Chapter 179: Possession, Revival Through Hatred

On the first day of the Apocalypse...

Chris was continuously looking at the ceiling of the room that he was in, his eyes completely empty. At this moment, after being tortured by Olivia for a very long time, he had already lost hope in life.

The group that he was facing was strong, and neither was he capable of facing them. Additionally, even his own trump card, something that he had been keeping as a secret from the eyes of the investors, was also completely useless in the face of this group.

They were strong, he had put in a lot of efforts and resources in order to nurture them. But now, not only had they failed in taking care of this group of children, but, they had also been destroyed.

Chris could feel that his life was depleting. He had already lost a lot of blood, and his consciousness was also about to go out. The only reason why he was still awake was simply because of the torture that Olivia had put him through.

Additionally, although he was feeling pain through his entire body, the majority of the pain was numbed. After all, after having his skin peeled off while he was alive, and then undergoing several other tortures, he seemed to have already gotten used to the pain.

But, the main reason why he was not crying or screaming anymore was simply because he was not thinking. He was ignoring everything that his body was undergoing currently. His mind was currently blank, and although he was looking at the ceiling, he could not even see it.

At this point, Olivia and the group had already left the facility. They had already arrived at the port, and were preparing themselves to leave the island. As for Chris, he seemed to be the only living creature that was left in the entire island.

Just then, footsteps could be heard coming from outside the door. The footsteps were heavy, telling someone that whoever or whatever creature that was approaching was quite heavy.

Then after a while, the footsteps finally arrived in front of the entrance of the room where Chris was in. The creature was revealed to be a bear.

Unlike the other monsters that had attacked the territory, the eyes of this bear possessed some kind of intelligence and wisdom, just like that of a human.

"This human, I think I can take him over. Although he is about to die, as long as I do everything correctly, I should be able to live. I never expected that the apocalypse was going to descend at such a time. Nevertheless, after I reach in an area where there is a large population, I should be able to possess another body." The voice of an old and experienced man suddenly came from the bear’s mouth.

After a moment, the bear took a step forward and arrived in front of Chris. The bear looked at Chris, and realized that this guy had already lost his spirit, and he was not even alive, although his body was living.

"That is going to be easy for me to be able to possess this body now. Had it been a sane human, with the current strength that I have recovered, I would have definitely failed in possessing them. That was why I had no choice but to possess a monster." The bear stated as it raised its paws, looking at them with disgust in its eyes.

After a few seconds, the bear shifted its gaze from its paws, onto Chris. In the next moment, the right paw of the bear landed on Chris’s chest.

Currently, the bear was touching the muscles and the tendons that were connecting the muscles directly. So, despite the fact that Chris was no longer possessing his spirit, his body twitched a little.

A few seconds after the bear touched Chris, a purple light suddenly began coming from the paw. Then in the next moment, the intensity of the purple light increased and enveloped the entire room.

At the same time as this was happening, a white light suddenly came from the bear’s paw, and sank directly into Chris’s chest.

The moment that this happened, the bear fell onto the ground, it’s body no longer possessing life. As for the purple light that was surrounding the entire room, it began shrinking, then finally, it surrounded Chris’s body.

And after a while, Chris’s eyes that had lost spirit finally regained some light into them. In the next moment, Chris’s body twitched, before he finally recovered to his previous condition, before he was tortured by Olivia.

"I never expected that I was going to spend a lot of energy in order to just recover. I will need some mutation crystals in order to be able to recover the energy that I have utilized." Chris stated. It was just that, this time, it was not the same voice that Chris possessed, but instead, it was as if it was another person completely.

It was not just in terms of voice, but, even the personality had changed completely. After looking around for a while, the one that was possessing Chris’s body finally found some clothes.

Of course, he simply took the clothes that another person was wearing before putting them on. After that, he left the facility, trying to see if he was going to be able to get a creature that he was going to kill, in order to be able to recover the energy that he had spent.

Just after exiting the facility entrance, Chris saw that there was a body of a creature that was lying in front of him. He approached it, and he was surprised to that there was still a mutation crystal inside.

"It seems that this time I’m in great luck. There are actually two mutation crystals present inside this body." After saying that, Chris bent down and using his hands, he managed to open a hole in the two heads of the creature, pulling out two mutation crystals.

Then without caring about the blood that was staining his hands, he stuffed the two mutation crystals into his mouth, before crushing them with his teeth as he ate them.

After swallowing them, he felt that the energy his body had increased. Flexing his hands, he sighed and said, "Although I have not managed to recover all the energy that I spent in healing this body, but, it is just enough for me to be able to deal with a few more creatures.

After that, I will have to level up this body. With that out of the way, it should not be difficult for me to be able to acquire a body of a person that possesses a good profession. In that way, I should be able to get a good standing in this apocalypse."

After saying that, he looked around for a moment, wondering where he was supposed to go next. Then, he looked in a certain direction before his eyes narrowed with excitement.

"I never expected that there was going to be actually a group of good seedlings for me to be able to possess. You just wait for me, I will be there. It’s just that these stupid memories are fusing slowly." Chris stated excitedly before he frowned in displeasure.

After looking around, he spotted a vehicle. He went ahead and looked for one that was not locked. After confirming that there was a key inside, he entered and began driving towards the port.

Since he had just possessed the body, he was having some trouble when it came to driving. But, it was not that much difficult for him to drive. So, at a speed of about 90 km/h, the car rushed towards the port.

Finally, he arrived at the port. From a distance, he could see that there was a group of four youths that was moving around as if they were looking for something.

"Hehe. That one is quite special. I should be able to possess him." Chris chuckled as he looked at Henry from a distance. He was just about to step out of the vehicle when suddenly, his head began aching.

"What the heck! You are actually trying to resist after I have already possessed your body? Who do you think you are?" Chris began shouting angrily as his eyes momentarily turned red.

It turned out that the original owner of the body had finally began resisting. Since the guy who had come over to possess Chris’s body thought that Chris had already lost his spirit, he did not even waste his time trying to get rid of Chris’s soul.

But, it turned out that the moment that Olivia’s group came into view, Chris’s original soul began reacting to that. It was actually fighting to be able to regain control over the body.

Due to this unexpected resistance, the soul that was possessing the body was finding it difficult to be able to contain Chris’s original soul. For that reason, he was experiencing a headache.

"I want...to kill them...all! I have to...kill them all! I want...to kill...them...ALL!" At this point, Chris finally began speaking as he looked in the direction of Henry’s group with killing intent and madness in his eyes.

But, this happened for a few second before clarity returned into the eyes. But, there was both horror and fury inside the current eyes.

"Are you trying to tell me that the great me is going to die here? You must be joking! I died before, I made a preparation so that I could be revived at this time. Now you’re telling me that I’m going to be killed by a weak soul?" Chris roared in anger.

There was a lot of struggle that could be seen on his face. After all, currently, there was a battle going on within the body between two souls that were fighting for domination and control of the body.

But, it seemed that the soul that had taken over the body had underestimated Chris’s determination to take care of Henry and his group. And so, in no time, it was overwhelmed, and it seemed that it was going to be destroyed.

"Since you are pushing me this far, then, you will have to pay the price for this. I no longer care about my plans, I’m going to activate it right now." The other soul that was trying to dominate Chris’s original soul stated angrily.
