The Sweetness of the Seventies
Chapter 595 - 564_1

Chapter 595: Chapter 564_1

He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie were walking on the road, the setting sun stretched their shadows long.

"Brother Yingjie, how wonderful it would be if we could always be like this!" He Tiantian tilted her head, "Walking together until the end of time!"

"Alright, I’ll try my best!" Huo Yingjie said, knowing that a human’s life is brief, and it’s very difficult to achieve eternity, but he would strive for it.

He Tiantian turned around, walking backward to face Huo Yingjie, squinting because of the sun, and asked, "Brother Yingjie, the Dragon Heads-raising Festival is in three days, on the second day of the second month. Last time, the Snake King said he would undergo his tribulation on this day. We promised to help him, what preparations do you need to make?"

Huo Yingjie, with his hands casually clasped behind his back and leaning slightly forward, smiled at He Tiantian and said, "I don’t need to prepare anything!"

"I’ve seen the Snake King go through tribulation twice, and it’s really cruel, each time escaping death by a hair’s breadth." He Tiantian said, "Since we’ve promised the Snake King, we must take it seriously and not treat it lightly. He is my benefactor, and as your wife, he is also yours. Brother Yingjie, you must help the Snake King with all your might, okay?"

Before getting married, Huo Yingjie often felt insecure, and any unrelated man around He Tiantian was an eyesore to him.

Now that they were married, he felt He Tiantian’s love both spiritually and physically, and the insecure feelings diminished, so now he could face the mention of the Snake King with composure.

"Alright, I will help him with all my might, to make him the king of that world." Huo Yingjie assured, having clarified many things after getting married.

Like the Snake King, even though this little spirit snake had special thoughts for He Tiantian, he lacked the power to do anything and was no match for him.

What’s more important is that He Tiantian only considered him a friend, with not a hint of romantic interest.

In that case, why should he be so petty and lose his grace?

"Brother Yingjie, you’re so kind." He Tiantian smiled coquettishly, then in a soft, sticky voice, "Lord Yingjie’s kindness, this young lady has nothing to repay with but her own person, may I?"

Huo Yingjie pinched He Tiantian’s chin and kissed her lips, saying, "Yes!"

"(*^__^*) Hehe..." He Tiantian giggled.

Then dodging Huo Yingjie’s hand, He Tiantian turned and quickly ran ahead.

Huo Yingjie looked at He Tiantian’s slender back with indulgence, shaking his head and laughing to himself; such a woman, he just couldn’t get enough!

When they returned home, He Tiantian prepared confinement meals for her mother, making hand-rolled noodles without salt, adding some greens, with two eggs.

Except when breastfeeding, He Jingyu happily held his son all day long.

At mealtime, He Tiantian took over, while He Jingyu was still worried that his daughter wouldn’t know how to take care of the baby.

Wang Shuping smiled and said, "Tiantian, don’t hold him all the time. If a child gets used to being held, they’ll always want to be in someone’s arms. When we’re not busy, someone can hold him, but who will have the time when we’re busy? Put him beside me and let him sleep on his own."

"I’ve heard people say that children’s bones are soft and that they sleep better on their own," He Tiantian said with a smile, placing her brother beside their mother.

"Yes, it’s not good for them to be held all the time," Wang Shuping scolded. "It’s all because of your dad, spoiling you and your brother by holding you often. When he doesn’t have time to hold you anymore, you’ll just cry non-stop."

"Haha, Mom, was I really that hard to take care of when I was little?" He Tiantian asked. It’s only when you become a parent that you truly understand how hard it is to raise a child.

Wang Shuping nodded and said, "Yes, you were sickly as a child. Your father and I took turns holding you all night long. If we put you down on the bed, you would cry. Your crying would tear at our hearts as if cut with a knife."

"It was hard on you, Dad and Mom," He Tiantian said gratefully. No matter how much one does for their parents, it can never fully repay their kindness.

"That’s just what it’s like to be a parent," Wang Shuping said with a smile. "By the time you were three, and Yingjie was six, we both had to work, and it was Yingjie who took care of you. When Yingjie started school, you insisted on following him, but the school wouldn’t allow it, and you cried for a long time. Then, when you were five, you started first grade, always following Yingjie like a little tail. Yingjie has been protective of you since you were young, and we’ve always seen that. When Huo Yingjie had that serious accident last time, your father and I kept our calm. As long as there was a chance Huo Yingjie could recover, we wouldn’t regret the marriage. Because the two of you have been so close since you were children."

"I understand how you and Dad feel; all parents want the best for their children. Heaven favors good people, and Brother Yingjie has regained his health," He Tiantian said, feeling thankful for her parents’ support and understanding.

"As long as you understand, that’s good," Wang Shuping said. "Sometimes your dad speaks too bluntly, but he’s the person who loves you most in this world."

"I know. I’ve never resented Dad. I can’t thank him enough!" He Tiantian said seriously. She never thought of resenting her parents, only gratitude.

"That’s good to hear," Wang Shuping said. "By the way, how long can you stay this time?"

Wang Shuping hoped her daughter could stay until she finished her postpartum confinement.

"Mom, you’ve forgotten. I’m still considered ’sent-down youth’ here; where else would I go?" He Tiantian laughed. "Besides, Yingjie said that I should come here to review my studies and recover my health properly. And there’s also... and also..."

"And also to have a baby soon!" Wang Shuping said, covering her mouth with a laugh. "Your mother-in-law wanted another child badly. She’s just like me; we both suffered injuries and can’t have more babies. Now that I’ve had one and she hasn’t, she’s pinning all her hopes on you."

He Tiantian’s face turned red, and she said, "Mom... I have something to do. I’ll go out first."

"It’s really true. While Yingjie isn’t working and you have time, take more baths. Who knows..." Wang Shuping said with a smile, hoping her daughter could get pregnant soon. That way, once she was out of confinement, she could take care of her daughter.

Seeing her daughter leave, Wang Shuping was in high spirits.

When He Jingyu came in, he saw his wife’s beaming smile and asked, "What’s got you so happy?"

"Nothing much, just talking with Tiantian about her childhood," Wang Shuping said with a laugh. It wouldn’t be appropriate to talk to her husband about their daughter and son-in-law’s bedroom affairs.

He Jingyu came in and wanted to hold the baby again.

"Smack!" Wang Shuping slapped He Jingyu’s hand. "If the baby isn’t crying, let him sleep in the bed. If he gets used to being held, he’ll need to be held all the time!"

He Jingyu withdrew his hand and chuckled, "You’re right; we can’t spoil the little guy. Tiantian is our daughter and she was frail as a child, so we doted on her. But this boy, we can’t spoil him."

"All right, ’richly raise a daughter, frugally raise a son,’ we’ll do as you say," Wang Shuping said with a laugh, as they were in agreement on this point.
