Chapter 28: Chapter 28

I started screaming in pain and Tyler was screaming at the witch to stop but Angelo stopped Tyler from interfering.

"This will help her. Trust me." Angelo yelled above the noise of the room.

"How the fuck is this helping her. It’s hurting her." Tyler growled. His body starting to vibrate with anger and fur started sprouting on his arms.

"You need to calm down. This was the easiest way. We don’t have time for her to find her own powers." Angelo yelled.

"What are you talking about?" Tyler growled as his canines protruded from his gums and Angelo knew that he needed Tyler to calm down.

"Would you hurry up over there. I can’t hold this wolf off for much longer." Angelo yelled at the witch. But she kept chanting and the light coming from my chest sprouted out like branches of a tree and went in all different directions.

Tyler stopped losing control because curiosity got the better of him and he looked out the window to see other witch’s circling the building and they were also chanting, and the light was going from each of them to the other and back into the room to where Tessa was sitting.

And then, there was nothing. It was silent. The chanting stopped and light went dull and disappeared. And I fell back on the bed breathing really heavily. Tyler’s canines and claws retracted and so did his fur and he ran over to me.

He leaned over me rubbing my face and my chest where the witch had placed her hands on me.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I think so. What the fuck was that?" I asked.

"How do you feel?" The witch asked.

"I don’t know. Weird. What did you do?" I asked sitting up.

"She gave you some power. All of the witch’s from her coven gave you a little of their own power each. So you didn’t drain any of them, but you now have more power than all of them put together." Angelo explained.

"Why the hell didn’t you warn her?" Tyler growled at him.

"Because she needed it. It needed to be done." Angelo explained.

"What does this mean?" I asked standing up.

"It means that you might have a chance of fighting the shadow witch. But I don’t know. She’s incredibly powerful. This is Gladys. She is going to stay here and teach you how to use your powers. So that you won’t be completely unprepared." Angelo explained.

"You could have at least asked first before you did that?" I yelled waving my arm and the window on my left exploded and Tyler covered me with his body. " Holy shit." I say looking at my hand.

"Well, I guess the spell definitely worked." Tyler says.

"That’s why you need help to control them." Angelo says.

"Can you just leave us alone for a bit?" I asked. And Angelo looked hesitant but he agreed and left with Gladys.

"I’m sorry. I didn’t know that he was going to do that." Tyler says.

"Why are you apologizing. I know that you didn’t know. And you would have told me before hand if you did." I say sitting on my hands on the bed.

"Are you really that scared?" He chuckled.

"Did you not just see that window explode? How the hell did I do that?" I asked.

"Well, they gave you their power. I guess we have no choice but to stay here and learn how to use them." He says.

"I guess so. I wasn’t prepared for this shit when I came here. I’m sorry. I should have just stayed at home." I say. But Tyler sat down and put his arm around me.

"No. You needed to do this. I understand that. And Angelo does seem to have your best interests at heart. He just does things in his own little warped way." Tyler says.

"Yeah. I guess he does. You shouldn’t be dragged into this mess Tyler. You should go home." I say.

"Wherever you are, that’s my home. I’m not leaving you. Not for anything. I am staying here with you. Especially if there is a battle happening." He says.

"You’re too good for me." I say. And he grabs my chin with his thumb and forefinger and forces my chin up to look at him and he kisses me.

"We were made for each other. So I’m definitely not too good for you." He says.

When we finally left the bedroom Angelo and Gladys were waiting in the courtyard for us. And Tyler growled when he saw them. But I knew that he didn’t mean to. His emotions just got the best of him there. So I hold his hand to calm him down.

"Alright. What do this training involve?" I asked.

"It’s just to control your power. That’s all. It won’t be painful or anything like that. It just takes a lot of concentration, and it will take up a lot of time." Gladys says looking at Tyler.

"I’m not leaving Tessa’s side at all. I don’t care how many hours in the day it takes. I’m gonna be there. In case you bastards decide to do something else behind our backs." Tyler snarled.

"Alright. It will probably get boring for you though." Gladys says.

"As long as I’m with my mate, then I won’t be bored. Besides, there’s a few things I wouldn’t mind practicing myself while you two are doing that. I can be off to the side practicing my own thing." Tyler explained with a smirk on his face.

I noticed that it was daytime and Angelo was standing outside. But it wasn’t long before I noticed that he was sticking to the shadows of the balcony above us from the upper floors of the house. That’s how he was able to be outside. He wasn’t coming out into the sunlight.

"When do we start?" I asked.

"We’ll start first thing tomorrow." She says.

"Alright. Well, I’m starting so I need get something to eat. All you have around here is blood." I say.

"You’ve never tried blood?" Angelo asked.

"Never had the urge to. I need food." I say.

"I saw a cafe down the road." Tyler says.

"We can order in. I don’t want you leaving the mansion." Angelo says.

"I’m not a prisoner. I’m going to go and get something to eat. We’re just going down the road and I wouldn’t mind seeing a little bit of New Orleans while I’m here. Apparently, it’s a real party town." I say raising my eyebrows.

"It is at nighttime. And that’s definitely out." Angelo says.

"Fine. Then you can take us for a tour tonight. But right now, we’re hungry and we’re gonna get some food." I say.

So Tyler and I left the mansion and we headed down the road and we went to the cafe and ordered some food and then sat down at a table.

"I think we might have to stop at a clothing shop as well. I’ve been in the same clothes for days." I say.

"I was thinking the same thing. I have as well. Neither of us really thought this through." He says.

"I did bring a bag with me but I left it at the cemetery. That’s where I met Angelo for the first time. In his families crypt." I say.

"Wow. That’s not creepy at all." Tyler says.

"I know, right." I say laughing.

"Perfect place to meet a vampire." He says.

After we ate we went to a clothing store that was pretty close to where we were and I started looking through all the racks of clothes that they had and I found a few things that I liked that definitely went well with this weather. It was cold in Maine, but here, it was definitely not cold. I was sweating in the clothes that I have been wearing for days.

"Can I ask you a question?" Tyler asked.

"Sure." I say.

"Do you ever wear dresses?" He asked. And I had to stop and think about it.

"Only at parties and special events. Like the night we met. That was a rare occasion for me to wear a dress." I explained.

"Okay. What about this?" He asked showing me a tye dye maxi dress.

"I actually like that. It’s really nice." I say.

"There’s a whole heap of them over here." He says.

"I don’t want to go too crazy on clothes." I says.

"Don’t worry about it. We’ll buy a suitcase and everything with be fine to get home." He says.

"I meant you spending all of your money on me." I say.

"It’s our money. Not mine." He say and I looked at him cocking an eyebrow at him.

"Alright then. If that’s the case, then please explain how you have so much money to keep the pack going?" I asked.

"I own a lot of businesses that aren’t on pack lands. They’re in human towns. And very successful." He says.

"Wow. That’s nice to know. So, if something were to happen to you then everything would go to me." I say.

"Maybe. Why, are you thinking about knocking me off?" He asked eyeing me suspiciously.

"Well, you can’t really rule anything out when there’s a lot of money involved." I say innocently and he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder and slapped my ass. " Ouch, you bastard. That hurt. Put me down, we’re in public." I say.

He put me back on my feet and the people in the store watching us but we didn’t stop messing around while we were shopping.

We finally got back to the mansion just after dark and we heard yelling in the courtyard. It was Angelo and Mitchell.

"You said that no werewolves would ever be allowed in this part of the city. This is our city. So why are they living in your house?" Mitchell yelled.

"Because I said so. Tessa has more right to be here then you do." Angelo yelled.

"How the fuck is that possible? She’s a fucking wolf?" He screamed.

"She’s half vampire you prick. She’s my daughter." Angelo admitted.

"You wolf loving son of a bitch. I outta kill you and that little bitch of yours." Mitchell gritted through his teeth. And in the blink of an eye Angelo raced to Mitchell and snapped his neck and Mitchell fell to the ground.

I gasped and Angelo looked at the door and Tyler and I slowly walked inside looking at Mitchell on the ground.

"What did you just do? He has a lot of friends. You just killed him." I say.

"Relax. It takes more than that to kill a vampire." He says.

"What? He’s not dead?" I asked.

"Well, yeah he is. But he’ll wake up soon. That was just a warning. Next time he will get a stake through the heart." Angelo says. " Where the hell have you two been? You were just going to go get something to eat." He continues.

"I love my bag and he didn’t bring and clothes. So we bought some. And some toiletries. So, we’re gonna go shower because it’s been fucking days." I say.

"Alright. Listen, I hired one of the witch’s that isn’t scared to be here in the mansion. She bought food and she’s going to be cooking meals at the mansion while we’re here. He didn’t even think about food while we were here." Angelo explained.

"Anything to keep us in the mansion grounds huh?" I asked.

"No. I didn’t mean it like that." Angelo says.

"Relax man. She’s just messing with you." Tyler says. And I smirked at Angelo but he just shook his head and we went up to our room and put away all of our new clothes.

I went into the ensuite bathroom, and I got undressed and I got into the shower. And it wasn’t long before I felt the shower door open and Tyler got in behind me.
