Chapter 454: Chapter 461 Hawk Squad Dispatched

Nanhua City is just over two hundred kilometers away from the Capital of SSUP. Although this city is not particularly large, its proximity to the Capital of SSUP makes it remarkably prosperous.

Even at night, Nanhua City remains bustling, only gradually becoming quieter as it approaches midnight.

Inside a three-story building near the busy urban district, the premises are currently shrouded in darkness. It serves as the office of a company. Such companies are common in Nanhua City, and no one pays them much attention.

However, tonight, this company seems poised to leave its ordinary status behind.

Two shadows moved like agile cats, darting above and below as they approached the building, crouching beneath a window. One of them gestured, while the other pulled out an unknown tool, carving a small circle on the glass. Then, they pressed another tool against the glass and suctioned out a small round piece of it.

One hand reached inside, deftly unlocking the window latch and opening it. The entire operation was as fluid as running water—utterly seamless, without a trace of hesitation or even the slightest sound.

With the window now open, the two figures didn’t immediately move. Instead, they paused to listen carefully before slipping into the room one by one. They landed silently without making a sound.

Cautiously, the two individuals moved a few steps forward. One of them pointed towards an overhead position, and the other nodded. It appeared to be just a regular ceiling panel, but to these two, it concealed a hidden camera. The camera was so well-hidden that ordinary people wouldn’t notice it. However, they had already spotted it before arriving at the location. This camera monitored the hallway below, and walking past it would inevitably bring them into its field of view.

"Bang!" A dull noise suddenly resounded outside. The two silently counted to three before darting forward, likely leaving nothing but residual shadows in the camera feed.

In a security room located on the first floor, two individuals were present. They were casually chatting while watching the monitors.

Security personnel in such companies typically treated monitors with indifference, as their primary purpose was more about recording rather than active surveillance. If something suspicious occurred, they could always check the footage later. Generally, a casual glance now and then sufficed.

Compared to regular security guards, these two were noticeably more focused. While one occasionally turned away, the other maintained unwavering attention on the screens, ensuring no detail escaped them.

From this, it was apparent that these two were not ordinary security guards. They displayed marked professionalism and seriousness. Their demeanor suggested that the people in this building, as well as the building itself, were far from ordinary.

"Bang!" A monitor suddenly erupted in flames, jolting the two guards into alertness. They narrowed their focus on the screen. It appeared to be a short-circuited power outlet in a corner of the yard, plunging the area into darkness.

Both guards shifted their attention entirely to this monitor and failed to notice the two fleeting shadows passing across another screen.

"What’s going on? Why is there sudden fire? Could it be something serious?" one of the guards muttered with a furrowed brow.

"What could possibly happen? We’ve been here so long without incident. It’s just a minor mishap. Let’s call an electrician tomorrow to sort it out," replied the other.

"We still can’t let our guard down. You know how strict the organization is. If our neglect leads to an issue, we would certainly face the harshest punishments," the first guard said.

"Haha... Punishments? Of course, I don’t want that. But think about it—how long have we been lurking here without raising suspicion? Moreover, in SSUP Country, we’ve always operated so discreetly that no one would dare target us," the second guard retorted smugly.

As the two chatted, a faint noise came from the door outside. "Squeak... Squeak..."

"Damn it! Stupid rat sneaked in here," one guard cursed irritably.

"How did the rat get in?" asked the other.

"Who knows? Rats can get anywhere. They’re the most annoying creatures. Oh, I need to put my sausages away; better not let those damn rats steal them," the irritated guard grumbled.

He walked toward the door of the security room while talking and casually opened it.

Suddenly, a black figure materialized in front of him. Before he could react, a heavy blow struck his neck, robbing him of consciousness. Even though he was already unconscious, his body remained upright, supported by the shadow that appeared before him.

"Hey, what are you doing standing there?" the other guard questioned.

Receiving no response, the second guard instinctively stood up. However, before he could approach his comrade, a dagger flashed and was hurled toward him.

The guard turned out to be quite skilled. Even amidst the sudden attack, he managed to react partially, evading a fatal hit. Nonetheless, the dagger was too fast, and he couldn’t fully dodge it.

"Ah!" he screamed in agony, stumbling backward. His hands frantically slammed down on a button on the desk in an act of desperation.

"Damn it!" One of the black-clad figures cursed. At the same time, another shadow emerged behind the guard, swiftly drawing the dagger across his throat. Even so, they couldn’t prevent the alarm from being triggered.

"I say, Number Twenty-Nine, your skills are pathetic," a voice sneered.

"Stop talking nonsense. You aren’t any better than I am. Now that we’ve transitioned from stealth to brute force, doesn’t it feel more thrilling?"

The two intruders were none other than Mark Smith and David Bailey, both members of the Hawk Squad. As trained operatives under James Brown, they were taught to avoid mistakes at all costs. Yet, they hadn’t expected this location to house such skilled individuals, leading to a minor oversight.

Had this been a high-stakes operation, such mistakes would have warranted immediate retreat to avoid being overwhelmed. However, they had a clear understanding of the situation here. The number of terrorist personnel likely didn’t exceed twenty. Given the combat prowess of their five-member team, eliminating twenty individuals wouldn’t pose a significant challenge.

James Brown was positioned outside, receiving David Bailey’s signal. He glanced at Martin Miller, who frowned instinctively. Encountering problems so early into the operation made Martin feel his leadership wasn’t up to par as a commander of Hawk Squad under such scrutiny.

"Damn it! Those two fools were so careless. They’ll need extra training later," Martin muttered. However, he didn’t let embarrassment cloud his thoughts. Despite his persistent efforts, he was still far from matching James Brown’s caliber—a clear disparity he acknowledged as his goal for continuous improvement. And with James observing him directly for the first time, Martin saw it as an opportunity for invaluable guidance.

"Rush to the third floor and capture their key figure immediately," Martin ordered with urgency.

Mark and David responded swiftly, heading upstairs. Yet, at the second-floor stairwell, they encountered resistance.

Four men awaited them—two SSUP People and two others who appeared to be from V Country or I Region, judging by their darker complexion, slender build, and pronounced cheekbones.

These four individuals swiftly descended from the third floor, their movements agile and formidable. Evidently, they were skilled fighters. Without a word, they charged forward to confront Mark and David.

Though Mark and David were slightly inferior to James Brown in martial arts, they were still elite operatives of the Hawk Squad. These four adversaries, while decent, were far from a match for them. Even in a two-versus-four scenario, they swiftly dispatched three, leaving one gravely injured.

Without delay, the two continued upstairs. Their goal was not mere slaughter but the acquisition of vital data to obliterate the roots of the terrorist organization in SSUP Country completely.

Upon reaching the upper level, resistance was unexpectedly weak, allowing them to seize control easily.

Martin Miller and James Brown entered the villa shortly afterward. Surveying the scene, Martin frowned and remarked, "It seems they were prepared. Their key figures have already fled."

James nodded. "Joseph truly is a cunning individual. He anticipated that I would locate this division and secured an early retreat." He then turned to Martin with a smile.

Under James’s gaze, Martin’s expression abruptly shifted. He urgently said, "We need to retreat."

The team immediately leapt down from the third floor and sprinted toward the exit. Before they reached the door, a deafening explosion erupted behind them, followed by the powerful shockwave of the blast. The three-story building had been rigged with high-grade explosives and was reduced to rubble in moments.

Thanks to their swift reactions, the operatives emerged covered in dust but unharmed. Even so, their frustration was palpable. Their operation against a terrorist division had turned embarrassingly chaotic, leaving them deeply dissatisfied.
