Chapter 586: Chapter 604: Hold On
"Brother-in-law, you’re so gross, drooling in your sleep." Grace Lopez grinned, looking disgusted, then quickly ran to the bedroom, grabbed some clothes, and headed to the bathroom.
John Brown hadn’t noticed what was on Grace Lopez’s pants. Being told this by Grace, he was a bit puzzled and asked Gina Lopez, "Do I drool in my sleep?"
Gina saw the wet mark on Grace’s pants and first thought of all sorts of messy things. But after Grace said it and ran off, and then John Brown’s response, she felt relieved. She blushed and playfully scolded John, "You’re something else, how could you end up sleeping with your head on Sandra’s lap?"
John Brown laughed awkwardly and said, "I was a bit groggy at the time. Sandra might have noticed I was uncomfortable and put my leg on hers. I didn’t even realize." Although it was shameless to blame Grace, explaining it herself would be easier. Plus, Gina would be more inclined to believe Grace’s words than his, so he had to throw Grace under the bus.
Gina gave John a side-eye and said, "Even so, have some dignity! You drooled and wet Sandra’s pants. Now Sandra is going to laugh at you for the rest of her life, isn’t she?"
Just as Gina finished speaking, Sandra, having changed into a new pair of pajamas, came out, playfully scratched her face, and said, "Brother-in-law, you’re really shy, drooling in your sleep."
John Brown gave a dry laugh and said, "Sorry, I’ll definitely pay attention in the future."
"Hehe, did you dream about something good?" Sandra winked at John.
John immediately laughed and said, "I slept soundly, didn’t dream at all."
Gina quickly interjected, "Alright, stop teasing your brother-in-law. Can’t you see how injured he is, yet you’re still making fun of him?"
Sandra stuck out her tongue and said, "Got it. Brother-in-law, is there anything you want to eat? I’ll make it for you."
This matter was brushed off, and John Brown was truly enjoying the pampering from Gina and Sandra. After a while, Gina went to pick up Little Violet, leaving John at home with Sandra.
"Sandra, did I really drool? I don’t think I have that habit." John was still a bit perplexed by the earlier incident and couldn’t help but ask.
Sandra blushed but said, "You did drool."
"No way, right?" John still didn’t believe it.
Sandra gave John a side-eye and suddenly leaned closer, whispering in his ear, "Naughty brother-in-law, your mouth was on me, and I ended up getting wet myself. Are you satisfied now?"
"Huh?" John was shocked, eyes wide open, not knowing how to respond.
"Hehe... I’m not little anymore, right? My sister married you, and I’m still single. A little reaction is normal, isn’t it?" Even though Sandra’s face was red enough to drip blood, she still winked at John.
John gave a dry laugh, "This... this... Sandra..."
"Don’t ’this’ and ’that’. I didn’t blame you, but it was quite comfortable. Brother-in-law, rest on my lap a bit longer."
"No, no!" John was startled and quickly refused.
Sandra suddenly giggled, then unexpectedly gave John a kiss on the cheek and said, "Don’t worry, I won’t seduce you like that."
John gave a wry smile. How is this not considered seduction? If this isn’t, actual seduction would be unbearable.
At this moment, Sandra suddenly exclaimed, leaning in toward John’s face again. John quickly said, "Sandra, stop messing around."
"No, brother-in-law, you seem a bit warm." Sandra pressed her lips against John’s face again, then moved to his forehead, her expression turning tense and she said urgently, "Brother-in-law, you have a fever."
John asked doubtfully, "Really?"
"Yes, brother-in-law, you really have a fever. Didn’t you feel my lips were cold?" Sandra’s face now showed panic.
John Brown really felt that Grace Lopez’s lips were somewhat cold, and was shocked, as someone with his constitution rarely falls ill, but if he does, it often hits hard. At this moment, he couldn’t afford to be careless, and said, "Let’s find a thermometer, I’ll measure it."
Grace Lopez immediately ran to find a thermometer. After measuring John Brown’s temperature, she panicked and said, "Brother-in-law, it’s thirty-eight degrees; you really have a fever."
At this moment, John Brown didn’t need Grace Lopez to tell him; he was already completely certain he had a fever because his body was burning, and his head felt a bit dizzy. This situation couldn’t possibly be caused by a cold but was likely due to an injury that wasn’t timely treated for inflammation, or worse, tetanus.
Inflammation is manageable, but if it’s tetanus, it’s a serious matter as it can be life-threatening. John Brown immediately said, "Sandra, let’s go to the hospital now, a couple of injections should solve the problem." He didn’t voice his guess to avoid scaring Grace Lopez.
Grace Lopez immediately jumped up and said urgently, "We’ll go now."
"But you need to change your clothes too, I don’t want my sister-in-law dressed like this for others to see." John Brown cracked a joke to alleviate Grace Lopez’s tense mood.
Grace Lopez let out a sound and quickly dashed into the bedroom, not even bothering to close the door, quickly changing her clothes in a few motions.
From John Brown’s position, he could see Grace Lopez changing clothes, but at this time, his mind was somewhat confused, his eyes barely open, and he didn’t have the energy to sneak a peek at Grace Lopez.
Grace Lopez soon rushed out and found that in just a short while, John Brown’s body became hotter and seemed a bit faint, scaring her even more. However, this triggered her survival instincts, and without saying a word, she lifted John Brown up.
John Brown struggled to stand, eyes closed and said, "Sandra, don’t be afraid, brother-in-law is fine."
"Brother-in-law, I will carry you," she said and, without waiting for refusal, lifted John Brown. Somehow she had the strength, and before John Brown could object, she was already carrying him.
Grace Lopez didn’t even have time to change shoes and rushed out wearing slippers with John Brown on her back. Fortunately, the elevator was just two floors up, and she quickly got in, still carrying John Brown, and said urgently, "Brother-in-law, don’t sleep, I’m afraid it’s tetanus, you have to hold on."
This girl surprisingly knew something about this, and though anxious, she was aware of some handling techniques, namely not letting John Brown completely lose consciousness. Human willpower is strong, capable of holding out until they reach the hospital; once treated, the situation isn’t too serious.
John Brown naturally understood this too, and his willpower was unsurpassed, softly saying, "I know, Sandra, don’t be afraid, brother-in-law can hold on."
"Yes, brother-in-law, you have to hold on, my sister loves you so much, and I love you so much too. If you really died, we couldn’t live without you, and there’s Little Violet, she’s your daughter; if you weren’t here, who would take care of her? She can’t lose her father."
"Brother-in-law! You have to be strong; once you’re better, whatever you want to do with me, I’ll let you, and later my sister and I will serve you, and we’ll play as twins, since we’re twins, it’ll definitely be exciting and make your soul soar."
John Brown knew that Grace Lopez was trying to stimulate him. Although dizzy, he still chuckled lightly and said, "Haha, silly girl, you don’t need to say this, brother-in-law doesn’t need such methods to stimulate survival instincts."
Grace Lopez hurriedly said, "Brother-in-law, I’m being serious; I really love you, love to the bone, and I want to cling to you my whole life; if you abandon my sister and me, I’ll chase you to hell to continue clinging to you."
John Brown at this time could completely feel Grace Lopez’s intense deep affection, and lying on her, he suddenly felt indescribably moved, softly saying, "Sandra, I believe you."
"Then live, you have to live."
"Hmm, this little issue can’t kill me."
Grace Lopez carried John Brown to the car, then drove at high speed to the hospital, not knowing how many red lights she broke or how many times she nearly got into accidents; but she was oblivious to it all at this moment.
Upon reaching the hospital, Grace Lopez directly carried John Brown to the emergency room, where there happened to be quite a few people waiting. Grace Lopez’s eyes were already red, disregarding any notion of queuing, loudly shouting, "Doctor, doctor, save him, my brother-in-law might have tetanus."
Those patients and their families saw a beautiful girl carrying a big man as she rushed like a madwoman, instinctively making way, secretly impressed; John Brown’s physique was evidently not light, yet a girl could carry him so swiftly, requiring great strength indeed.
It’s not about strength, but rather a surge of adrenaline brought by tension; it seems she’s a sister-in-law, yet treating her brother-in-law this well, this man is indeed fortunate.
The doctor didn’t say much; although everyone was in the emergency room, those who could queue evidently weren’t in life-threatening situations, whereas tetanus was indeed life-threatening. Seeing John Brown’s urgency, he promptly administered treatment. John Brown indeed had tetanus, but as he was sent in time, it wouldn’t be life-threatening. After receiving the tetanus shots, he was sent to the ward.
At this point, Grace Lopez suddenly felt extremely exhausted, collapsing onto a chair as if all her strength had left her body.
