The Secret Obsession of the CEO
Chapter 177: Plot To Kill

Chapter 177: Plot To Kill

By letting Lennon do what he wanted without any hindrance they made him believe that he was free, left unwatched.

He pranced along, making his little plans thinking that he is alone. Of course, Jake was smart to have himself included and made records of everything.

No one can save Lennon.

And Robert Milroy was sent by Gordon Faraday. Agnes wouldn’t have approved of using Rory as bait to this extent but Rory got to that on her own.

When Robert Milroy told them that Rory wants to travel to LA secretly, they purposefully put her on the same flight Lennon was taking.

Lennon used that secret airstrip that was not listed in any database to make his secret travels to the town. That’s how he made sure that there won’t be any official records of him being in the town whenever Rory was stalked. And this was not the only secret airstrip Lennon used.

But everything has receipts. Lennon thought he is safe. Lennon thought that Rory was stupid.

And he was proved wrong.

"I cannot do anything. I gave her a choice and... How well am I protected?" Jake asked. His last question was a whisper.

Mrs. Delport could understand that Jake is concerned for his safety. Because they know firsthand how dangerous going agent Lennon would be.

"You are having your phone with you, aren’t you?" She said.

Jake is transported as a prisoner. And the agent in charge of him is a loyalist of Agnes Roberts. Jake is the safest he’s ever been.

And because Rory got herself involved, their timing went off. But they managed to strange everything. Every guy here is loyal to Agnes. No one will follow any other order defying what she tells them. Even the President is no exception.

They can try. But they cannot go against Agnes’ strength. Especially when it is masked behind Gordon Faraday.

"Then ask your guy to kill him," Jake said and ended the call.

Mrs. Delport shook her head. Jake wants to have the upper hand. He knows that he is dispensable as he has already handed over all the evidence against Lennon.

But he is valuable. He has proved himself to be a valuable asset.

As for Rory...

She has to make more calls. Lennon should be dead before Rory wakes up.

-----

Mia covered Ellie with the blanket. The baby was restless the whole day as if she knew that her mother was in danger and was suffering.

It took a lot to get her asleep. And just when she fell asleep they broadcasted that Rory was found.

She knows... She feels her mother...

Mia kissed Ellie and dimmed down the light.

Mia’s mother patted her chest seeing Mia sighing in relief.

"I’ve looked after so many babies but that little one..." Mia’s mother smiled. "She knows you. That’s why I called you..."

"You did good, mom," Mia sat on the couch hugging her mother.

They silently watched the news.

"They are now saying that Lennon Roberts is the suspect. And his assistant was booked too... Poor Rory, her husband was innocent and... She looked very disturbed in the morning. And they are not telling what happened. We should visit her. Her cousin called to inform us that he is coming to her the baby. And we should visit her with him,.. "

"Yeah.." Mia held her mother’s hand.

As they were talking, they heard a knock on the door.

Mia went to open the door. "Who is-"

Before she could finish her sentence the man by the door pushed her inside and locked the door. Before they could compose, he pulled out a gun.

"Where’s the baby?" He shouted. "Bring her here!" He pointed the gun at Mia and talked to her mother.

"Stop screaming! Get to it!" He shouted.

The two women were scared to the max and were screaming. Mia’s mother was screaming at the man to let her go and Mia was screaming as she was scared for her life.

Suddenly Mia’s mother stopped screaming as she saw a red dot on that man’s face. The red laser light that she would see in movies.

*Ting*

A hole appeared in her window and the next moment the man fell to the floor with a hole in his head.

The door was swinging in the wind and in entered a couple of men wearing suits. Mia screamed and ran to her mother and both of them looked at the door of the room Ellie was in.

The two men walked to the room. Mia’s mom ran to the kitchen and picked up the frying pan.

"We are under orders to protect the baby," one of the men in suits said and got inside the room.

At that moment Mia received a call. She was confused and she didn’t answer the call.

"You might want to answer the call, miss," the man in the suit said.

Mia answered the call rather hesitantly. And it was Mrs. Deport at the other end. She apologized sincerely for the trouble and told them that those men are for their protection. Mia was surprised but she accepted the protection.

Mrs. Deport smirked as she ended the call. They’ve planned it for ages. How would they leave the little baby out? She knew those who want Lennon not to get arrested will try their best to save him.

Especially the one near them who has a lot riding on Lennon won’t let Lennon spill the beans.

He tried to blackmail them with the life of their precious baby but he won’t get what he wants for.

He should learn that the only way to shut Lennon up is by killing him.

And now Lennon won’t be let out. He will be killed. Either in custody or even before that... He will die.

----

Rory was taken to the hospital. On the way, she was hooked up with painkillers and she didn’t feel much pain.

But even then, her headache didn’t reduce. She kept on thinking about Ellie.

And the smirking face of Lennon and the image of him she saw in the darkness...

She was terrified.

Once she was taken to the Er, she was asked various questions. She answered some and stared blankly at others as she didn’t make how to answer them. She still didn’t want to talk to the cops.

They told her that her arm was broken and she had a slight concussion. And they told her to talk to them if she feels like sharing anything.

Kylie, the partner of Derick was with her and she fell asleep after a while.

When Rory woke up it was morning. The blinds on the window were on and still she could see the morning sun seeping through. It must be very late.

"Cherry..." She heard the very familiar voice beside her, and she turned to look to her side.

"Fizzy!" Her eyes couldn’t believe to see Liam there. She tried to reach out her hands, but she couldn’t. Her hands were shaking.

"You’re here!" she said. "Are you better? They didn’t do anything to you, right?"

Liam got closer to her. "Ellie! Where is she? My poor..." her hands ended up on her chest.

She hasn’t fed her in a while. She didn’t have engorgement and that’s probably because she is medicated for that.

"She’s safe. She’s with..." Liam tried to talk to her but her eyes were searching for the baby. Liam stood up and walked out to get Ellie.

Liam could only sigh seeing Derick holding Ellie as if she was a ticking time bomb. Honestly, he didn’t know what Rory sees in him that is fatherly.

"Here," Derick handed Ellie over rather enthusiastically. "How is she doing?" Derick asked. This time his face was filled with concern.

"What did the doctor say?" Liam asked. He might be wrong. But he had a feeling that she is avoiding his eyes. He hoped that he was wrong, and he is just feeling guilty for not protecting her.

Derick sighed. And when Liam knew he is not going to hear anything good. The doctor told him that she is physically fine. The fracture is minor and the scratches on her body won’t leave much of a scar except in a couple of places.

He knew her. She wouldn’t mind scars much. So that won’t be an issue. Even if it would be an issue he can arrange surgeries for scar reduction.

But her mind... The psychiatrist she talked to refused to tell him anything. She said that everything was so fresh and it would be better to wait for her to be ready to open up.

The cops informed him that she was not wearing clothes. Maybe they told him to give a heads up of what she might speak of when she is ready to.

He was scared. Scared of what she will say.

"I’ll say this, Liam. It is time for you to step up," Derick said. His voice was serious.

"What did the doctor say to you?" Liam asked holding his arm as he tried to leave.

"Nothing," Derick shrugged. "They are not allowed to talk about~"

"Bullshit!" Liam gritted his teeth. "I know you know something. Tell me."

Derick let out a deep breath. "I don’t think she is fine, Liam. If you are not ready, just leave and~"

"Tell me what’s wrong with her?" Liam asked.

His patience wore already. He was surrounded by darkness; a fear so profound that he wanted to stay and fight.
