James Brown flicked his cigarette ashes and said contentedly, "I’m doing quite well here, the salary and benefits are good, and I really don’t want to change places randomly. Ms. Lopez, I wish you a bright future in your new company, and I’ll continue being my modest self as a junior employee."

After finishing, James Brown stood up and headed straight for the door.

Gina Lopez called out just as James was about to leave, "You, stop right there."

James stopped in his tracks, turned his head towards Gina with a grin, and said, "Ms. Lopez, you’ve already submitted your resignation, you’ll soon no longer be my boss, no need to boss me around like this, right?"

Gina huffed and said, "If you won’t leave, then the people you pulled to leave are still breaking the rules. I know you did this for me, but I, Gina Lopez, intend to leave with my dignity intact. The JYPP Region Company was my initiation, even if I leave, I don’t want to see it destroyed, understand?" By the end of it, Gina’s tone had softened considerably.

Facing Gina’s gaze, James shrugged helplessly and said, "It wasn’t me who pulled them away, I didn’t make any promises to them, it’s only your charismatic leadership they’re following."

Without waiting for Gina to speak, James waved his hand and said, "Alright, I won’t be the bad guy anymore. Do as you like." With that, he opened the door and left the general manager’s office.

Gina watched the door open and close, shaking her head slightly. She knew James meant well, but such kindness was definitely against her principles, and she would never participate.

However, James’s demeanor left Gina somewhat annoyed. This guy, daring to ignore her authority as the boss, really needed a lesson. Wait until tonight to see how I deal with you.

After this thought crossed her mind, Gina herself almost laughed. Even though James was pretending to be her boyfriend, she really had no reason or right to discipline James at home.

James didn’t go far, just to Sunny Nguyen’s office next. The door was closed, but the voices inside were loud, clearly showing Sunny’s rage, the kind that stemmed from humiliation.

Sunny held a crucial position in the company, second only to Gina. The only people capable of humiliating or infuriating her like this would have to be from outside the JYPP Region Company, so James didn’t hesitate to push open the door of Sunny’s office.

Inside were three people, Sunny stood behind the desk, both hands on it, her face ashen. The other two, a man and a woman facing away from the door, turned around startled by James’s sudden entrance.

The man looked quite handsome in a crisp suit, the woman dressed flamboyantly, but her figure left much to be desired, especially her haughty demeanor that made one want to give her a good thumping.

These two were none other than Sunny’s ex-husband James Clark and his current wife Jessica Johnson.

No wonder Sunny felt so insulted and furious, Jessica was well known by James for her character.

Ignoring the couple, James walked past them straight to Sunny. Jessica and James Clark hadn’t paid James any attention until, after a few steps, Jessica suddenly turned around and snapped at James, "It’s you, kid!"

James knew Jessica had recognized him, but only leisurely turned around once he reached Sunny and said with a grin, "Oink-oink, you called me?"

Jessica’s face immediately turned the color of liver. Being on the plumper side, she hated discussions about her figure, especially since her father was the company’s vice-chairman, ensuring no one at the company dared comment on her appearance. James’s remark hit a sore spot, leaving her speechless from anger.

James Clark now recognized James as well, his expression changing drastically, he demanded, "Who are you?"

James gave James Clark a thumbs up and said, "I must say, you pass for a man, and choosing a plump woman isn’t the issue, but one as distasteful and annoying as this pig here, how you tolerate her is beyond me. I truly admire your endurance."

James Clark showed a hint of shame but glared at James furiously and demanded, "Who the hell are you, and what’s your relationship with her?"

Sunny turned pale as James’s sudden arrival indeed threw her off balance. Even though James Clark had remarried and they were divorced, her relationship with James felt like a betrayal to James Clark.

Seeing the shift in Sunny’s expression, James Clark grew even more furious and shouted, "Great, Sunny Nguyen, you found a man so quick, no wonder he beat someone up last time, turns out he’s involved with you. And you have the gall to blame me? You clearly had someone on the side long before."

Despite feeling a bit guilty initially, James Clark’s scathing accusations dissolved the last of Sunny’s feelings for him. She scoffed coldly, "What right do you have to say that? You ditch me for her, but won’t let me find someone after the divorce? Should all good things in this world belong only to you, James Clark?"

James clicked his tongue sympathetically at Jessica, "Look at that, piggy, while Pretty Boy might sleep by your side every night, his heart isn’t with you at all. I genuinely feel sorry for you."

Jessica Johnson was already very annoyed with James Clark’s attitude towards Sunny Nguyen, and now with James Brown stirring things up, her anger flamed even higher. She raised her hand and gave James Clark a resounding slap, exclaiming, "James Clark, what do you mean by this? Are you still thinking about her?"

The slap rang out loudly, and five bright red finger marks appeared on James Clark’s face. However, instead of getting angry, he hurriedly put on a smile and said, "I was just trying to humiliate her for you; it’s not that I really have feelings for her. Besides, you’ve seen it, she has another man now. How could I still be thinking about her?"

Sunny Nguyen looked at James Clark in such a state and suddenly felt pity for herself. "What was I thinking to have ever fancied such a spineless man?" she thought. She was very glad that she had divorced him early. If it had been any later, if she had had a child, it might have been a real tragedy. Fortunately, she had left early and freed herself sooner.

Jessica Johnson glared fiercely at James Clark and then turned to James Brown, commanding, "Speak!"

James Brown shivered, clearly terrified by Jessica, and then said, "That day I drove our Ms. Lopez to the main office, and after Ms. Lopez went for a meeting, I took a bath alone in the sauna. Then I saw him; he didn’t see me, and I dared not recognize him. After a while, I went upstairs to get a foot massage, and I saw him getting a foot massage too. After a bit..." James Brown paused, sneaking a glance at James Clark, "... the massage therapist took him to a private room. I don’t know what they did there, but when he came out, he saw me and was so scared, his face turned pale, then he gave me a few dollars, begging me not to tell anyone."
