Chapter 53: Chapter 53

TESSA POV

I was in hospital for three days in that pack before I was finally stable enough to leave and Cade drove us home while Tyler sat in the backseat with me. It felt good to be showered and in clean clothes again.

It took three hours to drive back home from there and when we got there I was surprised by all my friends at the house waiting with a surprise party. I still wasn’t at 100% but I was so glad that my friends were there for me. Even Ethan, Kaylee, Wyatt, Tobias and Taylor were there.

Ethan was manning the barbeque outside and Aria and Bella were making the salads and Naomi and Ruby were setting up the snack tables.

"This looks awesome. Thank you so much for this guys." I tell them all.

"We will be joining you all shortly. We’re just gonna see Mr. Missy after the long journey." Tyler says.

"I’m fine Tyler. I just sat in the car." I say.

"This is not negotiable. You are seeing the Doc on a regular basis. Weather you like it or not. We’re not taking any chances." He says.

"This is what I have to look forward to for the next 10 weeks ladies and gentlemen." I say and they all started laughing.

Dr. Missy came to the house and we went up to the bedroom and Angelo came upstairs with us to make sure that everything was alright. He hadn’t really left my side since I came home either. He was being really overprotective.

Dr. Missy told them that everything was good. The baby has a good heartbeat and motion right now and my blood pressure and everything seems great. She will see us tomorrow.

So we were able to go downstairs to join the party and I was surprised when there was someone else who had just arrived at the party.

"Sawyer." I say shocked.

"Hi Tessa. Wow, you look great." He says.

"Thanks. I’m surprised to see you here." I say.

"Well, a couple warriors took Sawyer back to the mansion that night and found his friends locked in the basement. They had been beaten and tortured and they were all humans. It was so Sawyer would do what Katherine wanted. We know that she was forcing him to help her. And we believe that he was there to help you." Tyler explained.

"He did help me. He never hurt me while I was there. He was the one that made sure I got fed and always changed my dressings on my wounds. He was kind to me." I say.

"Well, I guess that makes him family in our books." Angelo pipes up and we all looked at him weird. " He took care of my baby girl when she needed someone. He is family." Angelo insisted.

No one was expecting that from him and I put my arm around Angelo’s waist and leaned in to him and he kissed the top of my head.

"I can’t believe I have turned you into such a softie." I teased.

"I know. It’s weird seeing him like this." Elias says.

"Come on. Is the food ready yet. I’m starving. That hospital food was horrible. And Tyler could only sneak in so much." I say. So we all headed outside and I was walking around mingling with people until I started getting tired from walking around. So I sat at the table and Tyler was on one side of me and Angelo was on the other side of me.

Sawyer ended up sitting at the table too with a girl that looked like she had been put through the ringer.

"Tessa. This is my girlfriend Ebony." He introduced.

"You’re one of the human’s in the basement." I say.

"That’s right." She says.

"I am so sorry for what happened to you. That must have been horrible." I say.

"Don’t worry about me. At least no one tried to steal my baby." She says.

"Yeah. I guess so. But what happened to you can’t be taken lightly. How long were you down there?" I asked.

"About a month." She says. And I close my eyes shaking my head.

"That’s horrible." I say.

"Hey, your mate killed the bitch and got us out of there. So we’re good, thank to you guys." Ebony says.

"Well, I’m glad that you’re alright. And you two are welcome here any time. If you guys need anything, then we’re here. Our pack is here." I say.

"Yeah. If they can get past the fact that we’ve now got an alliance with vampires." Carter says walking past.

"They can get over it. I’m half vampire." I tell him. And I was deadly serious and Tyler agreed with me. They can just get over it. I wasn’t going to toss out vampires if they had good intentions, especially because I was half vampire. That would be a little hypocritical of me.

"Tyler. Phones for you." Cade sang out.

"I’ll call them back." Tyler says.

"It’s the werewolf council." Cade says.

"Shit. Alright, I’ll be right back." Tyler says kissing the side of my head and taking the phone inside so that I couldn’t hear him.

"Cade." I say as he tried to walk away without me noticing.

"Yes Luna." He says.

"What’s going on?" I asked.

"I’m sure Tyler will explain everything." He says.

"Don’t make me command you." I threatened.

"There was a supernatural battle that happened in a human town. The werewolf council isn’t happy about it." Cade says.

"That’s my fault. I called Tyler and told him where I was. He came there to get me." I say.

"Well, yeah. But that doesn’t change what happened. They are pretty pissed." Cade says. So I got up and I went inside where Tyler was on the phone.

He was tensing up at the phone call and I could feel it and he saw me standing there and I tell him to put it on speaker phone.

"This is Tessa Peterson. Luna of the Blue Moon pack." I introduced myself.

"We know who you are." The man says.

"I was kidnapped and kept in a mansion in that town. The reason why the whole fight happened was because I escaped my kidnapper who was a vampire and she chased me into that town. Tyler did nothing but protect me and his unborn child. Tyler cannot be blamed for what happened. He saw them attacking me in the middle of town. He did what any mate would have done." I explained.

"We are aware of the facts Luna." The man says.

"Then why is this an issue? He should be congratulated for ridding the world of that rancid vampire." I declare.

"We’re not debating that. Katherine was definitely a pain in our asses. But they were almost caught during the cleanup." He says.

"Almost. Which means that they weren’t. It was a close call. I’m sure it’s not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last time. I think you need to communicate with the vampire council and see what they have to say. Because they are the ones that have rogue vampires going around kidnapping pregnant werewolves. Your job should be to protect people like me, not prosecute their mates for saving them." I explained. And he was silent for a moment.

"We never considered calling the vampire council." He says.

"I know that werewolves and vampires don’t get along. But I’m at a party right now where all of them are getting along with each other. I am half vampire. My father is a vampire and he is here with me and my werewolf family. I am not choosing sides. I refuse to and I know my rights. You can’t force me to. Maybe you should reach out to the vampire council and see what happens. It might turn out for better for all involved." I explain. And Tyler was looking at me in amusement.

"You’ve given us a lot to think about Luna. Thank you. Tyler, we will be in touch." The man says.

"Yes, sir." Tyler says and he hangs up the phone. He stood there staring at me in shock for a moment before he grabbed me in a bear hug and wouldn’t let go.

"Really?" I asked as he kissed me.

"I have never seen anyone deal with the werewolf council like that before. I might actually be able to beat these charges." He says.

"What charges? Cade just told me that they were pissed." I yelled.

"Damn. I thought he told you more. They are trying to charge me with risking the werewolf secrecy." Tyler says.

"Those are serious fucking charges. Punishable by death. Why the fuck wouldn’t you tell me that?" I asked.

"You know why. Not with the way you are at the moment. But tonight you have just given them something to think about and that is definitely something to celebrate. Because no one ever changes their mind or make them think like you just did." Tyler says. And he pulls me back outside to the table where I was sitting earlier.

"Is everything alright?" Cade asked.

"Yeah. Tessa actually calmed them down. I might beat these charges without going in front of the council themselves." Tyler explained.

"That’s fucking amazing." Cade says.

"We can hope. They aren’t taking him away from me. Not now." I say.

"Well, we’re all behind you Tyler. And we all stand behind your decision to attack when you did. We were all there and we knew that you didn’t have a choice. They were about to get Tessa." Ethan explained.

"I need to thank all of you. I didn’t realize until I woke up in the hospital that Tyler had you guys out in the woods searching for me for two weeks. That none of you came home until you found me." I say.

" ]Don’t apologize Luna. That’s what we’re here for." Someone behind me said. And I turned to see Ben, Heath, Kai and Cooper had just arrived at the party. And I took a deep breath seeing them. Knowing that they were in the search party, I couldn’t really ignore them any longer.
