Chapter 759: Chapter 728: Admiration, Accounting_1
He Tiantian packed up her things, ready to head home from work.
Just then, the classroom representative, Zhang Mengmeng, brought in the homework assignments and said, "Teacher He, here are the homework books."
"Thank you," He Tiantian smiled and looked at the girl in simple clothing, somewhat thinly dressed, "Aren’t you cold?"
Zhang Mengmeng shook her head and replied, "Not cold, Teacher He. After school, I read books inside my warm blanket in the dormitory."
"Mhm, take care of yourself," He Tiantian said. "If you have any difficulties, you can talk to me."
"Okay, Teacher He," Zhang Mengmeng said with a beaming smile, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll head out first."
"Goodbye." He Tiantian smiled. She knew Zhang Mengmeng’s family was not well-off. She wanted to help, but she was also afraid of hurting Zhang Mengmeng’s pride.
He Tiantian put on her coat, hat, and scarf.
Outside the building, the wind howled!
He Tiantian shrank her neck and headed over to the bike shed, found her Phoenix brand women’s bicycle, and placed the books and homework in the front basket.
"Teacher He," a voice came from behind. It was a boy.
He Tiantian, pushing her bike, turned and asked, "Sun Hao, what’s up? It’s quite late, aren’t you going to have dinner?"
Sun Hao laughed heartily and said quietly, "I’ll go for dinner in a bit. I saw you while playing basketball over there and came to say hello."
"Alright, I’m heading home. You should hurry up and eat," He Tiantian said. "Playing basketball is good for your health, but remember to wipe off the sweat and put on clothes quickly after to avoid catching a cold."
"Thank you for reminding me," Sun Hao said with a smile, holding a basketball in his arms.
He Tiantian nodded with a smile, rode her bike, and left against the cold wind.
Once He Tiantian was far away, a few boys came over, patted Sun Hao on the shoulder, and said, "Sun Hao, Teacher He is married now. Stop looking at her with those eyes."
"Ah!" Sun Hao sighed in melancholy, "It’s a pity."
"If Teacher He weren’t married, all of us would have tried to win her over," another boy said. "But now that she’s married, let it be. Besides, I’ve heard that Teacher He’s husband is a military man. If you guys mess around, it’s like tampering with a military marriage."
The words of the boy caused everyone to sigh deeply.
Sun Hao hung his head, silent.
As the group headed to the cafeteria together, Sun Hao felt that the tantalizing braised pork ribs in front of him didn’t taste as good as they used to.
His mind was full of Teacher He’s voice and smile.
He vividly remembered how, half a month ago, when Teacher He appeared at the classroom door, the noisy room fell silent and everyone’s gaze turned to the elfin woman standing at the entrance.
How could this woman’s eyes be so bright?
How could this woman’s skin be so fair?
How could this woman’s figure be so graceful?
Teacher He walked in front of the podium and began to speak.
How can this woman’s voice be so pleasant?
Sun Hao’s heart felt like it had been struck heavily, suddenly stopping in its tracks, but then it began to beat even faster.
When he got to the dorm, Sun Hao couldn’t focus on reading, so he went to bed to sleep.
In his dreams, it was still her shadow, and in the dreams, he even did such and such things with Teacher He.
Alas, when Sun Hao woke up in the early morning, he heaved a long sigh and decided to keep these feelings hidden in his heart.
Teacher He remained that beautiful and gentle teacher.
Sun Hao continued to be that well-mannered good student, waiting to graduate from college and, following his father’s plan, step into a career in politics.
In the midst of busyness, the lunar March 8th arrived, the day when the Chengnan Sanfeng Bridge Branch opened for business.
At the end of last year, some new people were hired and, after training, were already capable of holding their own, and there was sufficient staff.
The Sanfeng Bridge braised meat and dim sum had already built a good reputation among Nan City’s residents, so on the opening day, the business on the south side of the city was very good.
Sun Sihao became manager of both shops, overseeing the sales and supervising production at both locations, while Qian Shikun continued to manage the raw materials, arranging daily deliveries of fresh meat to both shops.
Wu Youliang, his father, and his cousin came over to offer their congratulations.
Since the opening of her shop, He Tiantian has been supplied by them, and they had already secured livestock and poultry acquisition merchants in several surrounding counties. Though it was hard work, they indeed made money. Now with He Tiantian opening a new shop, they brought a significant gift.
After the opening, He Tiantian encouraged everyone and distributed red packets for the occasion, then took a few guests to a nearby restaurant for a meal.
"Wu Youliang, how is Jingli doing?" He Tiantian asked, counting the days, she should be due very soon.
Wu Youliang grinned from ear to ear and said, "Jingli is doing very well. She gave birth to a son the night before last. She is now at home going through confinement. After finishing confinement, my mom and Jingli will come to the city together to take care of the baby."
"What?" He Tiantian was surprised, "Jingli has already given birth? That’s great! I should have gone to visit, but as you see, I’m just too busy right now. When Jingli comes to the city, I’ll visit her then. When you go back, please explain to her, and don’t let her be upset, okay?"
"She knows you’re busy," Wu Youliang said, "She even told me that after her confinement, she wants to go shopping with you and buy clothes. You have good taste; you can help her pick out nice ones."
"All right, it’s a deal," He Tiantian nodded, "Come on, today we’re celebrating our grand opening, so in place of wine, I’ll toast you all with tea, wishing our business to be booming."
"To a booming business," everyone chimed in.
After the opening, He Tiantian got even busier, which made her consider the idea of looking for a helper, though she didn’t have someone she could trust for the time being.
Jiang Lifang wanted to help her daughter-in-law, but she only knew medical practices, fine with surgeries but not with managing account books – all those numbers made her head spin.
"Tiantian, you can’t earn all the money in one day; you’ve gotten thinner," Jiang Lifang said with heartache when she noticed He Tiantian had lost some weight since the New Year.
Seeing her mother-in-law worried, He Tiantian smiled and said, "Mom, it’s okay, I can still handle it. The reason I’ve lost weight is that I’ve shed the extra pounds from the New Year’s feasting."
"You had extra pounds?" Jiang Lifang scrutinized her up and down, "Eat more tomorrow; you can’t keep losing weight. Yingjie would be heartbroken if he saw you like this! By the way, do you need an accountant? I see you have to look at the account books and correct homework every day; you don’t go to bed until midnight."
He Tiantian’s eyes lit up; she was especially in need of an accountant.
"Mom, do you have someone in mind?" He Tiantian asked excitedly, "Can they be trusted? How capable are they?"
"Very capable! She’s our hospital’s accountant, a woman who has reached retirement age," Jiang Lifang said, "Although she has a pension, her husband is in poor health and her son’s income is not high. She doesn’t want to be a burden on her children, so she’s looking for work. As you know, in the hospital, if someone’s medical skills are good, they can be rehired; other departments rarely rehire retired staff. After all, there are many new graduates every year. When someone retires, it frees up a position, and many are vying for it!"
