System screens hovered before Kai’s foggy form, displaying information about his third new skill.
Kai thoroughly skimmed through the screen and truly wanted to acknowledge his luck, but whatever had happened recently had done nothing but disappoint him again and again.
This was his second trial, which had brought discomfort to his newly found entertainment.
And now, only the last Trial remained.
The Trial of Soul.
Frankly speaking, he had little to no idea about the contents of the Trial — not to forget, he wasn’t even sure if the trial would truly happen or not.
However, that same uncertainty grew so much on his mind that he couldn’t see a new system window form in front of his eyes.

His body slowly began to dissipate as if it were a temporary form it had taken due to the influence of different energies.
And in no time, he disappeared from there as well.
In the blink of an eye, Kai’s vision changed completely.
The void-like space had disappeared, and now, in front of his eyes, there existed a small garden, filled with black roses from which small embers and sparks rose up in the air.
Covering the whole garden, a small passage up front was made of a dazzling white marble-like stone, chiseled perfectly into brick-like shapes and laid beautifully by a master, which led to a small pavilion at a distance.
Kai stood there completely confused; And yet, not a single notification from the system came through.
With his patience exhausted, Kai decided to start walking forward after a few moments of eerie silence where continuous sounds of sparks echoed.
As he closed his distance, he found the pavilion much more eye-appealing than before.
A bright and majestic stone shed held by countless carved and masterfully designed pillars, further adorned by the furniture set inside, looked like a view that one would wanna see at least once in their life.
As Kai slowly approached the pavilion, he stopped abruptly at the sight of something that had left him stunned mere minutes ago.
Another sphere, made of nothing but raw energy, hovered mid-air on one of the chairs as if embodying the will of someone sitting on it.
"Don’t tell me..." He noticed the slight change in the sphere — unlike before, it bore a soft, luminous white glow.
"Took you long enough.."Kai had already guessed it, however, as soon as a soft, soul-enchanting voice echoed in the space, he became sure of it.
"Are... you the Goddess of Soul?" He asked bluntly while slowly retreating one of his feet behind.
"That is correct, although I reckon what to address you with... Human Kai Evernox, Player Kai Evernox, or the Scavenger King - Shadow?"
Hearing her words, Kai flinched as he stared at the orb with his eyes widened and jaw slightly dropped.
What she had uttered, wasn’t something that had been known to even a single soul except for his.
The fact that Kai bore yet another title to his existence was a secret that he had not let even a single being find out in the span of 7 years.
Scavengers.
A title used for those who failed to gain any opportunities to overcome their weaknesses. A group of those who were rejected by the world and fated to be the lowest on the food chain of the modern world.
At first, they joined together to avoid being obliterated in the worldly race for power; however, with time, they grew fond of their ways, their beliefs, and decided to stay as it is throughout the years, while more and more people joined them with each passing day.
Having gained sheer population over the course of months, they were automatically considered as one of the top 9 guilds in the entire world.
Since they were rejected by all opportunities to grow stronger inside the world of ’The Seven Calamities’, the group decided to live as lowlifes and slowly gain control over the world with the help of their brains.
Within months, as their population exceeded that of all others combined, the group gradually faded away from the eyes of normal people and blended into the world as if it never even existed — while having won control over the most important treasure that ruled the world, Information.
Secretly controlling the World from hiding, selling information for funds, and controlling the flow of powers through such secrets, they quickly became known to the public once again, however, this time, powerful enough to fight against the whole world at once.
Sometimes they were known as Beggars, and sometimes as the omnipresent shadows. Their names changed each other; however, one thing that didn’t change in them was their beliefs and foundations that sculpted them into what they were.
Foundations called discipline, hierarchical respect, and the utmost loyalty towards a single mysterious entity, which held the title of a king.
A man who had never shown his true face to even the second in command of the group.
Due to this trait, a new title was forged within the group, revering him as the embodiment of secrets — Shadow.
And the fact that the creator of such a large guild and the holder of the Title of Scavenger King was none other than Kai himself was something that even he wished to be erased from the world.
