Chapter 882: Chapter 851: First Day of Class

Driving her pale yellow Beetle, she was stopped at the school entrance and couldn’t enter.

He Tiantian took out her faculty ID, showed it to the old gatekeeper, and smiled, "Old Zhang, may I have your esteemed surname?"

The gatekeeper, seeing that she really was a faculty member and could afford to drive a car, and that it was Teacher He, quickly smiled and said, "My family name is Zhang. Teacher He, you can go in now."

Now that they were acquainted, he wouldn’t need to check again in the future.

"Thank you, Old Zhang," He Tiantian said with a smile, pulling out two packs of cigarettes from her bag behind her, "From now on, please open the gate for me."

Old Zhang was, after all, in charge of the gate, opening and closing it was his job.

"No need, this is my job," Old Zhang quickly refusing, not daring to accept, as they were quality cigarettes.

"My class times are not fixed, sometimes I might come later, or leave earlier, I will trouble you then, Old Zhang," He Tiantian smiled, "Please keep them, no one at my home smokes, they would be useless if I took them back."

"Then I’ll keep them," Old Zhang took the cigarettes, opened the main gate for He Tiantian, and usually others also gave him cigarettes, it wasn’t a big deal, so he no longer refused.

"Thank you, Old Zhang," He Tiantian smiled, then started her car and went in.

He Tiantian knew the way, she drove directly to a vacant area near the office building of the Traditional Opera and Film Literature Department, then locked her car door and took her large shoulder bag inside.

It was He Tiantian’s first day at work, she felt a bit excited and cautiously approached the office door, gently knocking.

"Come in," a female teacher’s voice came from inside.

He Tiantian pushed the door open and politely said, "Hello everyone, I am the new teacher He Tiantian, currently a Chinese teacher in the Traditional Opera and Film Literature Department, teaching courses related to Chinese. Nice to meet you all, please take good care of me."

The two male teachers and two female teachers inside all turned to look at He Tiantian, all slightly stunned.

They all knew a new colleague had joined the office, teaching first-years, who hadn’t had any classes during the previous military training period, so she hadn’t come.

While they were talking, Vice Director Wu came in, saw He Tiantian, and hurriedly introduced, "This is the new Teacher He. Teacher He, the female teacher sitting opposite you is Teacher Xiao Chen, the male teacher on your right is Teacher Da Chen, the other male teacher is Teacher Zhou, and this female teacher is Teacher Liu."

He Tiantian listened and smiled slightly, "Hello, four teachers."

Teacher Liu, in her forties, laughed spontaneously, "Oh dear, our new Teacher He is so beautiful, and a talented lady too, a rare find indeed!"

"Teacher Liu is too kind," He Tiantian said bashfully, glanced at her watch, "By the way, where is building number four? I need to go teach a class now, after class lets out at noon, I’ll treat everyone to lunch."

It was He Tiantian’s first class, so she couldn’t afford to be late.

"That’s too kind of you," Teacher Liu laughed, "Building four is easy to find, go out, turn right, and just keep walking straight, the fourth building you encounter will be building number four."

He Tiantian was very thankful, bowed slightly to everyone, then said to Vice Director Wu, "Director Wu, I’m heading to class."

"Go on, don’t be late," Vice Director Wu smiled, watching as He Tiantian left.

After He Tiantian had gone, everyone looked at Vice Director Wu, expecting him to explain further.

"Director, what’s the story with He Tiantian that makes you so polite?" asked Teacher Liu, who had worked with Vice Director Wu the longest and was also schoolmates with him, thus could speak a bit more casually than the others.

Vice Director Wu chuckled and replied, "Well, you’re all my capable subordinates, I won’t hide it from you, she was specially mentioned by the dean. As for her family background, I don’t know for the time being, just take it easy, behave normally, and make sure not to deliberately make things difficult or exclude her."

Teacher Da Chen’s eyes lit up, "Director, Teacher He is really beautiful. Is she married?"

"Not quite sure about that. You are colleagues, these things, you will naturally find out in time," said Vice Director Wu, "Okay, let’s get back to work, I’ve already introduced you, and you’ve met each other now."

After Vice Director Wu left, the atmosphere in the office became more lively. Teacher Xiao Chen, a young unmarried lady, admiredly said, "I really like the dress she was wearing, it looked so nice!"

"Yes, and the shoes were very nice too," Teacher Liu commented, "But I like the bag she carried on her shoulder even more. I’ve almost never seen it in Yanjing."

Teacher Zhou, the oldest, chuckled, "Hehe, you young people, isn’t it nice!"

"Teacher Zhou is still energetic in his old age, so youthful," praised Teacher Liu, "A pillar of our department indeed."

"Hehe, I dare not accept such praise!" Teacher Zhou waved his hand, refusing to take credit, "Talented people will always emerge; our school’s faculty strength and student body grow each year, it’s all thanks to everyone’s hard work!"

"Hehe, yes, there are so many students this year and quite a few promising ones too," Teacher Liu said, "Taking advantage of the cultural reforms, we should produce more films and TV shows to create greater impact."

The teachers had shifted from talking about He Tiantian to discussing the school’s development and the flourishing of the arts.

Meanwhile, He Tiantian followed Teacher Liu’s directions, continued walking straight ahead, and indeed found building number four. She entered the arranged classroom according to the schedule.

The classroom was already full of students, and it was a lecture hall for large classes, with students from three different classes attending, totaling about a hundred people.

He Tiantian got the schedule and the list of students’ names.

As He Tiantian entered, everyone assumed she was a student.

They thought in amazement, "Wow, this student is so beautiful, why don’t I remember seeing her before!"

Everyone started whispering to each other, asking around, trying to find out more about He Tiantian.

He Tiantian was a bit nervous; though she had previously been a teacher, her classes had only had about twenty students, fifty-odd pairs of eyes, but now, she was being stared at by so many people, a sea of heads and eyes.

She took a deep breath to calm herself down.

He Tiantian smiled, walked up to the lectern, and said with a smile, "Hello everyone, I am He Tiantian, your teacher for the Modern and Contemporary Literature course."

After He Tiantian finished speaking, she picked up a piece of chalk and wrote three characters on the blackboard, "He Tiantian."

"Ah?" everyone was startled, "So she’s the teacher, no wonder she looked familiar!"

The freshman of the directing department were also there, surprised, "When did the Traditional Opera and Film Literature Department start having such attractive teachers?"

"Are all the teachers from the Traditional Opera and Film Literature Department this good-looking?" some people quietly discussed, while others looked towards the front where Teacher He stood.

Initially, everyone’s curiosity about the teacher was understandable.

He Tiantian, having been a student herself, naturally understood the reasons. After everyone had their say and discussed it, they could focus on the lecture.
