Chapter 114: Another Accusation(II)

Jennifer?

Rory crossed the aisle hearing Jennifer shouting at Liam to stay away from her.

"Hey!" Rory pushed the cart in front of Liam as Jennifer lunged at him.

The lady who was in the same aisle shook her head and walked away.

"Ah!" Jennifer clutched her belly. "Why did you do that?"

Jennifer’s shout attracted the other shoppers and it made Ellie cry.

"Oh, stop it, Jennifer! My cart didn’t even touch you!" Rory patted Ellie’s back as Liam was holding her.

That gathered townsfolk who knew Rory all accused her of hurting a pregnant woman with no consideration. That’s what they always did. Accuse her even if they don’t know what happened.

"She really didn’t hit you, miss!" The lady who was in the aisle before the crowd gathering spoke the truth.

Rory thought she must be new in town.

Burke--Jennifer’s husband got through the crowd and reached Jennifer.

"As far as I saw, it was you who were creating a fuzz with that man and scared the baby," the lady pointed at Liam.

"But he was following me around!" Jennifer started to shout once more.

Rory rolled her eyes. "Yeah, we are shopping!"

"But~" Jennifer

"You heard it! The town’s golden girl is in the wrong! Chop, chop! Disperse! Go on with your business... There’s no drama to watch here..." Rory clapped and the crowd all dispersed mumbling and frowning.

"Thank you for speaking the truth. You must be new in this town," Rory thanked the lady.

Waving her hands and mumbling something inaudible, that lady walked away.

"You, b*tch!" Jennifer pointed at Rory and Rory grabbed her finger.

"Hmpf!" with a snort Jennifer pulled out her finger. Burke placed his hands on her shoulders to calm her down.

"Did you cry to your husband that day because I didn’t give you flowers? Is that why your husband is following me around and harassing me? What a jealous b*tch! I am being patient and still haven’t complained to the cops. And you are here defending him? What kind of woman are you? Pff... What else should I expect from~"

"Quit it, Jennifer! You are the one harassing my family! You are making my baby cry! Why would my husband follow you’re a**? He is plenty busy at home taking care of me as it is," Rory spoke with no shame.

Speaking out like this was normal for her, but this time, her heart skipped a beat. With everything happening around Liam...

Allison!

She remembered the fight she had with Allison. What if Jennifer is not lying? Why is someone following Jennifer ever since we talked in the hospital? What if whatever happened to Allison happens to Jennifer too?

She took in a deep breath and composed herself. Liam cannot get framed once more. She felt a deep stare at her and she turned to see Burke staring at her. When her eyes met with him, he averted his eyes and cleared his throat.

Rory did not want to think deeply about it.

"If someone is harassing you, you should go to the cops, Jennifer," she spoke in a soft tone to Jennifer. She hoped Jennifer gets the help of cops.

If the cops investigated, then the suspicion on Liam would be cleared.

Jennifer noticed her husband sneaking glances at Rory. He has told her that Rory was his first love. And even after all these years, and even after she has a child with another man, he dares to stare at her as if she is chocolate chip ice cream.

She was pissed!

"Why?" she walked at Rory. "It is Liam. I know~"

Rory knew that she would say that she has proof or whatever. She did not want another rumor about Liam circulating in the town.

"Burke!" Rory turned at him immediately. "Good to see you after... " she smiled and brushed her hair behind her ears.

And as Rory expected, Jennifer stopped talking and hooked her arm in Burke’s arm.

"It has been a long time..." Burke leaned for a hug, but Jennifer pulled him back.

"Yeah..." Rory smiled sweetly, batting her eyelashes. "First of all, I want to congratulate on your wedding..." she bit her lower lip. "And... Congrats on your baby... Jennifer mentioned at the hospital..." she extended her hand for a shake.

Jennifer tried to stop him, but he managed to shake her hand. She met with his eyes and he didn’t let go of her hands. Rory could see in his eyes a yearning.

She almost jumped in fright when Liam placed his big warm hand on her back. "Shall we?" he kissed her cheek.

His jaws were tight and she knew he was mad.

"Yeah," she smiled and pulled her hand out of Burke’s hand. "Later!" she waved at Burke.

Jennifer dragged Burke away.

Rory thought that he would say something during the rest of the shopping, but he didn’t. She was not in the mood for having fun. They got what they needed and left the store.

She was feeling guilty for flirting with another man right in front of her husband.

She won’t sugarcoat it. That is what she did whether she did it willingly or unwillingly.

The drive back was silent. Rory could not bear it. She did not know what Liam was thinking. He was donning his angry face and yet he did not say a word. It scared her.

She wondered if he might be thinking that he does not have the right to blame her after he confessed to her about his feelings for Allison and what he did with her.

But what he did with Allison doesn’t matter regarding this issue. She would never get back at him for that in this demeaning way. She hated herself for it.

"I’m sorry, Fizzy... I..."

With a screech, the car came to a stop.

Rory gulped and pressed her back to the seat. Liam unbuckled his belt and she looked at him nervously.

He leaned at her and knots formed in her stomach. "Cherry..." he hugged her.

"I should be the one apologizing... I know why you did that...All my problems...I... I just stood there, forcing you to act. I am sorry."

Liam was angry. But he was angry at himself. When Jennifer started to throw accusations at him, he froze. His palms went cold and his brain stopped working.

And it was his wife who had to come to his rescue!

Rory was surprised. She hugged him and patted his back. "It’s okay. Don’t feel bad... And I was in the wrong too. At that moment, I couldn’t think of anything else and..."

"You are very smart and quick-witted, Cherry... Unlike me who can only get angry..."

"Well, now... Don’t be so hard on yourself... You are great at quickies too..." Rory chuckled.

"That’s right... I am..." Liam laughed along and sat on his seat.

He held her cheek and traced his thumb over her lips. "He was staring at your lips the whole time. You know what he~"

Rory did not let him finish and kissed him. "I can’t stop others from looking at it, But these lips are only for you to kiss, Fizzy..." she whispered.

"I know..." Liam kissed her back. "I know you are all mine."

He wore his seatbelt and started the car. Rory was relieved that this is over.

"Don’t do it again..." Liam said and Rory turned to look at him.

Guess, it isn’t over.

"This is one of the reasons I wanted to keep you away. I know you will go to any extremes to protect me and that’s what I feared..."

Rory let out a deep breath.

"I am not blaming you. I never will. And I never will doubt your integrity. My love for you will never change whatever happens. But..."

"Oooh... the dreaded ’but’..." Rory said clenching the seatbelt.

She didn’t even pay attention to what he said before because she knew that there is a "but" coming.

Liam stopped the car once again. He leaned closer to her and held her hand.

"But," he said in a playful tone. "Don’t do anything that will make you hate yourself afterward... not for me, not for Ellie... Not for anyone. Never do something that you don’t agree with your whole heart, for any reason..."

He kissed her forehead.

"What?" He asked as she was staring at him blankly.

And his heart shook seeing tears flowing from her eyes.

"Hey, Cherry! What happened?"

Rory wiped her eyes. She did not expect he would say stuff like this to her. It made her heart fill with warmth. She did not know why she cried though.

Surely what she did would have hurt him but he was willing to let that go and talk for her sake.

"You are so sexy, Fizzy..." she grabbed his collar and pulled him closer. "Kiss me..."

Liam crashed his lips on hers. He was happy to see her happy.

As they were kissing, Liam received a call.

"Answer it!"

Rory had to push him away to make him answer his call.

"It’s from the police station...from LA," he furrowed his brows.

Rory saw his fingers were trembling and she held his hand.

He nodded at her and answered the call.

Rory could not hear what was spoken at the other end, but Liam looked shaken. He was talking about the keys to his apartment and she wondered if the cops are there with a warrant.
