The Secret Obsession of the CEO
Chapter 198: Salt On Wound

Chapter 198: Salt On Wound

Sidney went silent for a while. Superficially, this would seem like a great deal. A recently single mother with a young daughter getting protection and financial aid from government agencies should be an attractive deal.

But Sidney knew that there should be more to it considering that Rory is the one bringing it up after threatening to sue her for slander.

"What’s the catch?" Sidney raised her brows and wetted her lips.

Rory smiled and passed her a bottle of water seeing that she was stressed. Sidney waved her hand. With a sigh, Rory leaned back in her seat.

"Sign an NDA. Don’t make it public. Let’s stop talking about him. Let the name Lennon Roberts get forgotten forever as he rots in hell," Rory clenched her jaws.

She had a feeling that Lennon Roberts is enjoying all the attention on him. Getting compared to Ted Bundy is not going to humiliate him. He’s going to find that heroic. She wanted Lennon Roberts’ name to be redacted from every document, and his face erased from every record.

Seriously, what could be achieved by remembering the name of Lennon Roberts? More copycats? No, that’s not needed! So, what if some people will be denied studying the mind of one psychopath? They can survive.

No one should remember the name, Lennon Roberts. A modern day damnatio memoriae. He deserves to be forgotten. He should not allow enjoying the attention he is getting. He deserves to rot in the dungeons like the beast he is.

Only those who were affected by him, only those innocent women should be remembered and grieved. And their names cannot be pronounced in the same sentence as Lennon Roberts. They cannot be remembered to be the prey of that monster.

They should be remembered for who they were, who they ought to be, and who they aspired to be. They should be remembered for the person they were denied becoming because of a monster.

Never as helpless victims, but as little buds who were plucked before their time just because a monster was restless.

"You want to earn all the money, don’t you?" Sidney leaned forward gritting her teeth. "I am your competition, and you want me out of your way, don’t you? Witch! You truly are a witch! Oh, I can understand why your kind was burnt at the stake in the past. Your entire being... It’s so rotten!"

Rory scoffed. She doesn’t have to stand trial in front of someone selfish like Sidney. She is not going to mind her word. She’s heard the worst things said about her just because of her hair color. This much is nothing.

"Ten million dollars," Rory puckered her lips. "Okay, for Skyla’s sake, I can throw in a couple more million. Twelve million dollars. What do you say? Take it and leave. I don’t want to hear your name or about you ever in my life again. I don’t want to hear your side of the story or your victimhood. Take the money, move South or to Alaska. Work in a Walmart or Target as a cashier, raise your daughter, and if you find a good man-although I suppose you should stay away from men for the time being... marry, start a new life!"

Sidney laughed. "Are you f*cking joking with me? 12 million for life? Heh! I could earn that in just a year if I~"

"I am being gracious here, Sidney with an ’i’," Rory slammed the table, interjecting her. "I can take Skyla from you and leave you to rot as a homeless junkie on the street. It doesn’t take much. All I have to do is keep you in some garage for a month shooting you up with heroin and voila..." She smirked.

"I wonder why your husband never came up with this brilliant idea. He kept you closer till the end... Stupid!" Rory scoffed and drank water from the bottle.

Sidney’s face went pale. Did she think that Rory has the means to do that? Yes! Would anyone even doubt Rory if she turned her into a hobo addict? No!

What a schemer!

"Witch! You are a witch! No wonder he was so obsessed with you. He must have known your true heart. You two must have vibed so much and~"

"Shush!" Rory splashed water on Sidney’s face.

The water dripped on Sidney’s purse that she was keeping on her lap. Before she wiped her face, she started to dab the water in her purse with a paper towel. "You witch!" Sidney cursed under her breath and then checked the insides of the purse.

"Thank God! It’s not wet!" she wiped her phone.

Rory smirked. "So, what if you are recording our conversation, Sidney? You really think that you’ve got me?" she asked.

Sidney gulped. Yes, she turned on her phone recorder when she went to the bathroom earlier and she was happy that she recorded the threats Rory threw at her. That would give her a chance, right?

She was not going to lose the money. Just twelve f*cking million? Who does she think she is? Witch!

"Record this too," Rory smiled and leaned forward. "You used to be Miss Universe, right?"

"I still am a Miss Universe. I am Miss Universe 2015," Sidney looked at Rory like she was a fool.

"Whatever," Rory shrugged. "I was never into beauty pageants."

Sidney fisted her hands on the table and that made Rory smirk.

"You must have met or known about many influential people, right? Does Jonathan Erling ring a bell?" Rory asked.

Sidney gulped.

"Then you should be familiar with Gordon Faraday, right?" Rory asked. "See, apparently my grandma is friends with him. He heard of this situation with that guy, and you know, offered help. So, I have his personal number on my phone. He promised me that he would answer me right away if I called..."

Sidney sat there silently contemplating. Rory waited for her reply. But it seemed like she was not reaching a decision but getting more confused.

"Why?" Sidney looked at her after a while. "Last I heard, you were confined on your bed, shouting at anyone and everyone... Why are you here? Why are you threatening my good life?" she asked.

Rory looked at her eyes which were red. the veins in her forehead were popping and she looked extremely stressed.

"You never should have threatened to sue my husband, Sidney. If only you didn’t send your lawyers to my husband, you could be out there meeting your agents, giving out interviews and motivational talks, or whatever you pleased to do. You never should have coveted my Fitzwilliam’s money and ruined his mood. He came home drunk that night because of you!" Rory clenched her jaws and pointed at her.

"Oh, and how soon you forgot what I did for you? If I didn’t come down to get you that night, I would have escaped without a scratch on my body..."

Rory regretted that. Had she left without caring for Sidney, Jake would have been outside, and she would have escaped without Lennon laying hands on her.

Heh! How stupid of me!

Sidney stared at Rory. She then smirked. "Husband?" she laughed. "That idiot...he’s your husband, right? That weakling who needs to be defended by his wife time and time again... Always hiding in his wife’s skirts! Poor guy gets a visit from a lawyer, and he went out drinking forcing the wife to act. How~"

"Oh, shut your f*cking mouth, ingrate!" Rory banged the table. "Don’t you f*cking talk about~"

"Your husband?" Sidney stood up with a mocking scoff. "Is he that good in bed? By the way, how is your s*x life lately? Have you told your darling husband that his father tried to r*pe you in front of me--his stepmother? And also he was continuously r*ping you from when you were a child? How did your darling husband take it? Did he not mind it at all? Or did it turn him on more? That c**khold! I knew he was a sissy..."

*Bam*

As she was speaking Rory threw the empty bottle at Sidney. She didn’t think that apart from being ungrateful, Sidney would rub salt on her wounds.

Sidney smirked with a shrug. "Didn’t hurt at all, witch!"

"Why, Sidney? Did you try to seduce him with your lopsided b**bs hanging out just like you did with Derick? Sorry, Liam likes natural b**bs. That does not make him a sissy. That makes him someone with a taste. He just doesn’t like bimbos!"

"You f8cking..." Sidney lunged at Rory and Rory too stepped at her. The lawyers from both side came to them and held them back. Rory was planning on at least hitting Sidney at least once. But she took in a deep breath to calm down.

No, she cannot hurt Sidney physically. She is too used to physical pain. She is going to hurt her where she hurts.

"I am going to destroy you, Sidney. Watch me!" she gritted her teeth. "The twelve-million-dollar offer is off the table. You two..." she pointed at Sidney’s lawyers. "I’ll pay your firm ten million dollars for not representing Sidney. What do you say?" she said.

Sidney’s lawyers blinked and Rory’s lawyers cleared their throats with a smirk.
