The Shadow of a Luna
Chapter 43 - 46

Chapter 43: Chapter 46

TYLER POV

After a few hours of sleep that day I got up and headed to the kitchen to get something to eat. We had another meeting with Ryan and his head warrior. We were going over tactics and I promised them again that I wasn’t leaving until we were sure that the Rogue attacks were over. But I didn’t know exactly how long I would be able to stay.

Tessa sounded weird on the phone this morning. Almost desperate. And she never sounds like that. But she accepted my alternative to have guards posted around the packhouse. That did sound like her. She would always accept an alternative instead of demanding that I come home and drop my responsibilities to someone else. She wasn’t like that.

It was playing on my mind all afternoon so I gave her another quick call before I went back out on patrol. She assured me that she got some rest during the day. But it was easier because everyone was awake and since I had called Carter, he made sure that there was always someone checking in on her. I know that Bella and Aria probably would have climbed into bed with her to watch TV while she slept.

I loved having Bella there as Cade’s mate. Tessa’s best friend who knows her better than anyone else and knows exactly how to calm her down when I’m not there. They are so suited for each other that if I wasn’t mated to Tessa, I’m pretty sure Bella would be. Alright, I need to stop thinking like that before I get too excited.

After I got off the phone with Tessa I felt more at ease because she sounded more calm and relaxed and then I was able to shift and head out on patrol.

It wasn’t until about midnight that we got the howling call of the attack on the northern boarder. We ran there with everything that we had and two warriors were holding one Rogue. But he was in human form. And I needed to shift in order to communicate with them and the was just grinning like a stupid lunatic.

"What is this?" I asked.

"He was alone. Apparently, he has a message for you." The warrior said. And they handed me another photo. I looked at it, but this time it was a photo of Tessa taken sitting outside the packhouse reading a book with her hand on her stomach. She was alone outside the packhouse.

"There’s a note on the back." The other warrior says so I turn it over.

Poor dumb werewolves. So predictable. You run to help others in need and you leave behind the ones that really need your help. You took the person I loved and now I took the person you love. So sorry.

"Tessa." I said almost in a panic. I shifted immediately and I ran with all my Alpha might straight back to my territory. I could feel Cade and Parker following closely behind but they couldn’t keep up.

When I reached my pack in record time I shifted back and ran past a tree and grabbed some short out of it and put them on as I was still running to the house. There was commotion everywhere and I ran around the side of the house to see Carter, Bella and Aria standing there.

Bella was crying and Carter was yelling at the guards and patrols that were on duty tonight. But everyone stopped when they saw me standing there breathing heavily and my body so tense that one wrong word would make me kill someone. Carter took a deep breath and swallowed hard before he took a couple of steps towards me.

"She’s gone." Carter says plainly and very scared.

"How the fuck does a group of Rogues get in here without you knowing?" I screamed at them.

"They weren’t Rogues. They were vampires." Carter says and I growl. My Alpha aura spewing from me in waves and everyone dropped to their knees in pain before I realized that I was even doing it. But when I did realize that I was doing it, I didn’t care. They were meant to be protecting her and they didn’t.

"Carter. Stand." I demand. So he slowly and painfully stood up and bared his neck to me.

"How the fuck did they take her?" I growled as calmly as I possibly could, which wasn’t very calm at all.

"We don’t know how they got threw. They found a break in our defenses or something. They are vampires. They move faster than a bullet and they don’t leave a scent. They barely make a sound. And there was more than one." Carter gritted out in pain.

"Security footage. Pull it up now. Every frame you have of these vampires. I want to see who they are." I demand before I stomp inside and I walk into my office and I slam the door so hard that the solid oak cracked down the middle.

I grabbed the phone and dialed a number immediately.

"Hello." A man answered.

"Angelo. Vampires just kidnapped Tessa. It has something to do with Josiah." I say.

"We’re on our way." Angelo say and he hung up.

TESSA POV

Going to bed that night was the same as the night before. I was restless. I knew that something bad was coming. I knew that something bad was going to happen. But I rolled over and tried to close my eyes and tell myself that it was probably just pregnancy anxiety. I didn’t know what else to make of it. But then I heard a whooshing sound behind me.

I looked over my shoulder and a man was standing just inside my window. And I jumped up into a sitting position. He bared his fangs to me.

"You are just as beautiful as I was told that you were." He said.

"Who the fuck are you?" I asked. And then a second man jumped through the window at lightening speed, followed by a third.

I went to raise my hand and shove them back out the window when one raise a gun and shot me in the arm with a silver bullet.

I screamed at the pain. The silver burning my skin. It went straight through but the silver still affected me. It was something that wolves would always scare from and if it was bad enough, obviously it would kill them. I knew that this wound wouldn’t kill me, but it hurt like a motherfucker.

I grabbed that arm and blood was spilling out over my fingers that was holding the wound when another one held up a dart gun. He shot a dart into my neck but I quickly removed it and immediately I could smell wolfsbane. And then the third man held up another gun and shot that at me. But I didn’t recognize that smell. I actually pulled the dart to my nose to smell it.

"Vervain. It will keep your vampire side in check as well." The first man declared. My vision started getting really blurry and dots were appearing in front of my eyes when I heard people downstairs running up towards my room.

Noises were getting muffled and I could feel one of them pick me up. I didn’t loose consciousness but I was really out of it at that point. I saw the door slam open and Carter was standing there but the vampire was holding me in his arms. I was bleeding, I was dioriented and he held the gun at my head forcing Carter to get back.

They were forced all the way down to the foyer and they were met with guards, warriors and Bella and Aria.

The three vampires walked out the front door with me while the others were very close behind them and a women appeared out of nowhere.

"Katherine." The man holding me said. And Katherine walked straight up to me and took the gun off the other vampire.

"Get back or I will kill her." Katherine threatened.

"If you wanted her dead then she would be already." Carter gritted through his teeth. So Katherine pointed the gun to my left shoulder and pulled the trigger causing me to scream out in pain.

"What were you saying?" Katherine asked.

"Alright? We’re backing up." Carter says.

"Let’s get the hell out of here. We have what we came for. Tell Angelo that I said hello." Katherine says as they all disappeared at lightening speed into the wind.

"Follow them." Carter demanded of the warriors and they took off running into the woods to follow them.

I could hear them following behind but they were too late. There was a car waiting by the road and they got me inside it and sped away. I didn’t know how fast they were going but it felt fast. And I was pretty out of it.

"I don’t want the bitch to die yet. Try and stop the bleeding on her shoulder." Katherine demanded. So one of the vampires grabbed a first aid kit and started putting gauze on my shoulder wound. Front and back.

"Why did you shoot her in the shoulder then?" He asked.

"I needed to make a point. And I did. She’ll get better care back at the mansion." Katherine says calmly in the passenger seat like she was bored already with the drive.

I don’t even know how long we were driving for but it was a really long time. At least a couple of hours before we got to the mansion and I was pulled from the car and carried inside.

I was a little more lucid now and when we walked in I could see Rogues everywhere outside the mansion but inside were vampires. They were everywhere. And I knew that I was in real trouble here.

I was taken upstairs to a room and dumped on the bed and shackled with silver chains around my ankle that was tied to the bed.

I was too weak to try and fight against it, no matter how much I tried to. I knew that there was no point. But I laid on the bed holding my hand over my forearm that they shot but luckily the bleeding had stopped.

"What does she want with me?" I asked the man just after he finished shackling me.

"Your baby. What else?" He asked and walked out of the room.
