Chapter 382 - 389: Alliance
Chapter 382: Chapter 389: Alliance
James Brown didn’t intend to kill John Smith, but for scum like him, letting him off without a proper beating wouldn’t satisfy his anger. That’s why he choked him halfway to death before finally letting go.
As soon as James released his grip, John Smith collapsed to the ground, gasping desperately for fresh air through his wide-open mouth. Never in his life had he realized just how important breathing was to him. At this moment, he suddenly felt how wonderful it was to be able to draw in fresh air.
The room was a suite, with a living area outside and a bedroom inside. At that moment, a sound came from the bedroom—it was the kind of sound a woman makes when overcome with passion, and it was coming from Jennifer Hog.
James didn’t need to look to know that Jennifer was definitely drugged by John Smith with a hallucinogen. His disdain for John only grew stronger. He delivered a merciless kick to him and said, "Alice, go check it out."
Alice Brown agreed immediately and rushed into the inner room. At this moment, whatever James said, she followed without question.
"Mr. Brown, big brother, please... don’t kill me!" John was finally able to breathe properly. Seeing James’s icy face, his fear grew deeper. Just moments ago, he had skirted death. In his eyes, James was nothing less than a murderous demon.
James lit a cigarette, his gaze coldly fixed on Robert Smith. "Give me a reason to let you live."
"I-I’ll give you money, lots of money! One million... no, five million! I’ll give you ten million! Please, I beg you to spare me!" John crawled forward a couple of steps. In his mind, money was everything, the ultimate solution. Offering ten million dollars, he thought James wouldn’t possibly refuse.
"Hah! Do you think I’m in need of money?"
John’s face instantly darkened. If James didn’t need money, then this would be much harder to solve. Panicking, he said, "Big brother, whatever you say, I’ll do it!"
"Is that so...?"
"Yes, yes!" John nodded repeatedly, terrified that James wouldn’t believe him. He raised his hand and swore, "I, John Smith, swear every single word I say is true. If I don’t follow through, may heaven strike me down with lightning!"
James scoffed. "I never believe in the words of those who swear casually."
"Then... big brother, what should I do for you?"
James sized up John for a moment, then suddenly delivered a sharp kick to his stomach. "Get lost."
John felt a sharp pain in his stomach, but he didn’t care. Compared to his life, this pain was nothing. Trembling, he asked, "Big brother, are you really letting me go?"
"If you don’t leave now, I might change my mind."
John moved faster than a rabbit, springing to his feet and darting out of the room in the blink of an eye.
James was hardly so merciful. Though he had entanglements with multiple women himself, he always adhered to the principle of consent. He despised coercion, especially when it came to women. Earlier, James had already put a dark trick in motion on John, though John hadn’t realized it yet. Soon, he would feel its effects.
James walked into the suite, pausing briefly as he caught sight of Jennifer. Her body was partially exposed, her skin glowing a vivid red—a clear effect of the hallucinogen.
What heated James’s gaze even more was seeing Jennifer tightly hugging Alice, her movements utterly shocking.
Alice was visibly distressed. She’d been tackled by Jennifer as soon as she entered the room but didn’t dare call out for James, worried about John seeing them in such a position. Hastily, she said, "Mr. Smith, help me! Jennifer’s strength is too much!"
James quickly went over and pulled Jennifer off Alice, finally allowing her to break free. But then Jennifer immediately clung to James.
With a quick motion, James struck Jennifer’s neck, causing her to let out a muffled groan before collapsing softly onto the bed. James turned around and walked out, saying, "Put some clothes on her."
Alice hurriedly helped Jennifer get dressed. Fortunately, although Jennifer had been out of sorts, she hadn’t torn her own clothes.
"Mr. Smith, I’ve dressed Jennifer."
James responded with a nod and then entered the suite again. He picked Jennifer up and left the room with both women.
The three thugs led by Mark Davis were nowhere to be seen at the door. Though they hadn’t fainted earlier, they weren’t foolish. Seeing how James defeated all three of them in mere seconds, they knew he was far beyond their ability to contend with. The second he entered, they slipped away.
James directly took the women back to their home. He’d been there before, when the two had almost tempted him into a threesome. But a timely phone call had interrupted that.
This time, however, James had no such thoughts. He was now a married man. While he could indulge in past romances, he could no longer stir trouble so casually.
James placed Jennifer on the bed and said, "Run some hot water and have her take a bath. It’ll help her sweat out the drug. She’ll be better afterward."
Alice, being worldly-wise, quickly added, "Mr. Smith, Jennifer’s been drugged with the hallucinogen. Leaving her like that—won’t it cause problems?"
James confidently replied, "Don’t believe those novels claiming hallucinogen victims must engage in sexual acts. The drug just heightens emotions. During its effect, it overwhelms self-control, but given time, the effects will gradually fade. Even without... that, nothing terrible will happen. Having a man nearby would actually make things worse for her self-control."
"Oh, but you knocked Jennifer unconscious. How am I supposed to get her to the bathroom?"
James had honestly forgotten about that. He picked Jennifer up again and carried her to the bathroom. Though Alice’s home wasn’t large, the bathroom had a bathtub, perfectly suited to help Jennifer sweat out the drug.
Alice had initially planned to ask James for help in undressing Jennifer, but by this time, he had already left. She had no choice but to do it herself. Though a bit difficult, she managed on her own.
After some effort, Jennifer regained consciousness. Combined with the hot bath, she wasn’t as impulsive as before.
"Alice, how did I get home?" Jennifer asked, sounding confused. She’d first been drugged into unconsciousness and later forced to ingest the hallucinogen, leaving her completely unaware of what had happened.
Alice, feeling exasperated, explained, "You were too careless. Someone drugged you."
"What?! Then... am I—" Jennifer paled, checking her body frantically. She was first overtaken by the overwhelming sensations pulsing through her. Her face turned ghostly white.
"Don’t worry. Nothing bad happened to you. I got wind of what was going on and immediately found Mr. Smith. If it hadn’t been for him, your evening would have been completely ruined at John Smith’s hands."
"What?! It was Mr. Smith who saved me?" Jennifer exclaimed, her tone laced with excitement. She squirmed slightly, unable to resist the drug’s lingering effects. If Alice weren’t present, she’d have taken matters into her own hands.
Alice nodded. "Of course. Who else could’ve beaten up John Smith and gotten you out of there?"
"Where’s Mr. Smith now?"
"He left after instructing me to give you a hot bath. By the way, how are you feeling now?"
Jennifer flushed red. "I feel terrible. Honestly, I wish Mr. Smith were here right now."
Alice couldn’t help but laugh. "Serves you right. Anyway, Mr. Smith said you’d just have to bear through it. I’m done here—I’ve been stressed out the whole night already."
After Alice left, Jennifer couldn’t resist any longer. Her hands wandered over her skin, her thoughts filled with images of James’s face. Soon enough, sensual moans filled the bathroom.
Alice heard it all from outside but knew it was just the lingering effects of the drug and didn’t pay it much mind. Her thoughts, however, were entirely focused on James. Normally, he was approachable and easy to talk to, making Alice feel close to him. But when he unleashed his commanding presence, it was unmatched—no ordinary man could compare. Alice’s heart was tightly bound to him.
At the same time, regret bubbled up within her. Back in college, she’d had a boyfriend and been intimate with him. Later, she dated two more men, repeating the cycle. She was far from being innocent by conventional standards. A man like James Brown—how could he ever be interested in someone like her?
"Sigh..." Alice couldn’t help but release a sorrowful sigh.
At some point, Jennifer had come out of the bathroom. Her cheeks still glowed crimson. "What’s the matter?"
Alice and Jennifer were close like sisters, so Alice didn’t hide her thoughts. "I really regret not being more self-respecting in the past. If I were still pure now, I could pursue Mr. Smith properly."
Jennifer, however, was much more pragmatic. "Come on, who doesn’t have a past these days? Mr. Smith isn’t some old-fashioned prude."
"I doubt he’s that old-fashioned, but for someone like him... any flaw in myself makes me lose confidence entirely."
Jennifer sat beside Alice, laughing softly. "Sure, one of us alone might not be enough, but together, we could work something out. Men love that type of arrangement. If we teamed up, I wouldn’t be worried about holding Mr. Smith’s heart."
"Together..." Alice hesitated, but her heart was tempted. She and Jennifer had always shared a close bond—so much so that partnering like this didn’t bother her in the least. If this could bring them closer to Mr. Smith, she might just consider it.
