Chapter 806: Chapter 775: Injury and Hospitalization

Seeing the meal that Grandma Wang had prepared, He Tiantian felt moved.

"Thank you, Grandma Wang," He Tiantian said. "If it weren’t for you, Yingjie and I were bound to make some sacrifices because of the children. Now that you help us take care of the children and even look after me, I am very touched."

"Alright, I don’t consider you an outsider, so don’t treat me like one," Grandma Wang said. "Hurry up and eat. I’ve already bathed the kids; they can be taken to the room to rest."

"Okay!" He Tiantian replied and then turned to the kitchen.

Huo Zhekun had been working overtime, and Mother-in-law Jiang Lifang was on the night shift.

After finishing her meal, He Tiantian went next door to keep some rice porridge warm for her father-in-law in the electric rice cooker and also prepared some hangover tea with hot water.

It was usually either Grandma Wang or He Tiantian who took the night shift when the mother-in-law was working.

Running a home with care, loving family members wholeheartedly.

He Tiantian had been very busy these days, so Grandma Wang took over the household chores.

However, He Tiantian would buy some vegetables or braised meat from outside, which could be eaten straight after arriving home. Grandma Wang only needed to cook the rice or make some seasonal vegetables.

For convenience at breakfast, He Tiantian also bought some top-quality handmade noodles to keep at home.

In the morning, she would cook some vegetable noodles, add a few pieces of braised meat, a small side dish, and a poached egg – a simple yet nutritionally rich breakfast was ready.

At noon, He Tiantian wasn’t coming back for lunch anymore, and neither were Huo Zhekun and Jiang Lifang. Only Grandma Wang stayed at home to eat with the two children.

After school started, with the students attending military training, He Tiantian would go to the dorms every noon to check on them, asking if they had any difficulties. During the military training, He Tiantian regularly stopped by and brought medicated oil and Huoxiang Zhengqi water.

For students feeling dizzy or suffering from heatstroke, these could provide some relief.

It took a week for He Tiantian’s life to stabilize.

When the weekend came, He Tiantian rested. She didn’t go anywhere and took a good long sleep.

Cui Ying and Huashan had already started setting up their shop, having rented the space and completed most of the renovation.

"Tiantian, what do you think about this design for the interior of the shop?" Cui Ying brought over a few design sketches that she had made herself.

She had learned painting from her father since childhood, using brushes for her artwork, which now extended to her design sketches as well.

He Tiantian was surprised and asked, "Is this Huashan’s design?"

"No, it’s mine," Cui Ying said. "You see, the houses around here are old and made of wood, so it’s enough to just do some minor renovations. As for the interior, we are following the old layout, but the furniture, curio stands, all have a classical style with a modern touch. Not only does it make the room brighter, but it also allows us to display many things."

"That’s great, you decide," He Tiantian said. "You’re busy with the antique shop all day long, so you’re not doing your own job anymore."

Cui Ying laughed and said indifferently, "As a Chinese literature major, I initially went to work with Huashan. Now that Huashan has resigned, I don’t want to work there either. Anyway, Huashan often needs to go out to collect items, and someone has to mind the shop. I thought I’d come over to take care of it instead of hiring someone else."

"You’re willing to give up such a stable job with benefits?" He Tiantian became even more curious. Huashan, as soon as he mentioned starting a business, didn’t hesitate to resign from his job, and so did Cui Ying.

"There’s nothing to miss!" Cui Ying said, "Dealing with those cultural relics’ documents every day is pretty boring, too. Running a shop is better, with more flexible time, and I’ll have time to read books."

He Tiantian was somewhat puzzled and asked, "Logically speaking, isn’t running a shop even busier? My braised meat shop is only two rooms big, and I’m already overwhelmed with work."

"Hehe, the antique business isn’t like your braised meat shop," Cui Ying said with a mischievous smile, "There’s a saying in the trade, ’Open for three years without selling, sell once and you eat for three years.’ That’s how it’s described. Although it’s not as slow as that saying implies, it’s definitely not a situation where customers are flocking in all the time."

"Oh, there is such a saying," He Tiantian nodded, "Not bad at all, doing what you love is better than anything. Besides, with Huashan being so capable, you don’t need to work so hard to support the family."

"That’s what I think, too," Cui Ying said with a smile, "I’ve always enjoyed reading books; now, I’ll have plenty of time for reading."

"That’s great. I’m a teacher at our alma mater now, if you want to borrow books, you can use my library card," He Tiantian said, having found that after graduating, she had less time for reading and most often was left looking at her account books.

She should also settle down and read a few books sometime in the future.

"That would be fantastic," Cui Ying smiled, "Our alma mater is a century-old prestigious school with many classic books you can’t see elsewhere. As a teacher, your library card should make it easier to borrow."

Cui Ying hadn’t thought of this before and was pleasantly surprised to learn it now.

While He Tiantian and Cui Ying were speaking, Wu Youliang ran over, his face a mix of sorrow and anger.

"Wu Youliang, what’s wrong?" He Tiantian felt a twinge of concern. Normally Wu Youliang liked to joke, but he was generally a pretty steady person. If it wasn’t something serious, he would never have such an expression!

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Wu Youliang hurriedly said, "Jingli has injured Lin Xiaoru and has been arrested by the police."

"What?" He Tiantian was taken aback, "They fought? Which police station took Jingli? How badly is Lin Xiaoru injured?"

"She’s been taken to Chengnan Police Station. Lin Xiaoru fell to the ground and couldn’t get up. No idea what happened, but she’s been taken to the city hospital," Wu Youliang said, "I got notified by my mother and went to see Jingli, but they refused to let me."

After thinking, He Tiantian said, "Cui Ying, take Wu Youliang to find Qin Li; her uncle seems to be a captain at Chengnan Police Station, so they should be able to get more detailed information. I’m headed to the city hospital now to ask my mother-in-law about Lin Xiaoru’s exact condition – whether it’s a real injury or a feigned one."

Cui Ying nodded and said, "Okay, I’ll take Wu Youliang over there right now."

"I’m counting on you guys," Wu Youliang said gratefully. Having friends to help out in times of trouble brought some warmth to his anxious and infuriated heart.

"Yeah, let’s act separately," He Tiantian said. After Wu Youliang and Cui Ying left, she informed Grandma Wang of the situation, got changed into a dress, and went to the hospital to find grandma.

He Tiantian rode her bicycle to the hospital, her mind preoccupied with the situation, pedaling swiftly and arriving in less than twenty minutes.

At that time, Jiang Lifang was in the middle of a consultation, with a long line of patients waiting outside.

He Tiantian, with an urgent matter at hand, could not care for formalities and went straight into the consultation room.

Jiang Lifang got startled, but upon seeing that it was He Tiantian, she gestured for her to wait behind the curtain in the examination room.

After seeing another patient, she paused and didn’t call anyone else in.

"Tiantian, what happened at home?" Jiang Lifang asked. It was Sunday, and the weather was very hot; usually, a daughter-in-law would stay at home and not come out.
