Chapter 92: Weapon Sage

The moment Derek’s final thrust shattered the chains and his spear broke apart, four rogues dashed in from all sides. A fifth dropped from above, aiming straight for the monster’s head.

They didn’t wait. No hesitation.

All five struck at once.

But the monster wasn’t stunned. It reacted faster than any of them expected. Its four arms moved like a blur, swinging, parrying, deflecting each strike with such speed that the air around it spun into small hurricanes.

Clang! Slash! Whirl!

The forest floor shook as the force of their clash echoed through the trees. Barks and wood splinters flew everywhere. The impact from the weapons and the monster fist colliding created sparks and the residue energy chipped away the surrounding tree trunks slowly peeling it layer by layer.

Of the five rogues fighting the monsters one complained. "This is not just a peak gold monster this is more."

"Shut your mouth and attack harder."

The five rogues didn’t stop. They attacked again and again. Ten slashes turned to a hundred. A hundred became a thousand. Their swords moved so fast that sparks flew with every contact, filling the air with light and heat.

"Aahh! My hands. Damn it"

Their blades turned red, glowing from the sheer friction. Burning their hands.

Still, the monster stood tall. It blocked every blow. Sometimes with its arms. Sometimes with its talons. Sometimes just spinning fast enough to break their momentum.

Sweat poured down the rogues’ faces.

Their clothes fluttered wildly in the wind pressure made by the monster’s spinning arms.

But none of them backed down.

"Derek, are you done yet?" one of the rogues shouted in frustration.

They were trying to create an opening for Derek to strike again.

"Just a bit more and I’m done."

"You better hurry because my hands are giving away."

They were locked in an intense close combat with the monsters that the range damage dealer could not attack randomly fearing that it might hit their own teammates and a single mistake means death.

Derek raised his right hand, and in a flash of dark light, a new sword appeared in his grip. It was deep black, like the night sky, without stars. The air around it shifted.

Shadows poured from the blade, wrapping around Derek’s body like liquid. In seconds, they formed into a sleek armor, sharp and smooth, perfectly fitted to him. His eyes glowed faintly behind the shadow helm.

This was his true power.

[Weapon Sage] — an epic-rank combat class. One that pulled strength directly from the weapon he wielded. The stronger the weapon, the more powerful his form. And with the teachings passed down from his ancestors, Derek could use any weapon with mastery. Spear, blade, axe, none were foreign in his hands.

In front of him, the monster was still locked in a wild fight with the rogue team. They had regrouped quickly, their movements clean despite exhaustion. Blades clashed again and again with the monster’s arms.

Then suddenly it screeched.

A piercing, high-pitched cry rang out. Not just loud. It was sharp and it carried hundreds of the monster energy hidden within the screech.

The sound rippled through the forest, and in the next moment, all five rogues were blasted backward.

Boom!

They flew through the air, crashing into trees and tumbling across the ground. Their weapons dropped. Their arms looked raw, the skin of their forearms eaten away by the force of the high-frequency wave.

The sound had cut them like invisible blades.

Before they could hit the ground again, five flashes lit up the space behind them.

And they were teleported back to the relief camp. They got lucky as they were the first one to get seriously injured and the support team had been well prepared for the situation.

Five figures appeared, teleporters dashed between the injured teammates already prepared. They grabbed the injured rogues mid-air and vanished the next second, warping them out of the combat zone.

The battlefield fell silent for a moment.

Only the wind rustling through the tall trees.

And in that silence, Derek stepped forward, his black blade gleaming.

The real battle was now between him and the monster.

Back at the ruins.

The elephant-like monster stood amidst the ruins, its massive form towering above broken walls and shattered columns. Its skin was thick and unbroken, not a scratch in sight, even after being hit by a massive boulder and a powerful spell.

The team knew one thing and it was that they cannot use quantity to overwhelm this monster. Numbers alone weren’t enough. They needed a strong impact. Pure strength and pressure.

Sairi dashed forward without waiting. Her movement was clean, fast, yet graceful. The ruins blurred around her. She leapt into the air, summoned a colossal golden mace mid-flight, and slammed it straight into the monster’s face. It was an epic item, the. The item disappeared into light particles.

Her class was an auxiliary class where she could summon items from a dragon’s treasure trove but it’s limited to epic items and somewhere limited to uses and the golden mace she just used was an epic rank item which she could summon only once a day. It was a one time use item. but still it was enough and still broken in its own way.

The hit echoed like thunder. The monster staggered back several steps before falling to the ground with a loud thud that sent dust flying. Everyone watching froze in shock. An epic-rank awakener had landed a perfect hit... but the monster didn’t fly back.

It fell. Slowly. As if in control. Like it allowed itself to fall.

The monster grimaced at the impact and looked at Sairi with eyes full of hatred.

That was no normal beast.

Then came a loud, unfiltered laugh.

"Hahaha! A high-quality punching bag! I like this one!" a rogue shouted.

His body suddenly twisted unnaturally. His legs bulged like balloons while the rest of him stayed lean.

"What’s going on, why are you suddenly inflating?"

"Watch me, I’ll show you something interesting."
