Chapter 355: Chapter 362 Melody Yoody
Melody Yoody waited for a while and then received the results of the examination, and upon seeing the results, she couldn’t help but bitterly smile, as she was actually pregnant.
Needless to say, it was the result of their relations that day after they drank too much, this outcome really took Melody Yoody by surprise.
Back when she was in high school and secretly tasted the forbidden fruit with James Brown, she had gotten pregnant. Fearing her parents would find out, she secretly had an abortion, which led to severe bleeding and exposed her relationship with James, resulting in James joining the military.
This time was still an accident; she was not at all prepared for having a child now.
After thinking for a while, Melody Yoody took out her phone and called James Brown, who answered quickly, asking, "How were the results?"
"I’m pregnant," Melody Yoody uttered four words.
"What? Are you joking, stop teasing me, what really happened?"
"Hehe, just kidding, nothing’s wrong. By the way, I wanted to ask, what should I do if I really was pregnant?"
"What to do..." James Brown hesitated immediately, now that he is already married to Gina Lopez, although he was somewhat reluctant about this marriage, he is now Gina’s husband. How should he handle it if Melody Yoody actually had his child?
"Don’t make it difficult, I’m not really pregnant, look how nervous you are. Let’s not talk more, I have to go back to work." After saying that, Melody Yoody hung up the phone.
In Melody Yoody’s heart, she did not want to have children now as she was at a critical moment in her career. Going to school to study, she was about to be promoted soon. Being pregnant at this time would definitely affect her career advancement, but if James really liked children, then she would rather give up the opportunity and have the child.
James Brown’s indecisive attitude made her realize that he was also not ready to be a father, so she had already made the decision not to keep the baby.
She didn’t leave the hospital, instead, she went straight to the gynecology department, ready to terminate the pregnancy. The baby was only a month old, whether through surgery or medical abortion, neither posed a severe problem. A few days of rest would allow her to return to work, and nobody would know.
Abortion required some examinations, but after receiving the results, what the doctor said threw Melody Yoody’s heart into turmoil.
"You can’t have another abortion. The last abortion has already caused severe damage to your uterus. If you abort again, you might never be able to have children in the future."
A woman can postpone having children, but not for a lifetime, and Melody Yoody didn’t harbor thoughts of never having children her whole life.
"Sigh, how could I get pregnant just like that, this is too accurate!" Melody Yoody was annoyed, but she quickly made her decision. She had to give birth to this baby, this was her only chance to be a mother, the only chance to have a child with James Brown.
"Seeing his attitude, he probably will be really shocked if I tell him now that I’m pregnant. I won’t tell him for now, better to subtly make him think about being a dad first, then tell him later."
Melody Yoody, as a local community leader, quickly made such a decision.
James Brown did not know that he had already become a father-to-be, as he was busy with Helen Wilson at T District.
After breaking a major smuggling case last time, the money that Helen Wilson and he had invested could finally be retrieved. Naturally, James Brown had to be present for this.
As this time involved a considerable amount of money, the T District’s investigation was thorough, and the process of getting the money involved a lot of procedures. After a busy afternoon, James Brown finally got all the money.
James Brown and Helen Wilson immediately went to the bank, Helen Wilson’s one million dollars naturally had to be withdrawn. It was the money her parents had saved all their lives; now that it was used, it should be returned to them.
"Now you can give the money back to your parents, and you don’t have to hide it from them anymore. I believe they will be proud of you," James Brown teased Helen Wilson with a smile.
Helen Wilson glanced at James Brown and said, "Yes, after repaying them, I won’t have to say I have a boyfriend, and I will be free again."
Upon hearing this, James Brown felt a bit uncomfortable, saying, "What do you mean, our relationship is completely over now?"
"What else do you want?" Helen Wilson glared, "Don’t think that just because we’ve been intimate, I belong to you now. I am still myself, I did that for my career, understand?"
James Brown faced Helen Wilson’s gaze, and she did not back down in her stare down with him.
"Alright, since you think this way, I have nothing to say, anyway, we are still friends, right?" James Brown saw from her eyes that she had made up her mind and spoke with a smile, though feeling somewhat relieved not to worry about owing Helen Wilson emotionally. Yet, he also felt a loss; after all, he was somewhat fond of Helen, this always contrary female police officer.
"I hope you don’t have any ideas about me now, do you?" Helen Wilson suddenly blurted out.
James Brown chuckled dryly and said, "What else could I possibly think? I’m already married."
"Married? To whom?" Helen Wilson suddenly widened her eyes, anger evident in them.
James Brown hesitated to meet Helen Wilson’s gaze, and said, "Gina Lopez."
"Gina Lopez...huh, you sly fox, you actually married a CEO? You’ve really hit the jackpot," Helen Wilson then surprisingly burst into laughter, pounding on James Brown’s chest, but her smile seemed somewhat forced.
James Brown said, "I was worried you would be angry, but since you’ve decided to let go of what was between us, I don’t need to worry anymore."
Helen Wilson curled her lip in disdain, "You think everyone treasures you? Now that you’ve got a wife, behave yourself in the future and stop flirting around, especially with Sarah Utah. Be very careful."
"Yeah, I’ve already told her," he replied.
"That’s not too bad then. You’ve got some conscience after all. Alright, it’s just after five, hurry home, otherwise your wife won’t let you off if you return late."
After speaking, Helen Wilson opened the car door, stepped out, and quickly began walking forward without looking back, then turned a corner and disappeared from James Brown’s sight.
James Brown sighed. Handling things with Helen Wilson this way was perhaps the best outcome, and he drove straight back to Gina Lopez’s place.
Before heading home, James Brown had mentally prepared himself. Since he was already married to Gina Lopez and had admitted his intention to live a mutual life, plus they had already been intimate, he decided to act like a normal husband, rather than a stranger to Gina Lopez.
Having bought some groceries, James Brown then went home. Although it was the end of the workday and neither Gina Lopez nor Emily Lopez were back, he started busying himself in the kitchen.
After about ten minutes, Emily Lopez returned and immediately ran to the kitchen, excitedly saying, "Brother-in-law, you came back early to cook for us?"
Now in a good mood, James Brown smiled and said, "Yes, hurry and get cleaned up, then call your sister to see what time she’ll be back."
Emily Lopez promptly made a call to Gina Lopez, and quickly returned to the kitchen. She had changed into a sleeveless tank top and a pair of short shorts that reached her thighs, excitedly stating, "Brother-in-law, my sister said she’ll be back in half an hour."
James Brown nodded, "Then I should start cooking now, she’ll have a meal ready when she gets back."
Emily Lopez stood next to James Brown, tilting her head curiously as she watched him, "Brother-in-law, what’s gotten into you today? Suddenly being so nice to my sister?"
Continuing to cook, James Brown replied with a smile, "Your sister and I are a couple; of course, I should be nicer to her. Otherwise, what kind of husband would I be?"
"But you... you haven’t truly fallen in love with my sister, have you?"
"We’re married, no need to talk about love. Love is for those who aren’t married like you."
"Lisa Smith... I tell you, brother-in-law, you are really nice this way. I was worried you’d keep being awkward with my sister."
"What’s there to be awkward about? Your sister is beautiful, talented, and wealthy. She can support me even if I don’t work. Who wouldn’t want such a wife? I got really lucky."
"Pfft..." Emily Lopez burst out laughing, leaning on James Brown’s shoulder, "Stop joking, brother-in-law, you lucky? I think my sister is the lucky one. But I’m relieved to see you reconciled to it; I was worried you’d keep feeling miserable staying with me."
"Heh, not miserable, I’m quite happy."
"That’s right, and there’s even a little sister-in-law like me, it’d be a shame if you weren’t happy."
With a stern face, James Brown said, "I married your sister, why are you joining in the excitement?"
Giggling, Emily Lopez remarked, "Everyone says a sister-in-law is half the sister’s behind. Since you married her, of course, I’m part of the package too."
James Brown suddenly broke into a sweat. It’s not unusual for a sister-in-law to joke with her brother-in-law, especially in some rural areas where it’s quite common. But those are just jests, and not often do things actually happen. Yet Emily Lopez, this sister-in-law, somehow made James Brown feel like she was a bit too familiar with her brother-in-law.
"Brother-in-law... my sister won’t be back for a while, and I’m tired, could you help rub my feet?" Emily Lopez then made a request that made James Brown’s heart race and yet left him embarrassed.
