Chapter 900: Chapter 869: Offering Help Proactively
Xie Wu glanced at Huo Yingjie, seeking his approval.
"Go ahead and try to comfort the elderly, make sure they are not stressed," Huo Yingjie said. "Take good care of Zhou Yuanchao’s family on the way."
After all, they were elderly and needed more attention.
"Yes, Boss," Xie Wu replied, then turned and left.
He Tiantian thought for a moment, pulled a stack of money from her bag, and said, "Xie Wu, this money is for the round-trip tickets. Don’t forget to buy them for Zhou Yuanchao’s family."
"Yes, Sister-in-law," Xie Wu replied, taking the money.
He only had enough money for his own round-trip ticket, not extra to buy tickets for others.
After making these arrangements, He Tiantian turned to the people in the room and said, "I’ve worried grandfather, grandmother, grandaunt, and granduncle."
"Ah, it’s a blessing in disguise!" Old Madam Huo said. "You really have had a hard time."
"Father-in-law, mother-in-law, I haven’t sent a telegram there yet; what do you think?" He Tiantian asked. With half a month until vacation, she hesitated, unsure whether to send a telegram to her in-laws.
Everyone looked at Old Master Huo, letting the head of the family make the decision.
Old Master Huo thought for a moment and said, "No need to notify them. I’ve just asked the doctor, and Yingjie will be discharged in a couple of days. Since half a month is left and your second uncle and aunt will be back in Yanjing soon, we can explain then."
"That’s better," Old Madam Huo agreed. "It’s the end of the year, and it’s indeed a busy time with lots of things to sum up, so let’s not tell them."
"Zheqian, Yingjun, you need to investigate the cause quickly and put some pressure on them," Old Master Huo instructed. "This grandson of mine has a fate full of hardships, constantly getting into trouble. We, the Huo Family, keep a low profile, which has made some people underestimate us."
"Yes, Father," Huo Zheqian said gravely. How could he face his younger brother after an incident happened right under his watch!
"Then you two may leave," Old Master Huo said. "Make sure to handle this matter properly and show them what the Huo Family is capable of."
"Yes, Grandfather," Huo Yingjun nodded, leaving with his father.
Seeing Old Master Huo and Old Madam Huo angry, He Tiantian comforted them: "Grandfather, Grandmother, it’s cold, you should go back first. I’ll stay here at the hospital."
"How could we feel at ease leaving you alone?" Old Madam Huo said, looking at He Tiantian, whose dark circles were prominent, feeling somewhat heartbroken.
Song Chunli quickly said, "Dad, Mom, you should go back first. I’ll stay here and help Tiantian take care of Yingjie."
Old Madam Huo was a bit surprised. Had her elder daughter-in-law come around at this crucial moment?
"Second brother and his wife are not here, and you’re getting older. As the eldest aunt, I wouldn’t be able to face them when they return to Yanjing if I didn’t take good care of my nephew," Song Chunli said with a smile. "I’m here, so Dad, Mom, you go back first."
Old Madam Huo and Old Master Huo nodded and replied, "Alright, we’ll head to Maoer Alley first. Tiantian, don’t worry about the kids at home. We’ll help look after them. We’ll have someone prepare lunch and bring it over to you."
"Thank you, Grandfather, Grandmother," He Tiantian nodded slightly. She was already worried about leaving Grandma Wang alone at home with the three children, and feared the kids might go out and catch cold in the harsh winter weather.
"We’re all family; there’s nothing to thank!" Old Madam Huo said. "Yingjie, you rest well. We’re here, and you can’t sleep properly, which delays your recovery further."
"Then Grandfather, Grandmother, be careful on your way home, and don’t catch a cold from the cold wind," Huo Yingjie cautioned, feeling guilty as the elderly couple had braved the snow to come see him.
He had never thought that under the heavens, there would be so much spying! It must be that his work was too intriguing.
"Hmm!" Old Madam Huo nodded, and she left with the Old Master, heading back to Maoer Alley, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie’s home.
After her in-laws left, Song Chunli smiled and said, "Tiantian, Yingjie, if there is anything you need, just tell me, and I’ll take care of it."
"Thank you, Auntie Song, I’m okay for now," Huo Yingjie smiled. "Don’t tire yourself out on my account."
"It’s no trouble, there’s not much else I can help with, so I’ll just do the little things," Song Chunli said as she picked up the hot water flask, which was almost empty. "You two talk, I’ll go get some hot water."
"Thank you, Auntie Song," Huo Yingjie expressed his gratitude.
"No need to thank me, it’s what I should do," Song Chunli said, taking the hot water flask and leaving.
He Tiantian smiled and said, "Actually, Auntie Song is quite nice."
"Heh, she’s alright," Huo Yingjie replied. "Come, help me to the bathroom."
He Tiantian was momentarily stunned, her face flushing with embarrassment, but she realized if she didn’t help, someone else would have to take him to the bathroom.
"Okay, take it slow," He Tiantian said, supporting Huo Yingjie to the restroom.
Huo Yingjie had a cane and didn’t need He Tiantian to follow him into the men’s room.
After Huo Yingjie relieved himself, He Tiantian helped him wash his hands and escorted him back to the hospital bed.
By then, Song Chunli had already fetched the hot water and poured a cup for Huo Yingjie, saying, "Have some water."
"No need, Auntie Song," He Tiantian replied. "Auntie Song, Brother Yingjie is going to sleep. Could you watch over him while I check on Wang Ying? I’m worried about her being over there alone, getting too emotional."
"Go ahead, go ahead, she is a benefactor of the Huo Family," Song Chunli replied. "Don’t worry about Yingjie."
He Tiantian smiled, nodded, and said, "Then I’ll leave him in your care, Auntie Song."
After making sure Huo Yingjie was comfortable, He Tiantian left.
Wang Ying’s eyes were red and bloodshot, but she continued to stare unblinkingly at the clock on the wall.
He Tiantian poured Wang Ying a cup of water and said, "Wang Ying, have some water."
Knowing she couldn’t persuade Wang Ying, He Tiantian stopped trying and simply sat quietly beside her.
Sometimes, Wang Ying would get up and walk over to the ICU, looking inside through the glass window.
Just before midnight, Zhou Yuanchao woke up again and saw Wang Ying and He Tiantian standing outside the window, tears appearing in his eyes.
Zhou Yuanchao felt scared but relieved that he hadn’t died.
He still had a wife, children, parents, and a sister who needed him.
However, Zhou Yuanchao didn’t regret his actions, and he would do the same if given another chance.
In his heart, as long as the boss was there, everything else could be handled.
It seemed that he had gambled correctly this time.
Seeing her husband cry, Wang Ying quickly wiped away her tears to avoid upsetting him further.
Doctor Liu came in, conducted another check, and smiled, "You’ve passed the critical phase, but your body is still weak. You need to rest more and try not to get too emotional."
Zhou Yuanchao blinked, indicating he understood.
With the doctor’s diagnosis, Wang Ying and He Tiantian could finally feel relieved.
At noon, food was delivered from home, and He Tiantian arranged for Wang Ying to have a bit more, urging her to eat more.
