resupplying. Not to mention other things, but take Elixir and Medicine, for example, it’s hard to buy high-quality ones in Black Stone Town," said a dark-faced man, shaking his head and sighing.
"That’s true! Donglin City now is going too far, they won’t even let us adventurers enter."
"Donglin City naturally has to be cautious! After all, one of the Jing Family elders is the City Lord of Donglin, and how many Jing Family Disciples have been assassinated over these years? The City Lord of Donglin restricting strangers from entering the city must also be to protect the people of the Jing Family," a refined-looking man chuckled, and many around him nodded in agreement.
"This town is called Black Stone Town?"
"Donglin City is restricting adventurers from entering the city?" Jing Yan heard everything said by the people in the tavern clearly.
He only had to release a bit of his Divine Soul power to envelop the entire tavern. Every word spoken by everyone couldn’t escape his ears and eyes.
"Ha ha ha... Protect? What a load of rubbish!"
Suddenly, a voice filled with disdain sounded.
Everybody who heard the voice turned to look.
Jing Yan also frowned and looked at the laughing man, a middle-aged man with a goatee. He had two companions by his side.
"You’re still going into the Black Stone Mountain Range to hunt those damned spiritual beasts?"
"How much profit do you make by hunting spiritual beasts?"
"How foolish! You’d be better off hunting Jing Family Disciples! The profits there are quite high," the goatee man laughed scornfully, his face flushed as if he had drunk a fair amount, slightly tipsy.
"Let me tell you!"
"My two brothers and I have specialized in hunting Jing Family Disciples these past few years, earning as much as millions of Spirit Stones."
"Heh, we had good luck yesterday, we killed four Jing Family Disciples in a single stroke making more than eighty thousand Spirit Stones. Think about it, how many spiritual beasts do you need to hunt to get that many Spirit Stones?" the goatee man said with a sneering tone.
"Hunting Jing Family Disciples? That’s not easy either! There are many strong members in the Jing Family, and we could easily be killed in turn," someone spoke up with a frown.
"The strong members of the Jing Family?"
"Ha ha, how dumb! Do you think those so-called strong members of the Jing Family dare to show their faces? If they so much as peek out, there’ll be even stronger people ready to kill them!" the goatee man sneered, glancing at the speaker.
"Big brother, why are you telling them this?"
"Now the disciples of the Jing Family have become savvy, it’s hard to kill them. If you tell them, won’t they be competing with us for business, making it even harder for us?" one of the goatee man’s companions said, frowning.
"Big brother, you’ve had too much to drink! Let’s leave," said another, shaking his head.
By then, Jing Yan’s face had turned frosty!
These scum were actually hunting Jing Family Disciples? Although from their words it seemed the Jing Family’s foundation was indeed still there, these brazen thugs discussing the hunting of Jing Family Disciples stirred a boiling murderous intent in Jing Yan’s heart.
He stood up and walked towards the three men with the goatee.
"The disciples of the Jing Family, are they easy to kill?" Jing Yan asked expressionlessly, his voice tinged with righteous anger.
"Of course, they’re easy to kill!"
"There’s nothing difficult about it, as long as you can find them, killing them is really easy!" the goatee man replied, without sensing Jing Yan’s murderous intent and without even lifting his head to the question.
"Is that so?" Jing Yan’s rage peaked, and he let out a mocking laugh.
