Chapter 119: Chapter 119 Sandra Arrives
"Sandra, why didn’t you call me before you came? I would have come to pick you up." James also sat down on the couch, and with the two sisters sitting on the long couch, he could only sit to one side.
Emily Lopez immediately said with a giggly smile, "Wasn’t I trying to give you a surprise attack?"
James looked helpless and said, "Why don’t you trust the relationship between your sister and me yet?"
Emily Lopez glanced at Gina Lopez and said, "It’s not that I don’t believe it, it just feels weird when you two are together."
Gina Lopez glared and said, "What’s weird about it? Don’t judge the relationship between James and me through your perspective, okay?"
"Alright, alright, I won’t look. If I’m too picky, and you send me back home, then I’d be in trouble."
James laughed and said, "Gina, Sandra has come all this way; let her relax and have some fun here."
Emily Lopez nodded repeatedly and said, "Brother-in-law is really the best."
Gina Lopez snorted and said, "Just your sister is not good enough."
"My big sister is good too!" Emily Lopez affectionately hugged Gina Lopez around the neck, then immediately giggled and said, "You’re my lifesaver now; how dare I offend you?"
After joking a bit, James went to the kitchen to check things, then pretended something was missing and ran out. With Emily Lopez staying over these days, she could only stay here, so he had to notify Lucy Campbell. Otherwise, Lucy and Linda Campbell might call, and Emily would get suspicious.
He first called Lucy Campbell and told her he wouldn’t be home for the next couple of days. Lucy didn’t ask much, only asked him to notify her when he returned.
Then James called Emma Campbell. This girl stayed at his place every weekend; he had to let her know, or she would make a wasted trip.
Emma seemed quite disappointed but still agreed sweetly. She always tended to quietly do things for James when she was with him.
After arranging everything, James went back to Gina Lopez’s house with some groceries.
When he opened the door, he saw Gina Lopez standing at the doorstep—or rather, it was still unclear to him whether it was Gina Lopez or Emily Lopez, so James didn’t know what to call her.
"I’m Gina. Sandra is taking a shower." Gina Lopez at the doorstep frowned slightly in distress, helped James bring the stuff to the kitchen, then whispered, "With that girl here, you need to be careful."
James turned to Gina Lopez, flicked her forehead with a finger, and laughed, "Sandra, you’re up to your tricks again."
"Giggle..." A crisp laughter immediately confirmed James’s guess. Emily Lopez rubbed her head, stopped laughing, and looked at James puzzled, "Brother-in-law, how did you figure it out?"
James smiled proudly and said, "Did you think you could fool me with your little tricks? Don’t forget, I’ve been living with your sister for months now; couldn’t I recognize her?"
Emily Lopez tilted her head, excitedly asked, "Really? Then tell me, where did I give myself away just now?"
"I’m not telling you. If I tell you, you’ll correct it next time, and then it won’t be so easy for me to recognize you."
Emily Lopez immediately grabbed James’s arm, shook it energetically, and cooed, "Brother-in-law, please tell me."
James, unable to resist Emily Lopez’s coquettish behavior, said, "Isn’t it obvious? I’m always the one doing chores at home, and your sister never does anything. When I come back with groceries, she never comes to take them; you coming to take them right away gave it away."
Emily Lopez oh’ed, then pouted, "My sister really doesn’t know how to live, does she? Boyfriend comes home with groceries, which is such a tough job, and even if she doesn’t help, she should at least reward him a bit. Sigh... I really don’t know how you put up with my sister."
James tapped Emily Lopez’s head again, laughing, "Should you really be talking about your sister like that? If I get mad at her because of this, wouldn’t you be causing trouble?"
"Who let her behave poorly? Work is important, but so is love. Love is not just about taking; it also requires giving and effort. With the way she acts, if you got tired of her, I’d think she deserved it."
James was both amused and annoyed and said, "You little traitor, after all the care she has shown for you."
Emily Lopez pouted, "I know she cares, but it’s too much sometimes; always trying to control me, I can’t stand it, just like our mom."
"Sandra, what kind of nonsense are you on about now?" At that moment, Gina Lopez, dressed in pajamas and drying her hair with a large towel, stood in the kitchen doorway.
In order to show Sandra that she and James were really living together, Gina had come out dressed like that.
Emily Lopez cheekily smiled, "I wasn’t saying anything, just talking about how good my sister is to me."
Gina Lopez rolled her eyes, "Nobody believes you; it’s already good if you’re not bad-mouthing me."
"How could I? You’re my dear sister; bad-mouthing you would be like bad-mouthing myself!"
Gina Lopez gave her sister a glare and said, "Stop your nonsense and let your brother-in-law cook."
Emily Lopez giggled and followed Gina out, while James relaxed a bit. This time he really felt the pressure was enormous, especially since Emily was dressed just like her sister, clearly poised to give him a hard time.
After the meal was ready, Emily ate with great enthusiasm, and Gina also ate quite a bit.
"After eating, brother-in-law, your cooking is really delicious. I’ve decided not to leave. I’ll just stay here with you guys." After they finished eating, the three of them moved to the living room sofa to rest, with Emily lounging on a recliner, unabashedly rubbing her belly.
Gina immediately exclaimed, "No way, you can’t just live here all the time!"
Emily turned to face James and Gina, smiling coyly, "Come on, sis, don’t be so stingy. You can’t even let me stay? Would you really let your sister sleep on the streets?"
"You can stay for a few days, but if you’re planning to freeload indefinitely, that’s absolutely not okay." Gina firmly refused.
Emily, with a mischievous smile, said, "Sis, are you afraid I’ll spoil your little world for two?"
Gina nodded immediately, "You know it too, huh? Do you realize how inconvenient it would be with you here?"
Emily looked again at James and Gina, then suddenly burst into laughter, leaving Gina quite unnerved. "What are you laughing at?"
Trying to hold back her laughter, Emily teased, "I mean, sis, you and brother-in-law haven’t even done ’it’ yet. What kind of ’world for two’ is that? It’s more like you’re just roommates."
This embarrassed Gina profoundly, and she knew exactly what her sister was implying. She retorted both annoyed and embarrassed, "What nonsense are you spouting? What happens between me and your brother-in-law is none of your business!"
Emily laughed heartily, "Exactly! Since you’re already living together, and you haven’t even with brother-in-law—hey, hey, are you just torturing him on purpose?"
Furious and blushing, Gina snapped, "If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll throw you out right now."
Emily jumped up, "Fine, fine, I’ll shut up. I’m off to shower. Brother-in-law, hang in there, try to win my sister over soon."
"Just go to hell!" Gina roared, hurling a pillow at Emily.
Emily swiftly dodged into the bathroom and slammed the door shut just in time for the pillow to hit the glass door instead.
"Alright, alright, Emily was just joking with you. Why take it so seriously?" James picked up the pillow and winked at Gina.
Gina huffed, "That girl is getting increasingly out of line. If we don’t rein her in, she’ll completely defy us."
James spoke softly, "Emily is just a bit mischievous; she isn’t really problematic. Come on, don’t be angry. You’ve had a rough few days. Let me take care of Emily. You just do what you need to."
Their conversation was intended for Emily to overhear, though Gina was genuinely upset. As for her sister, she felt utterly helpless.
After traveling for an entire day, Emily was pretty tired, and after her shower, she slipped off to another room to sleep. Following his own shower, James had no choice but to go to Gina’s room.
James had stayed at Gina’s place several times, but this was the first time they would share a room here. Although they had shared a room before at Gina’s parents’ house, the atmosphere here gave James a distinctly more intimate vibe.
Currently, Gina was sitting on the bed with her laptop on her lap, brow furrowed. She didn’t even look up when James entered.
James didn’t disturb her but scanned the floor and opened the wardrobe, not finding any extra bedding.
Gina finally looked up and asked, "What are you looking for?"
"I’m looking for bedding," James replied softly.
Gina’s expression turned slightly awkward, "I don’t have any spare bedding left."
James, feeling somewhat helpless, said, "Boss Lopez, how could you not prepare any bedding? Are you expecting me to sleep on the floor?"
Gina, embarrassed, replied, "You... you can sleep on the bed as well."
James stared at Gina in disbelief, "Are you really asking me to share the bed with you?"
Gina glanced at James and said, "I’m asking for your help; I can’t just make you sleep on the floor. I trust you now, I know you won’t take advantage of me."
James smirked, "That’s not necessarily true. Men make mistakes, often impulsively and without warning."
Gina was momentarily shocked and appeared genuinely hesitant.
