The sound of knocking rose, and Gina Lopez stood up to open the door. Very few people visited her at this time—most of them were Sunny Nguyen.

Sunny Nguyen walked in, noticing that James Brown was also here, immediately smiled and said, "I hope I’m not interrupting your lovely couple’s romantic talk?"

Gina’s face turned red and she retorted, "Sister Sunny, you are still teasing me. You’ve had your share of romances and spoken plenty of love yourself."

Now it was Sunny Nguyen’s turn to feel awkward. She didn’t expect Gina to say such words in front of James Brown, neither moving forward seemed right nor did retreating.

"Sister Sunny, come in." Gina then pulled Sunny inside and pushed her onto the sofa next to James, taking a seat on his other side.

Though Gina’s action seemed casual, to Sunny Nguyen and James Brown, it was somewhat awkward. It seemed like Gina should have sat next to James and pulled Sunny to sit on her side instead.

Gina then laughed and said, "James, Sister Sunny is your old flame, you wouldn’t be embarrassed just because I’m here, right?"

James Brown coughed dryly and didn’t dare to respond. Gina was officially his wife now, and though he might have clandestine relationships with other women, openly flirting with Sunny Nguyen in front of Gina would be disrespectful to her.

This made James feel like Gina was testing him, making him even more hesitant to interject.

Gina hooked James Brown’s arm, leaned forward across him, and said to Sunny Nguyen, "Sister Sunny, did you need something from me?"

Sunny Nguyen felt extremely awkward at this moment, but managed a strained smile, saying, "Nothing in particular. I just couldn’t sleep and thought I’d come over for a chat, not realizing you two were here. Guess I’ve become your third wheel."

Gina’s face flushed slightly. Although she and James had truly become husband and wife, and their affection made them unconsciously closer, being teased by Sunny was a bit too much. She let go of James’s arm and said, "He just came over because he had nothing better to do, I’m not fond of it."

James Brown hurriedly said, "Then I’ll leave you two to chat."

This time Gina let James Brown go; he quickly slipped out, taking a long breath after closing the door. Caught between his wife and his lover was overwhelming indeed.

However, seeing Gina’s attitude, James Brown was even more puzzled than ever. The way she treated Sunny Nguyen without jealousy seemed abnormally calm.

James Brown had nothing to do that afternoon and since it was Friday, he headed back to his old place. His stay at Gina’s place was different from before, so he had to bring more of his belongings over.

Upon opening the door, James saw a pair of shoes at the entrance that startled him, and then Emma Campbell quickly walked out of the bedroom. First, she nervously glanced towards James, then immediately expressed joy, saying, "Big Brother Brown, how come you’re back?"

James saw every change on Emma’s face which pained his heart. Clearly, Emma was checking if Gina was with him.

Though James hadn’t seen Emma during this period, he had contacted her daily. Perhaps he could let go of Melody Yoody, but Emma with her fragile demeanor was someone James found himself unable to utterly disconnect from.

Hence, Emma knew that James had now moved to Gina’s place.

"I came to check up on things." James closed the door behind him and then embraced Emma in his arms.

Emma instantly held James tightly, without a word, just embracing him firmly.

"Emma, how have you been at school these days?" While holding Emma, James sat down on the sofa with her and did not let go, letting her sit on his lap.

Emma looked up, her arms around James’s neck, and sweetly smiled, "Very well."

"Then why have you lost weight?" James gently stroked Emma’s cheek.

Emma inwardly panicked. Knowing James and Gina were married, she might verbally express support for James, but how could she not feel dejected? These days, she lost her appetite, and today, without any classes in the afternoon, she couldn’t help but come here. She didn’t expect to see James, but staying for a while in the place where he lived, feeling his presence, was intoxicating to her.

"Not really, I’ve just been busy studying, the exams are in a month, and I’m focusing on that," she said.

James didn’t believe her excuse, but in trying to come up with something to reassure Emma, he found that anything he might say seemed hollow. In the end, he could only hold her tighter and whisper, "You really are a silly girl."

Emma gently caressed James’s face, her eyes filled with tenderness, "Big Brother Brown, don’t worry about me. I’m really fine. I just came here to take a look today, and seeing you made me even happier."

James Brown’s heart was deeply stabbed again, his lips trembled, and he lowered his head and kissed Emma Campbell.

Emma Campbell’s body stiffened, then she passionately responded to James Brown. Her frail body unexpectedly burst with incredible strength, and she swiftly toppled James Brown onto the sofa.

Emma Campbell was incredibly passionate, James Brown both felt a need to make it up to her and genuinely missed her. "Big Brother Brown... Will you and your wife... come here?" Emma Campbell asked cautiously.

"No, she hasn’t gotten off work yet."

"In the future... She probably won’t come."

"Then... can I often stay here in the future?"

"Of course, I hadn’t planned on giving up this apartment anyway. You can stay as long as you want in the future; I’ll come back from time to time."

"Really?" Emma Campbell exclaimed with surprise.

"You are truly foolish!"

James Brown gave a wry smile and said, "It feels like you’re going to leave me."

Emma Campbell paused, gazed into James Brown’s eyes, and said, "Big Brother Brown, Emma belong to you for this whole life, I will never be with another man, never leave you. Even if Big Brother Brown doesn’t want Emma anymore, I will still silently wait, devoting my life only to you."

It was meant as a joke by James Brown, but it prompted such a confession from Emma Campbell, making his heart feel both sour and painful. He nodded heavily, saying, "Emma, I promise you too, no matter what, I won’t abandon you. In this life, you are my woman, and I am your man."

Emma Campbell’s eyes reddened slightly, but she quickly smiled sweetly and said, "Big Brother Brown, then you’ll have a burden. I really don’t hope for that, just knowing you think of me is enough.
