Chapter 529: Chapter 529: The Powerful Cannibal Tribe_1

Zhang Xian looked at the somewhat resentful Yao Rao and agonized for a moment. It seemed like this woman was hell-bent on marrying him?

"Don’t worry, Little Xian Xian," she told him.

Yao Rao looked at Zhang Xian and laughed, "I’ll take care of the beauties for you. I don’t care if they are goddesses, I just want to know why I can’t have you?"

Zhang Xian looked at Yao Rao, "What are you planning?"

"Oh, relax," Yao Rao smirked, "Don’t worry, I won’t hurt them."

Zhang Xian lowered his gaze, a bitter smile on his face.

Yao Rao got close to Zhang Xian and asked, "So, what exactly are you searching for? Do you want me to help you? This Tatamu Mountain Range can be quite dangerous!"

"No need," Zhang Xian limitedly replied, "I just came to find some herbs."

Yao Rao questioned, "I find it hard to believe you can navigate so freely through the Tatamu Mountain Range. The idea that you are stronger than me, must’ve been a bluff."

Zhang Xian looked at Yao Rao, his face turning dark.

"So, stick with me!" Yao Rao clung to Zhang Xian’s arm, proclaiming, "From now on, your sister here will protect you!"

Zhang Xian pulled his arm free a couple of times but Yao Rao’s grip was firm. He coldly replied with an involuntary twitch at the corner of his mouth, "I don’t like being protected by women nor do I like to follow others around. And I was not bluffing before. With your current strength, you’re not a match for me."

Yao Rao said, "Alright! I believe you, happy now?"

"You clearly do not believe me..." Zhang Xian grew despondent.

"I do, really." Yao Rao nodded.

Regardless, her thoughts had been guessed correctly by Zhang Xian. The fact that she had been able to attain this innate realm had been a fluke, and there was no way a 20-something Zhang Xian could be a match for her, right?

Old Man Gui’s prowess was indeed intimidating, bred a successor who was also indomitably skilled. But regardless of how strong a person was, there indeed existed a limit, wasn’t it?

Zhang Xian stared at the half-smiling Yao Rao and his face grew even darker.

"Ok, stop sulking." Yao Rao cheerfully proposed, "Tonight’s moonlight is so beautiful. Why don’t we sit in its glow and do something beautiful ourselves?"

Zhang Xian turned his head, looking surprised. Those words sounded incredibly familiar—hadn’t he said that to someone before?

"Come on!" Yao Rao exclaimed, and moved in closer, kissing Zhang Xian.

Zhang Xian stood frozen, then quickly pushed Yao Rao away. "You know, beautiful, we can’t do this. Please don’t force me into this. You can’t force me if I don’t want to do it."

"You just took my first kiss." Yao Rao blinked and told him.

Zhang Xian grumbled, "You were the one who moved in first; it has nothing to do with me. As it seems, I’m the victim here."

Yao Rao replied, "But you took my first kiss, that’s a fact. So, you might as well take my virginity now! I’ve been waiting for you for ten years. That’s a long time!"

After a long look at Yao Rao, Zhang Xian hastily averted his gaze, fear binding him from being overpowered by his hormones.

"Come now!" Yao Rao urged again.

Zhang Xian gritted his teeth, and suddenly spun around, rushing off in another direction at full speed.

"Hey, where are you going?" Yao Rao called out after him.

Without turning his head, Zhang Xian replied, "I suddenly remember an urgent matter. I’ll leave first."

"Am I truly old? How come I didn’t feel it?" With Zhang Xian fleeing, Yao Rao barely prevented her heart from leaping out of her chest and shattering on the ground.

This is clearly a sign of disgust! How could that guy treat her like this?

...

In the early morning, the gentle glow of the sunrise permeated through the cloud layer, illuminating the earth.

In a forest within the Tatamu Mountain Range, Zhang Xian was racing in a certain direction.

Suddenly, he came to a halt.

A few moments later, he broke into a smile when he found a small, milky white flower underneath a stone. The flower was aesthetically pleasing.

"I didn’t expect to find a White Fairy here," Zhang Xian exclaimed as he picked the flower and stored it in his storage ring before setting off again.

The White Fairy wasn’t an unusually precious herb, but it was very conducive for the initial stage of cultivation, especially for helping with the first three levels of the Body Refinement Technique. And if used appropriately, it could help one transcend a level with no issues.

Among the five women, Mo Shaoyun had the best talent, even if this White Fairy was divided equally amongst the five, it would still aid in her transcending a level.

"Huh? There are people ahead?"

A little while later, a few presences made their way into Zhang Xian’s detection range.

As he got closer and accurately grasped the strength of the people, a suggestive smile fleeted across his lips. The group ahead was strong and had two innate-level experts.

This reminded him of the curly-haired man and his group in the Dragon Mountain Range. With two innate-level experts, they too were searching for herbs. Could these possibly be members of the voice of God too? Since those people needed herbs, they wouldn’t just focus on the Dragon Mountain Range, the other two dangerous zones also had abundant resources.

"Better get going!" Zhang Xian had no intentions of approaching.

After scanning the surroundings once, he sprinted off in another direction.

It had been a while since he had been out, and it would take a considerable amount of time to return given the distance. He didn’t have the time to create additional problems.

The other group had two innate-level experts and many at the post-acquired-level. He wasn’t sure of coming out on top if he launched a solo attack.

...

Somewhere in the forest of the Tatamu Mountain Range.

Elder Sister Yao Rao took the lead, her face grim and her sharp eyes continuously scanning her surroundings, as if ready to pierce through the entire forest.

The bat, Little Tiger, and Black Cat followed behind her, not daring to breathe heavily.

It seemed that Yao Rao’s temper had become alarmingly volatile after they returned last night. The slightest frown could set her off.

They did not know what had transpired between Yao Rao and the young fellow the previous night, but they knew very well it was best to behave under such circumstances.

"Ah..." Liya was a little sulky.

None of the four, Yao Rao, the bat, Black Cat, or Little Tiger, spoke. She was confused about what to say; the atmosphere felt eerily quiet.

"Where has Little Xian Xian gone?"

Despite the relentless scrutiny of the forest, Yao Rao found no sign of the one she was hoping to see.

...

At noon, the sun was scorching. The sweltering heat was trapped by the forest leaves and could not be dissipated, making the environment suffocating.

On a small hill, a figure suddenly jumped out, standing on a rock and looking anxiously at the sight before him.

The newcomer was Zhang Xian, who had been wandering in the Tatamu Mountain Range for several days.

He was standing on a small hill, looking down at an artificial valley below. It seemed as if the center of a giant stone had been dug out, then several caves had been carved out for living.

In the valley, many people were busily disassembling enormous beasts and roasting them on massive racks.

"Is this the rumored cannibal tribe? There are actually four innate realm masters in it."

After scanning with his senses, Zhang Xian was surprised to find that all of these tribespeople who seemed to be living primitively possessed cultivation techniques. Their bodies were robust, and they specialized in Body Cultivation.

Among them, there were even four who had achieved the Innate Realm using their own bodies, exuding a terrifying aura of power.

He had heard about the cannibal tribe before but didn’t know much about it. He had been curious about how the cannibal tribe managed to survive in the Tatamu Mountain Range where magical beasts ran rampant.

Now it appeared that the environment indeed could change a race’s traditions. Under the threat of formidable magical beasts, the cannibal tribe went against the tide, ultimately mastering the art of Body Cultivation.

"Huh? There is a Heartless Fruit Tree here."

As Zhang Xian extended his detection deeper into the tribe, he discovered a Heartless Fruit tree with seven small green fruits hanging from it.

"Damn, I have found the Heartless Fruit, but I cannot retrieve it." Returning his senses, Zhang Xian was lost in deep thought.

The cannibal tribe had nearly a hundred members, including four at the Innate Realm and twenty-one at the Post Acquired Peak, with even more at the Post Acquired Realm. Defending such a potent power base, even a Grandmaster Realm practitioner couldn’t hope to fare well, let alone Zhang Xian, who lacked the power of the Grandmaster Realm. He could see the Heartless Fruit, but he could not obtain it.

"Do these guys ever leave?" murmured Zhang Xian.

If half of them left the valley for whatever reason, he could steal the Heartless Fruit. The Innate Realm practitioners wouldn’t be able to keep up with him, the only fear was he could be trapped.

The Heartless Fruit tree was located near the center of the tribe, surrounded by the tribespeople.

All he could do now was wait!

Having made up his mind, he jumped off the large rock, sat cross-legged, and waited quietly.

A day passed.

Two days passed.

By the third day, Zhang Xian could not wait anymore.

In these three days, there was no sign that the cannibal tribe would venture out collectively. A few of them had occasionally gone hunting for beasts. The four innate masters didn’t move an inch from the tribe.

If he continued waiting like this, the days would waste away.

"Do I have to give up on the Heartless Fruit?" Zhang Xian considered retreating.

But the thought of Luo Shuining made him hesitate. It would be a pity to give up just like that, now since he had found the fruit.

"I will leave for now." After hesitating for a bit, Zhang Xian decided not to obsess over the Heartless Fruit and turned to leave.

Seeing as tribe’s people did not venture out, and he was alone, he had no means to intrude. If he had some help to distract the cannibal tribe, he might have had a glimmer of hope.

"Hmm? Someone is approaching."

He hadn’t moved far when he felt a formidable presence rushing towards him.

As the aura drew closer, his facial expression suddenly became interested. The newcomer was the gray-robed elder he had encountered twice in the Dragon Mountain Range.

Damn it, this guy had come to the Tatamu Mountain Range. Fate truly seemed to bind him to this old guy!

The gray-robed elder seemed unaware that he was being watched. He sped straight towards the cannibal tribe with an arrogant and despotic air, as if considering the Tatamu Mountain Range his backyard.

However, he returned soon, his face filled with terror. Obviously, he, too, found the cannibal tribe a formidable adversary.

Zhang Xian couldn’t help but smile gleefully at the sight.

All of a sudden, he was prepared to pull another fast one on the old man. Such a good opportunity to deceive, why not? The gray-robed elder seemed contemplative, likely he was also eyeing the Heartless Fruit.
