The Secret Obsession of the CEO
Chapter 171: Trapped

Chapter 171: Trapped

Rory carefully entered the wine cellar. She did not want to get accidentally hurt by Sidney. Although she was not sure, she knew Sidney must have gone through so much pain to be here.

And she would be defensive.

"Rory..." Sidney said, dropping the broken bottle to the floor.

Rory froze looking around that place. The floor was covered in red wine among other liquors. And her eyes ended up at Sidney’s leg. She was chained to the counter. And the dried dark red pigmentation on Sidney’s legs...

Rory’s heart skipped a beat. It can’t be...

"Why are you here?" Sidney asked and she was panicked.

"I heard the sound of glasses and..." Rory noticed the strangulation marks on Sidney’s wrists.

They looked purple. She must have been tied up for a long time and she had used broken glass to untie the binding. She had scratches all over her arm.

Her face looked like it was smashed hard against... Lennon probably punched her in the face and...

"Where is he?" Sidney asked.

"Out. I don’t know where..." Rory said.

Yes, he is not here, and she does not know when he will be back. She might not have a lot of time to get out of here. She should hurry up.

Rory took in a deep breath and walked closer. She had a lot of questions, but she knew that now is not the time to ask them.

"Careful... the glass..." Sidney tried to stand up but she couldn’t.

"I’m wearing shoes..." Rory said. She did feel the slight prickly feeling on her feet. The glasses were sharp and her sneakers with rubber soles didn’t hold much. But she didn’t care as it didn’t hurt that much.

"Are you okay?" Rory squatted near Sidney to help her get out of the chains around her leg.

There was a lock and she tried to pick the lock although she was not sure if she could.

"Why are you here?" Sidney asked. "Is it his ploy? What are you trying to do?" She shouted. She sounded maniac.

Rory looked Sidney right in the eye. "I’m trying to call the cops, but I cannot get any signal. It cut off for~"

"Did you open his office?" Sidney interjected her.

Rory gulped as Sidney sounded like she knew something. And she did find it weird that her phone signal cut off after she entered his office. "I did. I saw all the~"

"Oh, sh*t!" Sidney panicked some more. "Oh, sh*t! Leave me!" Sidney grabbed Rory by her shoulders and pushed her. "Leave. You don’t have time. He is not far. He is... That office is bugged. It will trigger him if anyone enters there. And he has a signal jammer that would activate on its own when someone breaches...."

As she was speaking, they heard the door to the basement unlock. Rory’s heart skipped a beat. Sidney went dead silent. Rory gripped a small piece of broken glass inside her hand.

So, Lennon knows that she entered his office. And he’s now here to kill her.

She pushed away the glass pieces and sat beside Sidney leaning on the wooden shelf. They could hear the leather soles of Lennon against the wooden shoes as he descended on the stairs leisurely. It was as if he knew that they are listening to his footsteps, and he purposefully lingered so that they could wallow in fear for more time.

Psycho!

Rory let out a sigh. Sidney had resigned to her fate, and she was looking to her side. Rory leaned forward to have a look at what Sidney was looking at. To Sidney’s right hand side, there was a towel and wrapped in the towel was...

Sidney was twenty two weeks pregnant. And that was a fully developed baby. By the medical advancements these days, that baby would have been saved if Sidney was not...

"I am sorry for your loss," Rory said. She did not know why the approaching footsteps of Lennon are not causing her to panic more. But then, this is better , right?

She did wonder why Sidney didn’t tell her about everything when she already knew who Lennon was. A lot could have been avoided and they would have saved her from how she has become.

But there is no use crying over spilt milk.

She didn’t know how Lennon coerced Sidney to keep mum. And she cannot judge her. Sidney has gone through a lot.

Yeah, but she was a little pissed.

Here she is in extreme danger as a psychopath is approaching her, she might even die without being able to take another look at her daughter.

And it is partly Sidney’s fault.

But she didn’t want to think that way. Both of them are in danger right now and thoughts like these wouldn’t help them in any way.

"At least after your death, your family would take enough steps... He will get caught for sure," Sidney mumbled.

Rory looked at Sidney with amusement. Seriously! This is what she is thinking NOW? She is jealous that my family will find my killer for sure?

She had to hold her breath so she to not get angry at Sidney. Now is not the time.

"Skyla..." Sidney mumbled and rested her head on the shelf.

"She’ll be safe..." Rory said. She didn’t want to comfort Sidney and even she didn’t know why she is comforting her.

But maybe because they were in grave danger together, she found solidarity with Sidney. Although Sidney was more exasperated.

But she had been through a lot.

"No," Rory whispered as she noticed Sidney clutching a glass piece. With shaking hands, Sidney held it to her wrist.

"No, Sidney. No. Look at me!" Rory gritted her teeth. She has seen enough death today. She was not going to witness another person dying in front of her. "we are going to get out of here alive. Trust me!"

Sidney looked at Rory with her eyes wide. After everything she endured to survive, she too didn’t want to die like this. But she couldn’t bear the pain and the exhaustion.

Rory placed her hand over her hand and nodded. "Just..."

"Well, well! What do we have here?"

Lennon’s casual deep voice interjected Rory. She glared at Lennon and Sidney hid the piece of glass behind her back.

"Did you have a look at my collections, dear?" Lennon asked Rory.

He stood right under the light and the shadows that contoured his face made him look terrifying. He put his hands inside his pockets and smiled like he always does at her.

Rory understood that he was always wearing a mask. All of his expressions, all of his show of emotions, are just a front he put forward to make others believe that he is just like them. He does not care about anything but furthering his agenda, and he does not care about what others feel.

He is the biggest liar and manipulator she had ever seen.

Rory scoffed. "I did! I also saw your little shrine for me. Which body part are you going to store there?" she asked gripping the glass piece hard in her hand.

She made sure the glass sank inside her palm so as not to lose the piece. When she attacks Lennon, she knew that the glass would sink into her flesh anyway. She wanted to get used to the pain, so she does not miss her chance when she attacks Lennon.

Lennon chuckled. With his hands in his pockets, he slowly walked toward Rory.

"You, dear, are special!" he smirked. "Why don’t you get away from that pig?"

He jerked his head and looked at Sidney. Sidney let out a whimper and leaned on the shelf.

"I see no pig~"

"Get to him!" Sidney shouted interjecting her. Rory turned to look at Sidney and saw that she is panicked. She was terrified. "Please..." she begged.

Sidney knew what Lennon would do if Rory does not go to him. He will start to torture her. That’s all he did till now. He didn’t get Rory and he showed it to her. She was afraid of more pain.

She was planning on killing him earlier. That’s why she caused a ruckus. But seeing Rory brought back all her pain. And her fear. Like a clockwork doll, she started to feel what he trained her to feel whenever he was near.

Terrified.

"You know what to do," Lennon said to Sidney. He smirked when Sidney got on her knees and started to bang her head on the floor.

Rory was surprised that Sidney is obeying Lennon to this extent. And she could not bear to see it. She pressed both of her hands flat on the floor for Lennon to see. The glass piece was still sticking to her palm. She endured the pain as she didn’t want Lennon to know that she is holding a sharp piece.

Lennon observed her and she stood up. Her hands were soaked in wine and her bleeding wound stung but she endured it and walked to Lennon.

"Was I that terrible actor?" she asked. "When did you find out?"

She was angry, and scared and was feeling a mixture of various other emotions. But she talked to Lennon casually. If he is looking at her to find out her emotions, she didn’t want him to see the fear in her.

Hate is acceptable.

"You..." Lennon held out his hand. Rory clenched her jaws as she didn’t want to take his hand.

Lennon’s eyes ended up at Sidney. Without even him saying anything Sidney started to bang her head harder on the floor.

Rory wanted to cry. Her throat went heavy, and she choked her tears back. She did not want to show Lennon that expression of hers. He is not worth it.

How terribly abused Sidney was for her to behave this way in his presence?
