Chapter 258: Chapter 263 Gina Lopez’s Acting Skills
Ten minutes later, James Brown and Gina Lopez had arrived at Helen Wilson’s house. James immediately introduced them to each other. Gina, with a smile on her face, extended her hand gracefully to Helen, saying, "Hello, I’m sorry for the trouble this time, I deeply apologize, and I hope I can make up for my mistake."
Helen took Gina’s hand and looked her up and down with a bit of surprise, "Is this really your first time meeting me?"
"You met my sister last time, even our parents can’t tell us apart when we are together."
"No wonder you’re twins, you really do look alike. I’ve had my eyes opened. James already told me about the situation; as long as you handle it calmly, I think there should be no big problem."
James interjected, "Alright, no more pleasantries, let’s get the makeup started."
Helen agreed, and told Gina, "Miss Lopez, could you rest a bit while I do James’ makeup?"
"Sure, you go ahead."
Helen immediately started doing James’ makeup. Gina was keenly observing, but after a while, she became quite suspicious of their relationship. While Helen was applying makeup, her hands were moving all over James’ face, which was normal. But her body also touched James from time to time. Especially when she asked James to tilt his head back, she stood right in front of him, her chest close to his face, and when she leaned down, the view down her neckline was probably all visible to James.
Helen seemed utterly indifferent to James’ gaze. If it were all about professionalism, that’d be one thing, but Gina felt that Helen knew that James could see and still didn’t mind. It was impossible to say their relationship wasn’t close.
"This jerk, why does he always have so many women around him?" Helen grumbled to herself, thinking of James’ girlfriend Emma Campbell, his first love Melody Yoody, and now there’s a policewoman Helen Wilson.
Originally, Gina didn’t want her sister to be with James, so she decided to be with him herself. If James was with another woman, it would have the same effect, but now Gina found herself increasingly uncomfortable, perhaps because she didn’t want her sister to lose to another woman, or maybe she was just growing more attached to James herself.
At 6:20 PM, Helen completed James’ makeup and also did a bit for Gina, who was a celebrity in YODC City. If she went as herself, it would be easy for people to recognize her, so she gave them both a quick briefing before letting James and Gina leave. They hurriedly took a taxi and arrived at M Restaurant before seven.
John Smith was already waiting in the restaurant hall. Upon seeing James, he came up with a smile, "Mr. Lee, you are punctual indeed."
James shook hands with John Smith, blinking his eyes and said, "Well, Little Sam, if you invite me, how can I not come? I am really depending on you for this steel business."
"No problem, I’ve got this covered," John Mitchell patted his chest strongly, then turned his gaze to Gina, his eyes suddenly brightened, "Sister-in-law is really beautiful, Mr. Lee, you are truly fortunate."
Although Gina had been made up by Helen, which changed her appearance somewhat, the inherent high class and elegance could not be completely concealed. Even if her current appearance was only sixty to seventy percent as beautiful as her original, she was still undeniably gorgeous. No wonder John Smith reacted the way he did.
Gina generously stretched out her hand, "You must be Little Sam, we really depend on your help with this business deal for Mr. Davis."
John Smith shook hands with Gina quickly, not lingering, and said with a grin, "Sister-in-law, don’t worry, Mr. Lee and I get along very well, I will definitely help out. Plus, this is a profitable venture, how could I not be involved?"
"That’s great," Gina said with a sweet smile, looking even more radiant.
John Smith couldn’t help but glance a few more times at Gina before saying to James, "Mr. Lee, sister-in-law, let’s go, I’m hosting today, let’s have a good drink."
Once they were in the private room, John Smith was indeed generous; he ordered quite a bit of food and then frequently urged James and Gina to drink. Gina handled it gracefully, making John Smith even more envious.
"I’m going to the restroom," Gina stood up, smiling apologetically, and walked out of the room.
James let out a long sigh and then patted John Smith’s shoulder gratefully, "Brother, I appreciate it."
John Smith chuckled, "Of course, but I must say Mr. Lee, your wife is indeed no small matter. She looks like a real lady."
James sighed, "She’s great, but because of that, I feel pressured. She controls this and that, telling me what I can and can’t do, it’s really suffocating."
"Heh, I get it, having a wife like that can be pressuring. Still, it’s your lover who really has the flavor."
James freaked out and suddenly turned to look at the door, then nervously said, "Be careful what you say, if she hears it, I’m dead."
"Haha, sister-in-law isn’t here, otherwise how could I say such things?" John Smith laughed proudly.
Just then, the door opened, and Gina walked in, smiling at John Smith, "Little Sam, what are you saying that can only be said when I’m not around, and why are you so happy about it?"
James Brown urgently signaled to John Smith with his eyes, but Gina Lopez glared and said, "What are you signaling Little Sam for? Little Sam, if you have something to say, just say it and ignore him."
John Smith then chuckled and said, "Sister-in-law, I was just saying that when you’re not around, I want to take Mr. Lee out for some fun, but Mr. Lee refused no matter what, and just then you came in."
Only then did Gina Lopez nod in satisfaction, smiled at James Brown first, then latched onto his arm and said, "Our Mr. Davis can indeed be trusted, but having a bit of money always attracts some bees and butterflies, so I have to keep a close watch. Little Sam, I’m going back tomorrow, from now on you’ll have to help me keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t talk nonsense outside."
"Don’t worry, don’t worry, I’m here, Mr. Lee won’t go off talking nonsense, or you can hold me accountable."
"Okay, that’s great, come on, I’ll drink to you."
After a hearty meal and drinks, John Smith immediately said, "Mr. Lee, sister-in-law, let’s go sing some songs."
Gina Lopez politely said, "Thank you Little Sam, but we can’t let you spend any more."
At that moment, John Smith, his face slightly red from drinking, loudly said, "What expense? I’ve already booked everything, and if sister-in-law doesn’t go, that means you’re not giving me face."
Gina Lopez looked hesitantly at James Brown, to which James Brown said to John Smith, "Little Sam, I think it’s better to just leave it be."
John Smith quickly said, "Let’s just go sing some songs, have some drinks, and have a good chat. There’s a room above the karaoke hall, I’ve booked it for you guys too, so when you’re tired, you can go straight up to rest without having to go back to the hotel."
James Brown instantly thought of the room he stayed in yesterday with Helen Wilson, realizing John Smith was still testing the two of them, hesitated for a moment, then said, "Wife, Little Sam is really hospitable, let’s just go have some fun."
Gina Lopez gave James Brown a glance and said, "Alright then, Little Sam, we won’t be polite with you."
John Smith laughed heartily, "Why be polite with me? In the future, if we make it in business, really help me earn some money, that would be genuine."
They took a cab and arrived at the karaoke hall they visited the day before, booked a small room, and played for a while. Since John Smith hadn’t hired any singers to accompany them today, he was not very enthusiastic. After a while, he suggested that James Brown and Gina Lopez go rest.
This perfectly matched what Gina Lopez wanted; having acted for so long facing someone like John Smith, she was truly fed up. She readily agreed, happy to comply. But when she got to the room that was prepared, she suddenly realized there was only one room and one bed, which meant she would have to share the bed with James Brown tonight.
Sleeping in the same bed with James Brown wasn’t the first time, it had happened many times, but it was always at her home, in her bed, at least that was a home game, so Gina Lopez felt she still had some say.
But in such a strange environment, sharing a bed with James Brown again, suddenly made her feel really unsure.
As these thoughts ran through her mind, James Brown suddenly closed the room door and instantly embraced her, kissing her on the lips. Gina Lopez was stunned; James Brown had never done this before, it was just too much for her, and she struggled fiercely.
"There are cameras in this room." A single sentence from James Brown, like a bolt from the blue, completely stunned Gina Lopez.
"Don’t be afraid, now if you get angry, it can all be covered up," James Brown kissed her cheek and whispered.
Gina Lopez immediately got the hint, pushed James Brown away forcefully, sat on the bed with a huff, crossed her left leg over her right, and coldly looked at James Brown, "Stand properly, I have something to ask you."
James Brown hurriedly approached with a silly grin, "Wife, what is it, can’t we talk after we get cozy?"
"Stand properly!" Gina Lopez shouted again, and like being struck by lightning, James Brown stood properly in front of her.
"I’m asking you, in these past two days, have you been up to something else?"
"No, I was just discussing business."
"Really? Then why does the manager at the entrance of this karaoke hall recognize you?"
"I... I came here yesterday, but I was with Little Sam."
"Just the two of you big men, coming here to wail, do you think I’m a fool?" Gina Lopez said, slapping the bed forcefully and shouting sternly.
James Brown suddenly felt very awkward; even if it was just acting, was there a need to be so fierce? Gina Lopez really lived up to being a boss; the aura of a boss was indeed too powerful.
