Chapter 360: Chapter 367: This is the Real Deal
After registering and waiting in line, Gina Lopez finally entered the gynecologist’s clinic.
The doctor was a woman in her forties, and after letting Gina sit down, she asked, "What’s wrong?"
Gina’s face turned red, and she stammered, "I... I bled last night."
"Bleeding? Can you explain in more detail?" The female doctor had seen many such patients before, so she spoke with a gentle tone.
Gina glanced back, noting the door was closed because this was a gynecology clinic. After biting her lip, she recounted the events of the previous night.
The doctor was momentarily speechless and said, "Based on what you’ve described, it seems to be a ruptured hymen. Surely you know about this, don’t you?"
Though embarrassed, Gina still said, "I know, but I drank too much with my husband that day, and we already had intercourse. How could it rupture again?"
"I see, let’s do an examination then." The doctor took Gina to the adjacent examination room, had her remove her pants, and then conducted a thorough examination, eventually speaking with impatience, "This is clearly a freshly ruptured hymen, there’s nothing wrong."
Gina’s eyes widened in shock as she exclaimed, "Doctor, could there be a mistake?"
The doctor’s demeanor turned stern, "If you don’t trust my examination, you can go to another hospital for a check-up."
At this point, Gina was genuinely flustered, not even aware of how she had come out of the examination room.
Seeing Gina’s dazed state, James Brown was startled and quickly wrapped his arm around her shoulder, asking anxiously, "What’s wrong?"
Gina replied distractedly, "She said... it was caused by a ruptured hymen."
"What?" James’s eyes went wide.
"Ha... haha... hahaha..." Emily Lopez suddenly burst out laughing, and her laughter was so loud that it immediately drew Gina’s attention.
"What are you laughing at?" Gina was feeling irate, not knowing quite why, but seeing her sister laughing made her very annoyed.
Emily rubbed her eyes, which had teared up from laughing so hard, and trying to contain her mirth, she said, "It’s nothing, it’s nothing, let’s hurry up and leave, there are too many people here."
Gina grew even more irritated and retorted, "You’re aware there are too many people here, yet you’re laughing like a madwoman."
Emily laughed again briefly, then clapped her hand over her mouth and quickly walked forward, her shoulders twitching with suppressed laughter, clearly still laughing persistently.
Suddenly, James seemed to understand something and an odd expression crossed his face. Gina, arm-in-arm with James, said, "This girl is really hopeless, I really don’t know what she finds so funny."
Once they got into James’s car, Emily flopped onto the backseat and laughed wildly, pounding the seat in the process, her laughter unrestrained.
"Why are you laughing? Explain yourself," Gina practically felt like she was going crazy. It wasn’t surprising that her sister was laughing; she thought she and James had already been intimate, but it turned out they had not, and this was actually the first time. A woman not even knowing if she is still a virgin was indeed quite embarrassing.
"You... wait... wait, ha... wait until I’ve laughed enough," said Emily, before bursting into laughter again for several minutes. Only after sitting up and pulling out a couple of tissues to wipe away her laughter-induced tears, her body still trembling, did she appear ready to talk.
Finally, when Emily had laughed her fill and wiped her tears, she looked at the two of them with a giggly expression and said, "Brother-in-law, sis, you guys didn’t really do that thing last time."
Gina’s eyes bulged, "What did you say?"
Emily snickered and said, "Sis, you didn’t drink too much that day, did you?"
Although Gina felt extremely confused, she still carefully thought back and said, "I didn’t really drink much that day."
Emily then turned to James and said, "Brother-in-law, your tolerance isn’t so low that you would get drunk from that little, right?"
At that moment, James felt like a storm cloud had appeared overhead and asked, "Did you put something in our drinks?"
Emily Lopez suddenly burst into triumphant laughter. "Yes, that day I put sleeping pills in your drinks. My sister fell asleep without much trouble, but you’re really something else. I first slipped you two pills, and you were fine. Added another two, still fine. It wasn’t until I put four more that you finally went to sleep," she said.
James Brown had "black lines" all over his head as he exclaimed, "You weren’t afraid you’d drug me to death?"
At this moment, James Brown felt utterly dejected. As the second member of Hawk Squad, he usually had intense drug resistance training, and ordinary drugs indeed have less effect on them. Plus, it was unlikely for them to be drugged by others. However, he could never have imagined Emily Lopez would drug him, and with just ordinary sleeping pills, no less.
Emily Lopez stuck out her tongue and said, "Back then, I didn’t think too much about it, I even thought the pills might be fake."
James Brown and Gina Lopez exchanged a glance, at a loss for words.
Emily Lopez continued with pride, "After I took both of you down, I stripped off your clothes."
"Then you’re saying we didn’t... But what about the blood?" Gina glared at Emily.
Emily shook her head and said playfully, "I originally wanted to get some kind of red dye, but I was afraid you’d see through it. Since we happened to have slaughtered a chicken that day, I secretly took a little bit of its blood... Hehe, and then I sprinkled it on your bed. You really didn’t notice, hahaha..."
James Brown was speechless at this point. He had actually been trapped by a woman like Emily Lopez without an inkling. It was downright embarrassing. Most importantly, despite knowing it was Emily’s doing, he couldn’t muster up any resentment against her.
But Gina Lopez flew into a rage upon hearing this, shouting, "Emily Lopez, how could you do such a thing?"
Gina raised her voice defiantly, "It’s because you’re so daft. After all this time, you and Brother-in-law have made no progress. Even when Mom pretended to be sick, desperately wanting grandchildren, you both dilly-dallied. If I hadn’t given you a strong push, would you have become husband and wife like you are now? Hmph, being so loving today, yet quick to disown me when things turn sour, do you have no conscience whatsoever?"
Gina felt her sister’s behavior was utterly ridiculous, completely nonsensical. Yet after last night’s tenderness with James, she did feel genuinely happy about being with him, so she found herself unable to scold her sister.
James, however, found the situation bittersweet. In the Hawk Squad, he’d faced countless schemes but was never fooled like this. But with his niece Emily, he’d fallen for it and committed his entire life to it.
Yet James wasn’t angry at all. Holding Gina’s hand, he smiled and said, "Don’t be mad, Emily did it for our own good. Besides, we’re married now, and Emily is our chief matchmaker. How can we blame her?"
At this point, Gina wasn’t angry anymore either. James’s words gave her an out, and with a snort, she said, "This girl is just too mischievous."
Ignoring Gina, Emily leaned forward, hugging the back of James’s chair from behind, and said cheerfully, "Brother-in-law is the best, not scolding me."
James laughed, "Of course, how could I scold such an adorable niece."
Emily giggled and said, "Exactly, where could you find such a wonderful niece like me?"
With a huff, Gina said, "Stop showing off. Honey, hurry up and take her to work."
James agreed, started the car, and drove a short distance before Emily couldn’t help but burst into laughter again. The whole situation was just too dramatic and amusing, especially remembering the dumbfounded expressions of Gina and James when they found out it was their first time, which made Emily want to laugh every time she thought about it.
James laughed too. Having such a niece brought him nothing but joy, and he couldn’t feel any ill will towards her, and reflecting on everything, it was indeed quite funny.
But Gina couldn’t find it funny; she was too embarrassed. Her first time had been so confusing, no wonder the doctor looked at her as if she were an idiot. It was beyond humiliating, but as much as she wanted to, she couldn’t bring herself to hate Emily.
On top of that, Gina was feeling conflicted. Since her relationship with James hadn’t actually happened that day, and her mother’s illness was a ruse, did James really want to marry her? Was this deceiving James, and would it leave a thorn in his heart?
However, with Emily in the car, Gina didn’t ask and could only hold back her thoughts temporarily.
"Brother-in-law, sis, hehe, you have to treat me to a big dinner tonight as a celebration of your blissful union," Emily said before getting out of the car, grabbing James’s seat again with a grin.
James replied with a smile, "Sure, no problem. I’ll pick you up in the evening, and we’ll go for a big dinner together."
"I knew Brother-in-law was the best." Emily smiled joyfully, got out of the car, and with light steps, she walked toward her workplace. But after a few steps, she burst into laughter again, then ran into her office.
"James..." This time, Gina did not call him "honey." Biting her lip, she asked slowly, "Do you have any regrets?"
By then, James had started the car, turned it around, and merged onto the main road. He patted Gina’s leg and reassured with a smile, "How could I have any regrets?"
