Chapter 653: Chapter 653 I’m Back Again
Jing Yan was slightly stunned upon hearing the words.
The person Golden Armor Guard Old Seven was referring to was clearly Tianshui. Over four thousand years ago, Tianshui had entered the Death Temple and obtained the Qiankun Ring while also unlocking its seal, receiving the inheritance of the Death Temple’s master.
Now, it seemed that the Golden Armor Guards of the Death Temple indeed did not care much about the identity of the inheritor. In their eyes, if one inheritor died, they could simply find another one.
However, there probably were differences among inheritors.
Take Jing Yan, for instance. Old Six and Old Seven clearly placed some importance on him and did not wish for Jing Yan to die. If they truly did not care, they wouldn’t have warned Jing Yan about the dangers within the Death Temple.
The reason they valued Jing Yan as an inheritor was likely due to his rapid progress in the past.
Had Jing Yan’s progress not been so fast, they probably would not have cared as much.
Taking a deep breath, Jing Yan steadied his mind.
"Thank you both for the warning. I’ve decided to leave the Death Abyss now and will return to the Death Temple when I’m stronger," Jing Yan once more expressed his gratitude to Old Six and Old Seven with a bow.
"Good!"
"Although we wish you could stay here longer, it’s been lonely for too long; we’d enjoy some company and fun. But if you want to leave, we won’t stop you and will immediately send you out," Old Six said, turning his gaze to Old Seven.
"Old Six, let me take Jing Yan out," Old Seven offered.
"Alright then, I’ll let you handle it since I’m your Sixth Brother. As the elder, it is only right to give way to the younger," Old Six said with a smile.
"Humph!" Old Seven snorted coldly.
"Jing Yan, come with me. There are only two viable paths to leave the Death Abyss. The first is to fly straight up, the same way you came down. However, the big array set by the master is now activated, and we aren’t able to shut it down. Flying straight out would almost certainly result in death. So, I’ll take you through the other path which is quite unique. Without my guidance, you’d probably wander for a hundred years without finding the exit," Old Seven promptly turned to Jing Yan and explained.
"Then please, lead the way," Jing Yan said with a smile.
Following Old Seven, the two figures quickly entered the ground fissure that the Copper Armor Guard and Silver-armored Guards had previously emerged from.
Beneath the surface lay another world, just as Old Seven had described, complex and labyrinthine. Without knowing the way out, one would be completely in the dark, directionless. Even with Jing Yan’s current strength and Divine Soul Sensitivity, he struggled to discern a clear path.
But following Old Seven posed no such problem.
The two figures sped along.
During the first two hours, Jing Yan felt they were continuously descending. After an hour, they began to ascend.
They walked for a little more than a day.
Golden Armor Guard Old Seven finally stopped.
"Jing Yan, do you see the light ahead?" Old Seven turned and pointed to a faint light in the distance.
"Yes," Jing Yan nodded.
"You can go there by yourself. My bringing you here is already at the limit. As ordered by the master, this is as far as I can go. But don’t worry, once you reach that light, you’ll have completely left the Death Abyss," Old Seven continued.
"Understood. I’ll go on alone," Jing Yan said, looking at Old Seven.
"Go! I hope to see you again soon," Old Seven waved his hand and then turned, disappearing swiftly into the darkness.
Jing Yan looked toward the light in front of him, his feet suddenly stirred, and he lightly activated his Primordial Energy, racing swiftly towards it.
The light seemed close, but only upon actually covering the ground did he realize the distance was substantial. Even with Jing Yan’s speed, it took nearly half an hour to finally arrive.
Jing Yan slowed down and took a deep breath.
"Finally, I’m leaving..." Jing Yan’s emotions fluctuated.
He had spent roughly eleven years in the Death Abyss. He wondered how many people on the Heavenly Origin Continent still remembered him.
With these thoughts, Jing Yan’s figure flickered as he dashed out. It was a valley mouth, and upon rushing out, Jing Yan immediately surveyed his surroundings.
A dark red sky!
Although he could no longer see the Death Abyss, it was clear he was still within the Despair Abyss.
After some time, Jing Yan confirmed that he was in the Buffer Zone of the Despair Abyss.
With Jing Yan’s current strength, not much in the Buffer Zone posed a significant threat to him.
Humans?
There were not many Martial Artists of the Dao Emperor Realm in the entirety of the Heavenly Origin Continent. It would be difficult for Human Martial Artists in the Buffer Zone to suppress Jing Yan.
Divine Race?
Only a few of the Divine Race could surpass Jing Yan, and such beings seldom ventured into the Buffer Zone.
As for Divine Beasts!
Indeed, many in the Buffer Zone had reported seeing Divine Beasts. However, it was important to note that what they encountered were generally Pseudo Divine Beasts, not actual Divine Beasts.
Lesser Pseudo Divine Beasts could at most compare to early-stage Human Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists. Early Stage Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists like Jing Yan could easily overpower low-level Pseudo Divine Beasts.
Furthermore, encountering a Pseudo Divine Beast in the Buffer Zone also depended on luck, and it was not something one could see at will.
Despite this, Jing Yan remained cautious. He flew swiftly in the sky, releasing his Divine Soul to sense any potential dangers.
Using his Divine Soul, Jing Yan made a startling discovery: an unusual wave was present within his Divine Soul, a kind of mental fluctuation that he had not possessed before.
Jing Yan had the feeling that this Divine Soul thought could directly express his intentions without the need for speech.
"Jing Yan, your Divine Soul is certainly strong. To think you could generate your own Divine Thought in the Dao Emperor Realm," Tianshui’s voice came through.
"Divine Thought?" Jing Yan paused mid-flight.
"Yes, Divine Thought! Sigh, much as I don’t want to admit it, your Divine Soul is powerful. Normally, Martial Artists only develop Divine Thought when they step into the Saint Realm," Tianshui said, seemingly with a light sigh.
"Elder, what uses does Divine Thought have?" Jing Yan asked eagerly, his eyes brightening.
"It has many uses, you will have to explore them by yourself!" Tianshui said, and then he fell completely silent, offering no response to Jing Yan’s few further inquiries.
Shaking his head, Jing Yan activated his Sky Wings and dashed towards the distance like lightning.
Several days later!
"Ha ha ha..."
"I, Jing Yan, have returned!"
Looking back at the dark red world behind him and the slightly unfamiliar yet familiar world before him, Jing Yan let out a loud laugh full of relief.
