Chapter 126: It Was Not Him(Really)!
"I hid it!" Liam tried to get that DVD from Rory. "You cannot look at that!"
"I already did," Rory hid the disc behind her.
At that time, there was a knock at the door. Rory opened the door. Penny was standing by the door. Liam hid behind the door and tried to get the disc but Rory did not let go.
"The baby...Where is she..?" Penny walked in. "Your uncle wants to play with her."
Maybe because she heard someone else’s voice, Ellie woke up and Penny cooed and talked to the baby and took her with her.
"That’s one nuisance gone," Liam spoke gritting his teeth.
"Who are you calling a nuisance? She’s our baby!" Rory got defensive.
"I have the other nuisance I have to handle," Liam smirked and jumped at her.
Liam fought with her to get that disc, but Rory knew how to avoid him. Inadvertently he ended up pinning her on the wall in between a corner and the wardrobe. When Rory realized that she was trapped, she gripped the disc harder.
She did not want to lose it. She thought he would accept that he made that disc for her and would talk about his feelings when he burned this disc. And that’s why she showed it to him.
I should have known! He does not like to talk about his feelings!
Rory regretted her decision. She should have hidden the disc forever for her to have a look whenever she pleased to.
Her chest was heaving and his face too was flushed as he was moving around a lot. His eyes met hers, and he blinked seeing the determination on her face. And she looked a bit nervous too. He could see that she is scared to lose it.
"Fine, have it!" he took a step back.
"I am having it! I am not planning on losing it," Rory said with a pout. Her lips were pressed together and were raised to the sky.
"You’re such a..."
Liam gritted his teeth and crashed his lips on hers. the intensity of his kiss matched her passion and the disc fell on the floor and rolled under the bed where Liam took her. For some time, the room was filled with her soft moaning and guttural grunts of Liam.
"I want to take a bath," Liam said kissing Rory’s temple. He did not know if he would have the opportunity to take a bath again in his life.
Rory nodded. She was surprised no one knocked on the door for almost half an hour, enabling them to have a little longer time for themselves.
"I’ll fill the tub," Rory tried to sit up. Their clothes were all sprawled on the floor. She didn’t know where their sheets were at.
"Yeep!" Rory yelped as Liam pulled her into a hug. "No... don’t leave," he kissed her shoulder. "God! You smell so nice."
Rory closed her eyes with a smile. She could feel his slightly sticky chest on her back and his even breathing fell on her hair. His strong forearm was over her chest covering her peaks and his fingers were drawing circles on her neck.
"You don’t want a bath?" Rory asked kissing his arm.
"No... I want to stay like this for a while...Possibly my whole life..."
When he spoke, his warm breath fell on her hair and Rory felt a sweet tingle in her heart.
"Hiding under the mattress is not very original, you know?" Rory chuckled. She interlocked her fingers with his bony fingers and kissed the back of his hand.
"How long were you hiding it?" she asked.
That disc contained pictures and short videos of Rory when she was around 13 or 14 years old. "The Queen of Argyll" was the background score for those arranged photos and videos. It was like an edited video and she was the main character.
He must have made that video of her and he didn’t give her the DVD and kept it hidden.
"Why didn’t you give me the DVD? Isn’t that why you made it?" she asked. "I loved each and every picture in there. I remember one of those videos you recorded on your phone... The one from the forest... We carved our names on many of those trees, didn’t we?"
Rory only then realized why he doesn’t want those trees to be cut.
"Wherever we went, whenever we found a new place, we carved our names together. Rory and Liam... Aww... You didn’t want them to cut the trees because you didn’t want those trees gone... Fizzy, those trees might be felled but those memories... Us, being together, those memories etched in our hearts will never fade and they can’t be felled. Don’t you feel the same too?"
Liam was not answering any of her questions.
"Did you think that I would laugh at it?" Rory asked turning to face him. That should be the reason why he kept it from her.
He smiled and brushed away the hair that fell on her face. "Wouldn’t you?" he asked kissing her lips.
"No! The pictures were very pretty. How did you even manage to collect that amount of pictures of me? And videos... I never realized you were recording me! How sneaky of you?"
Rory hit his chest playfully. He said nothing but only kissed her intensely. But she was not sure what her reaction would have been had she watched that video a decade ago.
Well...
"It was not me," he said with a playful smirk. "Why would I do such a stalkerish~"
"Oh, shut up!" Rory bit his lips.
"Aww..." his deep voice vibrated as he grunted. "Fine, not all pictures were from me."
"Right!" Rory laughed.
"Really! I promise," Liam said and Rory giggled.
"Oh, really?"
"Yes, for real."
"Oh?"
"Yes!"
"Mmmhmmm... I totally believe you, Fizzy," she kissed him.
Her eyes ended up at the door out of instinct and she jerked. "Someone’s at the door," she pushed Liam’s hands away and got up.
Liam sat up and he saw a shadow retreating from under the space between the door and the floor.
"I think they left," he said and with a sigh, he walked to the bathroom while Rory got dressed.
"Oh?" Rory looked under the door and only the light from the hallways seeped in. "Maybe Ellie is fuzzy. Someone might have come to get me and didn’t want to disturb us and left..."
Rory talked only to see Liam already in the shower. He probably didn’t hear her. She walked out and she couldn’t see anyone in the hallway. She walked to the stairs and she saw Sidney standing in the corner holding her belly.
"Are you okay?" Rory asked her.
Sidney was staring blankly at the floor. Her face was pale and her eyes were restless. She looked like she was in deep thoughts. She was clutching her phone tightly in her hand.
Don’t tell me she was listening to this time too!
Rory felt awkward and a little repulsed.
But Sidney looked like she was out of it.
"Sidney?" Rory held her elbow and only then did Sidney react.
"Calm down! It’s me!" Rory was shocked to see Sidney jumping in fright.
"Ah, yes..." Sidney smiled wiping the layer of perspiration on her forehead. "Hello, Rory..." she tried to smile, but it was obvious that she was forcing her smile. Her eyelashes were trembling.
"Sidney, are you feeling sick or anything? Is the baby okay? Should we call for a doctor?" she asked.
Sidney did not look well. "No... no..." Sidney gulped and wetted her lips. "Do you know someone...You live near Bee Rock, right? The suburbs?" Sidney gripped Rory’s forearm and Rory clenched her jaws as her hold was hurting.
"Is there an emergency, Sidney? I live thirty minutes from Bee Rock, but I can ask for help if you need it. Is someone in danger?" Rory asked.
"Oh... Oh..." Sidney took a step back. She tripped.
"Careful, Sidney," Rory held Sidney by the arm. "Wait... are you not feeling well? Is it morning sickness?" Rory asked.
Sidney did not look well. She did not know if she was scared of something or if she is having some physical ailment.
"No, I’m fine... I’ll be... I mean, I do not feel very good. Can I sleep in your room? Our room... Uh...Lennon... he... He smokes. I do not like it and... I am getting sick of that stench!" Sidney’s face twisted in disgust.
"Ah, actually..." Rory did not want to let Sidney sleep on their bed.
First of all, the state of their bed is ghastly. She found the sheets crumpled and hanging on the sides of the bed. She hasn’t made the bed yet and surely she cannot let another person lie on the same bed that was still soaked in all sorts of fluid discharged from their intimacy some time ago.
"There is a guest room on the third floor. If you could walk up the stairs..." Rory asked.
"Yes, I can!" Sidney nodded immediately. "Please show me the way."
Rory did not know what made Sidney act this way. She looked scared. Rory shrugged it off. Sidney was always weird and her pregnancy hormones would have amplified her weirdness.
After settling Sidney on the bed, Rory was about to leave. But Sidney grabbed her forearm. Her nails sank in Rory’s skin making her wince.
"What, Sidney?" Rory gripped Sidney’s wrist and pulled her hand off her.
