Chapter 226: Chapter 227: The Office
At past two in the afternoon, James Brown arrived at Sunny Nguyen’s office, and after a brief discussion about some matters, Sunny, with a smile on her face, looked at James and said, "What’s with the long face?"
James, with his arms resting on the back of the sofa and legs stretched out, let out a long sigh and said, "I’m plagued by romantic troubles, how can I be feeling good?"
Sunny gave James a look and said, "I don’t recall putting any pressure on you, did I?"
James slid down a bit to get more comfortable and said, "You didn’t put any pressure on me, but Gina Lopez, on the other hand, is pressuring me a lot. Her parents are here, pressuring me for marriage as we speak."
Sunny’s beautiful eyebrows raised slightly before she burst into laughter and said, "Well, this is a fine mess. Aren’t you going to have to marry Gina now?"
James rolled his eyes in exasperation and said, "Marry who? I wouldn’t marry her even if I were to marry you."
This comment greatly amused Sunny, and she came over to sit beside James, softly pounding on his thigh with her hands and said, "What’s wrong with Gina? Why do you dislike her so much?"
James replied, "It’s not that I dislike her, but she and I are just not on the same path. To put it crudely, we’re not a good match. She is a typical career-oriented woman, and I’m a seeker of leisure. Our personalities are just incompatible. Forcing us together would only lead to constant bickering and fights."
Sunny tilted her head, smiling coyly and said, "Actually, I think you two could be quite suitable. One takes care of domestic matters and the other focuses on career. I feel that conflicts are more likely when both are career-oriented. Couples need someone to take care of the home, right?"
James shook his head and said, "Even if there’s logic in what you say, love requires a spark, doesn’t it? Gina and I have never had that spark. If we weren’t fairly good friends, I would have walked away long ago instead of continuing this charade with her."
Sunny giggled lightly and said, "But her parents are here pushing for marriage, if you’re not going to agree, shouldn’t you end things sooner rather than later?"
"Gina said she’ll get us a fake marriage certificate to fool her parents, and once they leave, we’ll be fine."
"Giggle, you two are quite resourceful." Sunny laughed, her eyes suddenly becoming enchanting.
"Hey, what are you up to?" James felt a shiver down his spine under her gaze, a look he was quite familiar with—it was Sunny trying to seduce him.
"What do you think I... want to do?" Sunny leaned on James’s chest, looked up at him, one hand clinging to his neck while the other headed straight for a sensitive spot, "You haven’t come to see me for days, I’ve missed you."
James chuckled awkwardly and said, "Sunny, we’re in an office."
Sunny leaned in further, her face just inches away from James’s, her right hand gently rubbing below his abdomen as she spoke in a playful, sly voice, "What’s there to fear in the office? Don’t all you men love this kind of thrill? It’s exactly these kinds of places that add to the excitement."
James felt a surge of heat as Sunny’s provocations took effect. Any man would struggle to maintain control in the face of such a tempting woman, especially when James had experienced taunting joy with Sunny numerous times before, particularly in the office—such an exhilarating place. Attempting restraint was exceedingly difficult for him now.
James had undergone intense training, including resistance to seduction, which mainly ensured he could keep his cool and not blurt out anything he shouldn’t amidst temptation. But it didn’t mean he could remain unaffected by Sunny’s allure.
"Are you sure you want to do it here today?" James’s eyes burned with desire as he fixed his gaze on Sunny like a wild beast.
"If you disagree... then I guess we’ll just have to go back home," Sunny teased.
"You little demoness, if you’re not afraid, what should I be scared of?" James stretched his arms, pulling Sunny into an embrace, leaned down, and kissed her deeply.
Sunny let out an attractive moan from her nose, responding passionately to James. Although she never admitted wanting to have an emotional connection with James and considered their relationship to be purely mutual convenience, she knew she wasn’t that kind of woman. Even with needs, it could only be James providing her comfort and no other man casually pulled into the picture.
The pleasure that James had brought her for the first time was unforgettable for Sunny, and it made her throw away any pretense every time they were alone together, irresistibly tempted to seduce him. Aftenward, she invariably felt somewhat licentious, yet she was unable to extricate herself from it.
Knowing that she wouldn’t have the chance to be alone with James once Gina returned, Sunny wanted to seize the moment with James in the office, craving that intense passion. She was like someone addicted, unable to resist.
Having an affair in the office is indeed thrilling. In such an environment, both parties are constantly on guard against someone barging in, keeping their voices especially subdued. That worry, the tension, brings a different kind of pleasure. It was so for James Brown, and it was the same for Sunny Nguyen. The excitement accelerated their climaxes.
When they finally embraced each other intensely, they both felt a satisfaction they had never experienced before, clinging tightly and unwilling to let go.
But then, the sudden sound of knocking on the door startled Sunny Nguyen, who quickly stood up in alarm, frantically picking up her undergarments and skirt to slip on, while James Brown swiftly pulled his pants up. Fortunately, he hadn’t taken them all the way off, having just lowered them to his knees, which made it convenient at this moment.
"Who is it?" Sunny Nguyen took a deep breath before asking.
"Director Green, it’s Manager Michael wanting to see you," the secretary outside answered.
Sunny Nguyen glanced at James Brown, who had already lit a cigarette, seemingly having returned to normal, and that reassured her to say, "Let her in."
The door opened, and Sarah Utah walked in. Seeing James Brown was there too, she quickly said, "Director Green, I hope I’m not interrupting anything?"
"No, not at all. What’s the matter?" At this point, Sunny Nguyen had already seated herself at her desk, poised and elegant, showing no signs of the passionate encounter she’d just had with James Brown.
"Well, we need to make some further purchases, and I need Director Green’s signature before I can proceed," said Sarah Utah as she handed over a stack of documents to Sunny Nguyen.
"Okay, take a seat for a moment, I’ll take a look," Sunny Nguyen gestured with her hand, signaling Sarah to sit down.
Sarah nodded and made her way over to sit next to James Brown, giving him a sweet smile which James Brown returned with a smile of his own.
"Oops!" Just as Sarah took her seat, she stood up again, touching her skirt and then glancing at the couch.
Following Sarah’s gaze, James Brown saw, to his dismay, a white viscous substance where Sarah had just sat—it was the residue from his recent amour with Sunny. They’d typically clean up after such encounters to avoid any mess, but the sudden interruption meant Sunny hadn’t had the chance to do so nor even put something down to sit on. In her hurry, she had accidentally let it spill onto the couch. Ironically, Sarah had managed to sit right in it.
If Sarah had just sat in it, it might have been okay, but as she touched it, it now clung to her hand, the white substance glaringly obvious between her fingers.
Staring at the stuff on her hand, Sarah felt waves of nausea. Although she couldn’t tell exactly what it was, the slimy texture suggested it wasn’t anything pleasant. But in Sunny Nguyen’s office, she couldn’t show her disgust too openly, not knowing where it came from. She wanted to find a tissue to wipe it off.
Sunny Nguyen was reviewing the applications, but her glance caught Sarah’s awkward expression. A moment of dread washed over her, and upon closer inspection, she saw the substance on Sarah’s hand, her face flushing with embarrassment. This was blatant evidence, and now her affair with James Brown could be exposed. She was wondering how to keep Sarah from speaking out when James Brown suddenly coughed violently.
"Big Brother Brown, are you okay?" Sarah looked at James Brown anxiously, her concern momentarily making her forget about the icky thing on her hand.
James Brown patted his chest, apologetically saying, "I’ve been smoking a bit too much these past days, always coughing... I even... coughed up some phlegm just now. Unfortunately, you ended up sitting in it. I am so sorry, please wipe it off, or better yet, go wash it."
Sarah’s face went dark. While she had feelings for James Brown, the thought that what was on her hand was a mouthful of phlegm turned her stomach. She quickly grabbed a facial tissue to wipe it off and then ran out in a panic, not even bothering to speak to Sunny Nguyen.
Initially overwhelmed by fear, Sunny Nguyen burst out laughing when Sarah left, her charm evident as she said, "You really are a smooth talker, coming up with such a story."
James Brown gave Sunny Nguyen a disgusted look, retorting, "It’s your own carelessness you’re talking about."
Pouting, Sunny retorted, "That stuff isn’t mine. How can you blame me?"
James Brown’s face turned dark, but then he couldn’t help but wonder: if Sarah knew what that stuff really was, what would her expression be like?
