Chapter 37: Chapter 37

When Tyler got down on his knee in front of everyone I gasped and I was the only one. Which means that this was a surprise that I didn’t see coming. They really had me fooled there.

"Tessa. I knew that you knew all about the party. You’ve been expecting it all day. That was the only way to get past you on this surprise. Ever since I met you, I knew that you were the one that I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I promise that I will make you happy for the rest of your life. No matter what happens we will be there together and we will fight anything that comes at us together. You are my one and only and you always will be. I love you more than life itself. I will be by your side forever. Will you do me the huge honor of being my wife?" He promised to me with all of his heart. My heart was definitely speeding up and I knew that everyone could hear it. But I didn’t care. He opened the ring box to show a white gold wolf’s head ring in it and a large princess cut diamond ring in the wolf’s mouth. I had to hold back a couple of the sniffles while I was looking at him and Bella was giggling behind me.

"Yes." I finally answered. And Tyler let out the breath that he had obviously been holding and he took the ring out of the box and slipped it on my finger. Then he stood up and kissed me and lifted me off my feet and straightened up while he kissed me and everyone else cheered.

When he finally let me down the girls wanted to see the ring and they were all gob smacked.

"How long have you been planning this? You would have had to have that thing made." Aria says.

"I’ve been planning for a while." Tyler says.

"You dick. You couldn’t even tell me? You’re own cousin." She says. And I laugh at Aria.

"You would have told her for sure." Tyler says.

"Would you two shut up. You are ruining the best birthday I have ever had." I say.

"Well, I have to say something." Elias says standing up. " I only met Tessa a few days ago and fell in love with her straight away. And I wasn’t sure about Tyler because he’s a wolf and we all know how vampire and wolves are together. But I have to say, that he won me over pretty quickly. Seeing how protective he is of our niece. I know that Tessa couldn’t be in better hands than Tyler." Elias says.

"Oh my god. I just realized. We’re gonna have to have the wedding at nighttime." I say.

"Oh shit. It will be. You guys have to let us know where you are at all times so we know where to send the invitations." Tyler tells my aunt’s and uncle’s.

"Definitely. we wouldn’t miss it for anything." Ruby says.

"Can we bring dates?" Naomi asked.

"Just as long as they don’t try to eat the guests." Wyatt joked with her. And we laughed at him.

"I promise they will be on their best behavior." She says.

"So, I’m guessing that’s who you’ve been on the phone to all the time." I say.

"Maybe." She says.

"Why isn’t he here too?" I asked.

"Because I told him that it was a family matter. And he hates Angelo." She says.

"Gotcha." I say completely understanding.

"I’m going to really start taking offense to those remarks." Angelo says.

"Good. You’re supposed to." Naomi says. And I noticed that Angelo hadn’t come over to me yet. So I walked over to where he was away from the crowd.

"Well, everyone else said congratulations." I say. But he looked down at his shoes.

"I do like Tyler. And I know that he will never let anything happen to you. Even though you will probably be the one protecting him most of the time." Angelo scoffs.

"He’s not stealing me away. You’re welcome at our pack whenever you want. And if you want to see us, then call and tell us where you are at the time and we’ll come and see you. If it’s the right time. If people are attacking our pack then no, we won’t be able to make it then. But otherwise, we will be there. The only thing that will stop us is if people are trying to kill us." I explain and he looked up and smiled. Tyler was standing back where he was but with vampire and werewolf hearing, I knew that everyone could hear us.

"I am happy for you. Really happy." He says.

"You know, you are my father. So you have to be at the wedding. Because I don’t have anyone else to give me away." I say. And the smile got even larger on his face.

"I can definitely do that. I will be there." He says hugging me.

’That was really good of you. Especially after what he did.’ Tyler mind linked me.

’He is my father.’ I replied.

"Come on. Let’s get into the party spirit." I say loudly and everyone else cheered and agreed totally.

So the band started up again and we cracked open a few bottles of champagne and started toasting each other and everyone toasted Tyler and myself on the engagement.

After a couple glasses of champagne Tyler grabbed me by the hand and dragged me to the middle of the courtyard and started spinning me around the little dancefloor that we just created. And I saw Bella off to the side taking photos.

"It’s never too early to start a book. And these photos are beautiful." She says.

"She’s gonna take some getting used to." Tyler says.

"Well, she’s your Beta’s mate. So, you’re gonna have to get used to it." I say. _{fre eweb\(n)ovel(.)co(m)}

"She was quieter when we left." He scoffed.

"She’s coming out of her shell. Which is a good thing. She can be a lot of fun." I say.

"I love you baby." He whispered in my ear.

"I love you too." I whispered back. " I can’t believe you did this." I say shaking my head.

"Yeah. The party was the only way I could distract you. Otherwise, you would have known that I was going to propose. I needed you to know that something was going on." He says.

"Yeah. Well, you did good." I say. And he leaned down and kissed me.

I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I didn’t know that it was possible for someone to be this happy. I just couldn’t help it. I was this happy and everyone could see that I was happy. It was surreal to me. Not something I was used to.

I used to keep my emotions bottled up and closed away from everyone. But with Tyler, I just wasn’t able to do that. He bought them to the surface and all emotions showed when I was around him.

Other couples started dancing too and it seemed like a really grown-up mature party. But trust Aria to not let that last. It turned into an 18th birthday party very quickly once she bought out a tray of jello shots and a lot of spirits.

I started laughing and Tyler and I just shrugged our shoulders at each other. We weren’t surprised. At all. It was exactly something that she would do.

So we started with the jello shots and that’s when the band started getting a little louder. Like it was an 18th birthday party.

Aria and Bella were definitely the first ones to get drunk and their mates needed to keep an eye on them while still having a good time themselves. But they were hilarious to watch.

Aria pulled Carter onto the dance floor but it was more like a lap dance then them actually dancing and we were cheering them on and making a lot of noise for them.

"I cannot believe that I am related to that woman." Tyler says.

"You would totally miss her if she was gone." I say as I was sitting on his lap.

"I don’t think so." He says scrunching up his face.

"You are so mean. She’s awesome. And be nice. She’s one of my bridesmaids." I say.

"Oh god, help us now." Tyler says and the guys started laughing at him.

"Anyone else?" Bella asked loudly.

"Did you really just ask me that. You go without saying. I don’t even need to ask you. You should just know that you’re a bridesmaid." I say.

"Good. Thank you." She says.

"No worries." I say.

"Watch out mate. They’re already planning the wedding. You definitely can’t get out of it now." Cade says. And Bella hit his chest.

"Yes he can. If I smother him in his sleep." I say.

"No. We have to be married for you to inherit everything." Tyler says.

"Oh yeah. I guess you are going through with the wedding." I say and he playfully scowls at me and he tips me back which makes me squeal before he kisses me.

When I started getting a little more on the drunk side we were well into the night and I was up dancing with the girls and the guys were sitting around drinking whiskey and bourbon. They were getting drunk and watching us laughing and carrying on. But it was a hell of a lot of fun.

People started heading to bed and the vampires definitely started going to bed just before dawn. And I was standing in the courtyard watching the sun come up. And Tyler walked up behind me and put his arms around my waist from behind.

"Did you have a great birthday?" He asked.

"The best one ever." I say. And he smiled and kissed the side of my face.

"It’s beautiful here, isn’t it? The sunrise." I say.

"Oh god. Don’t tell me that after all this you actually want to stay." He says.

"No. I don’t want to stay. I can’t wait to get home. But I like the weather here. It’s not cold. And I love the sunrise." I say. And he started laughing.

"You didn’t yesterday morning." He says and I started laughing again.

"Yeah. But that was for totally other reasons." I say.

"Bullshit. You’re never awake at sunrise." He says.

"Would you shut up and just let me enjoy this moment?" I snapped kiddingly.

"Sorry." He says. But then I noticed something in the bars of the gate that lead into the courtyard. So I walked over and I pulled it out. It was an envelope.

I opened it and it was a photo of Tyler proposing to me the night before. So I turned it over.

’Congratulations. Too bad you will never see the actual day.’

"He was here." I say showing the photo to Tyler.

"Holy shit. He was watching us and none of us knew that he was here." Tyler says.
