Chapter 754: Chapter 723: Past, Anger_1

The train police and the female conductor could confirm from the child’s words that there was something wrong with the two people.

"Save them, save them." The little boy was scared, but seeing the police, he remembered what his parents had taught him, to turn to the police in times of trouble.

"What happened to them?" The female conductor also noticed that the child was not ordinary.

"After taking the medicine, they fell asleep," scratched his head, "and haven’t woken up..."

The little boy was young and could only express what he saw in the simplest terms.

With no doctor on the train, the train police and attendants immediately relayed the message to the train captain.

The captain, seeing that there were only ten minutes left before reaching the station, made an announcement in the carriage to inquire if there was a doctor on board.

As luck would have it, there were two doctors who determined that the children had consumed sleeping pills; without any medicine on hand to administer help, they could only wait to send them directly to the hospital upon arrival at the station.

The captain sent a telegram directly to Nan City’s train station, so when the train arrived, they immediately arranged for the children to be taken to the hospital.

Fortunately, the children’s breathing was still relatively stable, and all one could do was pray that the dosage wasn’t too high.

As soon as they got off the train, the children were sent to the hospital.

Huo Yingjie, as the whistleblower, would also follow to the police station to give a statement.

He Tiantian listened to everyone talking, with many condemning the detestable human traffickers.

"Ah, these damned human traffickers," Grandma Wang felt a deep hatred, which reminded her of past sorrows.

He Tiantian was startled and asked, "Grandma Wang, those people have been caught and got what they deserved."

"Ah, the poor children," Grandma Wang said, "But they are also lucky to have been rescued, while those who weren’t rescued can only be forever separated from their parents..."

"Yes, it’s really sad," He Tiantian said, "I truly wish there were no such conscienceless people in this world."

Grandma Wang took out a handkerchief to wipe her tears and said, "Ah, when I was a child, I was kidnapped and trafficked. I was so young I couldn’t remember my parents or my hometown. Fortunately, at that time, the Old Madam was still a young girl, and her family needed a servant, so they brought me, only five years old, back with them."

He Tiantian was quite shocked upon hearing Grandma Wang’s story, not knowing she had had such an experience.

But continuing this topic would only sadden Grandma Wang further at this time.

Gently, He Tiantian said, "Grandma Wang, from now on, you’ll be with us. Brother Yingjie and I will take care of you as if you are our own grandmother."

True to form, upon hearing this, Grandma Wang’s face brightened with a smile.

"You and Yingjie are good children and know gratitude," Grandma Wang said with a smile. "Back then, the Old Madam wanted me to acknowledge your grandfather as a godson, but I didn’t accept. After all, although I nursed your grandfather and raised him, I am just a woman without any accomplishments and couldn’t offer any help to your grandfather, so I refused."

No wonder Grandma Wang was so close to their second household; there was this connection as well.

"Regardless of whether you acknowledged it before, we recognize you as our grandma," He Tiantian said with a smile. "If Yingjie and I do anything wrong in the future, please tell us directly. You raised our grandfather and also raised Brother Yingjie, and now you will help us with our children. You are our elder, and we will take good care of you for the rest of your life."

"Good, you have my gratitude," Grandma Wang was very happy and did not dwell on the sad memories of the past.

The train arrived at the station, and He Tiantian gathered all the luggage, strapping a large package on her back, holding another in her hand, with the help of the security officers as well, as everyone helped with the items off the train.

Grandma Wang carried a parcel in her hand, stuffed with things like lunch boxes used on the train.

Afterward, He Tiantian and Grandma Wang, each leading a child, disembarked from the train.

Although the children were small, they could walk on their own, just a bit slowly. Fortunately, their seats were close to the train door, which made alighting easier.

Secretary Guo was already waiting by the train door, so He Tiantian saw him as soon as she got off the train.

"Where’s Yingjie?" Secretary Guo asked. He had received a telegram saying Huo Yingjie would be returning with them.

"Brother Yingjie has some matters to deal with, so he let us go home first," He Tiantian answered, asking Secretary Guo to help carry things.

"Do you need me to intervene?" Secretary Guo asked. Some matters didn’t require Huo Yingjie to intervene personally. As the mayor’s secretary, his involvement often made things more efficient.

He Tiantian shook her head, "No need, he told us to go ahead. I guess he’ll be home soon after we arrive."

"Alright then." Secretary Guo picked up Huo Ruihua from the ground and helped carry some items with his other hand.

Secretary Guo carried Huo Ruihua, and He Tiantian carried Huo Ruimin, each also taking some belongings, and together they left the train station and got into a car.

Once they arrived home, Secretary Guo left.

Jiang Lifang was at work, but the quilts at home had already been taken out to air and were clean. They stripped the two sleeping children of their outer clothes and tucked them into bed.

Seeing that it was already noon, He Tiantian started to sift through the kitchen supplies and began to prepare a meal.

Just as the food was ready, Huo Yingjie returned home.

"Were those two people child traffickers?" He Tiantian asked. Even if they weren’t traffickers, she guessed they were not up to any good.

Huo Yingjie nodded, "They were traffickers. The three boys were meant to be sold to those who couldn’t have sons, and the girl was just taken because she looked pretty and was an easy steal. They boarded the train from Tian City, so the children must have been lost there."

"That’s good," He Tiantian said indignantly, "These two aren’t first-timers; they must be repeat offenders. A thorough interrogation might lead us to more children. It’s disgusting; fully capable of honest work, yet they choose to commit such heinous acts!"

"Heh, where there are good people, there naturally are bad ones," Huo Yingjie said. "We can’t control everything, but when we encounter such situations, it’s our opportunity to help as much as we can."

"That’s true," He Tiantian nodded. "Do our best, and hopefully, the country will take the issue of child trafficking more seriously. Often, it’s the children that result in the destruction of a family. If I were a parent, I might feel like killing these people."

Just a feeling?

Huo Yingjie sneered coldly. Anybody who touched his son and daughter would face the annihilation of their entire family.

They talked about the day’s events while eating.

Grandma Wang, too, was furious as she spoke, "When your father comes back tonight, I must speak to him to handle this strictly. A mother and child torn apart is nothing less than a tragedy."

"Yeah, we should talk about it. Economic development is important, but good public security is what ensures everyone’s safety," He Tiantian said. She loved Nan City and hoped it would become the best city.

Here, there was joy, happiness, and safety.

After the meal, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie cleaned up the luggage they brought back while chatting.

As for the two children, once they woke up and had their meal, they played in the yard.
