Chapter 107: Silly or Cute?
Rory was delighted at the dining table as it was filled with happy chattering. She thought others might bring up Liam’s case and might hurt him, and she was a little hesitant to come home.
But no one brought up anything about the case. It probably was deliberate.
She could sense the worry in their faces at times when they looked at Liam or her. But maybe they were convinced with her brave appearance, the mood got a lot better.
Lenny and Sidney were sitting with everyone but they were avoided mostly. Usually, uncle Lenny would try to join in the conversations, but this time, he was silent. Sidney too opened her mouth to speak at times, but she shut up without saying anything.
It was weird, but Rory thought it would be better this way. Uncle Lenny doesn’t have to be patient with his family. They’ve failed to accept him for years.
The kids were given a separate table and of course, Liam never graduated from the kid’s table. She didn’t know why that never offended Liam. She saw him chatting with Chubster and Skyla was shyly watching Liam.
Ellie was sitting in her very own high chair. Rory insisted that Ellie does not need a high chair now, but Penny was very excited and made Leroy drive her to the store and bought a lot of toys for Ellie.
Ellie did not look very impressed with the bottle in front of her. Her father and she were in a stalemate. She did not want to take the bottle and Liam insisted that she will take the bottle. Both were very adamant about not relenting.
What a pair!
Rory decided to feed Ellie if she does not accept the bottle within the next ten minutes.
"Ma! I love your roast chicken!" Leroy said rubbing his belly.
"Oh, it was Rory who cooked it today," Dorothy was proud.
"Ah, that’s why I thought it was even better!" Leroy laughed and Rory chuckled.
"Where is my roast chicken?"
The loud voice from the kid’s table made Rory chuckle.
"Coming!" she went to take care of her jealous husband patting Ellie.
In the end, Ellie’s hunger won, and she drank from the bottle.
After making sure Liam had his fill, she went to the kitchen and got the hidden cookies she baked for him.
"Look at that..." Frank noticed Rory walking funny hiding something behind her back.
"Every single time..." Chloe chuckled.
"What is this about?" Julia asked.
"It’s something very interesting," Derick explained it to Julia.
Whenever Rory cooked, she would make something in secret for Liam. No one would tell her anything if she gives it to Liam openly. No one will fight with her for what she cooked for Liam.
But she loved to be so secretive about it.
And Liam... Liam would be funnier. He would get whatever Rory cooked for him, stuff it in his pockets, and would run to his room.
It’s not something that started happening after their wedding. It was happening ever since Rory learned to bake when she was fourteen.
Even after all that, Rory had the gall to tell everyone that she does not love Liam that way.
The family could only laugh at those cute idiots!
"Oh, it’s cookies this time," Penny joined in.
"Chocolate chip cookies..." Dorothy winked. "Let’s see if she shares them with those kids..."
"Nope, she won’t!" Penny said. "Both of them won’t."
"She will, but Liam won’t let her share," Frank said.
"They’ve recently become parents... I think both of them will share," Chloe--the one with the heart of gold, said.
Everyone looked at Chloe like she was a poor little lamb getting taken for slaughter.
"Want to bet on it?" Leroy asked. He loved games.
The three of them looked at each other and they were sure of themselves and so they placed a $100 bet.
Rory, not knowing she was being observed by everyone curiously, walked to Liam. She knew Chubster and Skyla loved chocolate chip cookies. And so does Liam. Looking at their cute little faces, she wavered a bit.
But she shrugged it off.
"Kids, go get the pie in the kitchen," she sent the kids to the kitchen and transferred the cookies she had to Liam.
Liam got the cookies and safely stored them in his trouser pockets. It’s been a while since he’s eaten anything his wife cooked. He is not going to miss it for the world.
"Ah...I have work to do, wifey... If you’ll excuse me..." he kissed her on the cheek and ran up the stairs.
"I won! I won!" Penny laughed. Frank banged the table in frustration and Chloe was utterly astonished.
"I told you. Those two care only for themselves. Nasty~" Derick whispered to Julia.
"They’re cute..." Julia said. Her eyes had hearts out of admiration.
"Cute?" Derick stuck out his tongue.
His eyes ended up at Rory who was sharing the pie with the kids. Her eyes ended up at the stairs occasionally. He observed what she expects to see.
And after a while, he saw her smiling beautifully looking at the stairs. Ellie was patting her cheeks and she was not minding the baby. Her eyes were on the top of the stairs.
He saw the reflection on the photo frames hanging on the side of the stairs. There was a figure standing at the top of the stairs waving his hands and saying something.
It should be Liam, right?
Isn’t this childish? Would she find this cute too?
Derick sighed as he looked at Julia.
"What?" Julia asked. He shook his head.
He bowed his head as a wave of fear washed over him.
Will it work this time?
Penny noticed Derick has gone silent all of a sudden. She looked at Leroy and he rolled his eyes. His wife wants him to talk to his son. What should he say?
"I’ll put her to sleep," Rory said and excused herself.
Ellie didn’t take her usual naps this day as she was excited to see so many new people. She would be very tired now.
When she entered their room, Rory smiled seeing Liam has finished all the cookies. She paced inside the room a couple of times and Liam got Ellie.
"Go lie down a bit... You didn’t have to cook or an entire town..." he grumbled.
"But I love cooking for everyone! Also, everyone helped, except for you," Rory sat on the bed and stretched herself. "You just sat there..."
"Hey, I washed the dishes..." Liam corrected her.
He almost gave his grandmother a heart attack when he said he would do the dishes. She thought she was in heaven.
"Yes, thank you for your generosity, Your Royal Highness!" Rory chuckled.
"She’s not sleeping?" Rory asked.
She almost fell asleep, but Ellie was not sleeping even when she was tired. Rory had to breastfeed a little for her to finally fall asleep.
Liam neatly tucked in Ellie and jumped on the bed. "The cookies were amazing. But I missed milk..." he complained.
"Milk?" Rory wanted to get him milk but then she remembered that grandma said that there is no milk in the fridge.
"Why don’t you get to the store and buy some? There are kids in the house and it would be better to have some milk," she said.
She hoped her dear husband will move his as! to get to the store. But seeing his smirk, she knew he is not going to leave this room. He is not going to let her leave either.
"Come on... open it up..." he popped open the buttons of her dress and buried his face in her cleavage.
"Ah... I love this smell..."
"I stink!" Rory pulled his hair to get him up. But he insisted that he would stay there.
"You smell so good..." He peppered kisses all around her chest and massaged her firm peaks.
He does that to prepare her. Ever since that day in the woods where he helped her, he says he is addicted to the taste of her milk and would shamelessly have some every day.
"Don’t you think it’s weird, Fizzy?" she asked caressing his hair.
She bit her lips as his tongue swirled on her chest, nibbling on it.
"Weird? We are married..." he kissed her sensitive tip making her moan slightly. "Nothing we do is weird."
He continued with his teasing.
-----
"Is there anything you want to talk to me about?" Leroy asked leaning on the chair. Penny was sitting on the bed and applying her night cream.
"Talk?" Derick raised his brows. He did not understand what his father wants from him.
Leroy looked at Penny and rolled his eyes. "Your mother asked me to talk to you, because..." he let his wife speak.
"You look a little disturbed, Derick. If there is something you want to ask us or talk to us about..."
"There is nothing," Derick said with a shrug.
"Is she..." Penny gulped. Leroy bowed his head and sighed. He knew his wife will always come to this point.
"Your ex... is she attending the wedding?" Penny asked.
Derick cleared his throat. "Um...she... I wanted my son to attend the wedding and I had to...invite her. She will be here on the day of the wedding."
"Oh?" Penny was clearly in a dilemma.
She wanted to meet her only grandson she gets to meet just once a year ever since Derick’s divorce. But at the same time, she didn’t want to meet "her".
