The Shadow of a Luna -
Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Chapter 29
The following morning we came downstairs to a completely full breakfast already prepared by that witch that Angelo hired to cook for us. And we sat down to eat almost all of it. And I saw Mitchell walk through the dining room, avoiding the sunlight as he was headed to the basement.
"How’s the neck?" I asked and Tyler chocked on his coffee.
"Fuck you." Mitchell says as he kept walking and I smirked at Tyler.
"Why do you need to do that?" Tyler asked.
"Because it’s fun." I say. Then Gladys walked into the room.
"You’re up and eating. That’s great to see. We have a lot of work to do today." She says.
"I know. Do you want some breakfast?" I asked.
"No thanks. I’ve already eaten." She says.
"We’re gonna have to break up our training hours though. Angelo says that he wants to be there for some of it too." She says.
"That doesn’t surprise me. So, how do you and Angelo know each other?" I asked as she sat at the table.
"He saved my life. Which I didn’t understand at the time. Until he told me that I then owed him a favor." She says.
"Is this the favor?" I asked pouring myself another coffee.
"Yes. It is." She says. And it got me wondering why he would use that kind of favour for me. That was a little weird. But he obviously wanted me to have it.
"Has he ever showed compassion, true compassion, for anyone?" I asked.
"Only you. That’s as far as I’ve seen. But there have been rumours about a women up North about 15 years ago or so." She explained.
"That would have been my mother. Apparently he was pretty sweet on her. Which was completely out of character." I say.
"Yeah. It is out of character for him." She says.
Once we finished eating breakfast Gladys and I walked out to the courtyard and Tyler sat off to the side to watch for a bit. We sat on the ground in the middle of the courtyard and she had a spell book in front of her.
"Alright. This one is easy. You need to focus your energy into your hands and then start to raise them above your head. Make sure you concentrate and keep your energy in your hands and nowhere else." She explained.
So I took a deep breath and I raised my hands to my waist and I focused all my energy to my hands and I slowly started raising them higher and higher until they were over my head.
I didn’t feel any different and I was looking at Gladys so I didn’t think I was actually doing anything until Tyler stood up.
"That is so cool." Tyler says. So I looked around and all the leaves in the courtyard and floating stationary in the air.
"Holy shit." I say.
"Alright. Now slightly move your hands to the right." She says. So I concentrate back on my hands and slightly move them to the left and the leaves started moving slowly to the right. But then they started getting faster and faster and I knew that I was loosing control of them. That was a little harder to do. So I dropped the concentration from the hands and took the power away from my hands and they all dropped to the ground.
"Sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen." I say.
"That’s alright. You did perfect. You stopped them all on your own. I didn’t have to tell you how to do that. That was perfect. And you realized when you were loosing control. That’s what is most important." She explained. " Now, let’s do that again." She says.
We kept working at it for a couple of hours before Gladys had other things to do. I couldn’t expect her to put her life on hold to help me. So she left and Tyler and I went for another walk around the city. Angelo was still asleep in the basement so he wouldn’t know. And we were definitley on high alert.
When we got back to the mansion it was before sunset and we saw the witch in the kitchen making dinner.
"Do you want some help in here? I hate that Angelo actually bought you in here to cook for just us two." I tell her.
"No. I’m fine. I love cooking and he’s paying me well." She says.
"Alright. Well, thank you for all this. The breakfast this morning was delicious." I say.
"I’m glad you liked it." She says.
"By the way, I’m Tessa and this is Tyler." I say.
"I’m Elsie." She says.
"Well, it’s nice to meet you." I say.
When I walk back into the living room Tyler was just getting off the phone and he didn’t look too happy.
"What’s going on? Problems back at the pack?" I asked.
"Yeah. Adam thinks that since I’m not there then he’s in charge." Tyler says.
"Adam is in charge of sewerage. How the hell could he think that automatically makes him the acting Alpha?" I asked.
"I don’t know. But I just had to let him know exactly where his place is in the pack. At the lowest of the rank." Tyler says.
After dinner Gladys came back and by then Angelo was awake and so were the other vampires that lived at the mansion, including Mitchell. And Gladys and I sat in the middle of the courtyard again working. But I noticed Tyler put a target up on the wall and he had a bow and arrow set.
"Where did you get those from?" I asked.
"I bought them today when you weren’t looking." He says.
"Do you know how to use those?" I asked.
"Nope. This is what I’m going to practice." He says.
"Okay. Good luck." I say. And I started concentrating on what I needed to do with Gladys.
"Alright. This time I am going to get you to lift this heavy spell book with your mind. It’s a lot more than leaves. There’s a lot more weight to it and you need to really concentrate." Gladys explained.
So I sat there staring at this spell book. It was a few hundred pages thick and I actually picked it up myself so that I could get a feel for how heavy it was. I then put it back down and I started focusing on the book and nothing else. There were people talking around me, a little heckling because those vampires were assholes, but I blocked them all out.
I concentrated on the book and nothing else and focused all my energy on the one thing and slowly I saw it raise from the ground. It was only moving slowly. A little bit at a time and I only got it a few inches off the ground at first before I dropped it. Some of the vampires laughed at me and I was getting pissed off with them.
I raised my hand in their direction and I didn’t care what happened. I let my emotions take over and a lightening bolt came out of my hand and they all needed to run out of the way when I did that.
"Shut the fuck up or I’ll trust you to dust." I warned them. And I heard Tyler chuckling in the background.
I went back to concentrating on the book and it was using a lot of energy and I was starting to get a headache. But I finally got the book off the ground and I managed to lift it up to my head height while I was sitting on the ground before I gently placed it back down.
"That was a lot harder than I thought." I say.
"Yeah. Do you need a break?" She asked.
"I need headache pills." I say. And I turned to see Tyler trying to shoot that bow and arrow and he wasn’t getting it anywhere near the target or completely screwing up altogether. f .r e\ewebnov(e)(l).c om
"Alright. This is even more painful to watch." I say standing up. I walked over to Tyler and took the bow and arrow off of him. " Watch my stand. And my arms. You need to keep a tight grip on the front and back. Especially the front because it doesn’t move. The back one does." I explain while doing the motions to show him exactly what I was doing. " You line it up with your eye and make sure that the target is in line and be very careful not to move either hand when you’ve lined up your target." I continue and I let go of the bow and it hit the bullseye.
"You make it look easy." Tyler says.
"I’ve had a lot more practice then you. Now, with the throwing knives." I say picking up one of the knives. " Always make sure that you hold it by the blade and you line the target up with your eye again and then it’s all in the wrist. You throw with force from the wrist and hand." I explain throwing the knife and also hitting the bullseye.
"Again, you make it look too easy." Tyler says.
"And again, it took years of practice to get that good." I say.
"Alright. I’m gonna keep going with it." He says. Then my phone started ringing and I looked at the screen but I ignored it and put it back in my pocket. Tyler looked at me and I just shook my head, telling him not to worry about it. He knew exactly what that meant.
TYLER POV
After Tessa had a bit of a break she went back to working with Gladys and there were a few people hanging around but I saw Angelo sneak out of the front gates without saying anything to anyone. He looked like he was up to something.
So I put my things down and I looked around to make sure that no one was watching me. But they seemed more interested in what Tessa could do. So I snuck out after Angelo and followed him down the street.
He was heading in a familiar direction which was weird, because I didn’t know too many places around here. He finally got to that werewolf camp who sent me to that mansion and almost got me killed and their Alpha was waiting out the front of the camp for Angelo.
"So Angelo, have you convinced her yet?" The Alpha asked.
"Not yet. I haven’t tried. I’ve prolonged things. She’s staying a little longer. But I don’t think she’s planning on staying. Not with her mate here. He has his own pack up North that he needs to get back to. And we all know that she’ll go where he goes." Angelo says.
"We need Tessa to stay in New Orleans. You know this and you said that you could make it happen." The Alpha says.
"And I am working on it. She’s still here now. Let’s just focus on that. There’s a vampire after her that she needs to deal with first. And I don’t know where or when that is going to happen." Angelo says.
"Your daughter is the only thing that matters. The prophecy isn’t wrong. She’s the one that can break the curse." The Alpha says.
"Hey, stop pushing me. It’s your fucking curse. Not mine. I can let her leave if I want. You have delivered good on your side of the deal yet." Angelo snaps at him. And the Alpha growled.
"I am looking for them. I have friends in packs all over the country and I am waiting for them to get back to me. They will find the people that you’re looking for. I promise." The Alpha says.
"If they’re not here by the end of the week then the deal is off and Tessa is free to leave. I won’t force her to stay here if I don’t have to." Angelo threatens them.
"Fine. We will get more people out looking. We will make sure that they are here by the end of the week." The Alpha says.
"Good. They are my only threat and I need to know where they are. I want them here." Angelo demands and storms off.
He started walking down the road really pissed off about that confrontation when Tyler stood out in front of him.
"You son of a bitch." Tyler says.
