Chapter 90: Your Smile is Like the Taste of the Middlemost Scoop of a Watermelon

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Your Smile is Like the Taste of the Middlemost Scoop of a Watermelon

Su Wan hugged her shoulders, shivering slightly as if a sour fruit had bitten into her teeth.

She sat cross-legged on the ground, "So cheesy!"

Lin Shuang felt quite innocent, "It was you who insisted on asking."

He too plopped down beside Su Wan.

Su Wan blinked at him without saying a word, just like the twinkling stars.

"Are you trying to electrify me, Wanwan?"

"Lin Dasha."

Lin Shuang blinked back at her, "What is it?"

Su Wan paused for a moment, then whispered, "You should guess what I’m about to say."

"Pretty much," Lin Shuang nodded, "after all, it’s you and me."

Su Wan pouted, her head resting on his shoulder.

"Ah... Fu Dalian even made me back so many cheesy lines, that stuff, it just doesn’t seem to suit us."

She then reached for her backpack’s zipper, pulling out a bottle of fruit wine.

"Hm? Is there also a part where you get me drunk?"

Lin Shuang took it and saw it was a bottle of Green plum wine.

Su Wan smiled and asked him, "Can this even get you drunk?"

"I don’t know, I’ve never had fruit wine, heard it has a surprisingly strong kick."

"So actually, I was planning to use it to embolden myself."

Su Wan opened the bottle of Green plum wine and took a small sip.

"Ah, it really has a sweet flavor."

Lin Shuang took it from her and had a taste too, "It’s quite nice."

The two sat on the rooftop terrace of this tall building, Su Wan leaning on Lin Shuang’s shoulder, sipping wine under the starry sky with the evening breeze, passing the small bottle of Green plum wine back and forth, each taking turns.

Su Wan moved closer, practically lying in Lin Shuang’s embrace, "Lin Dasha, are you drunk?"

Lin Shuang didn’t know if he should be drunk or not, "I’m okay?"

Anyway, Su Wan was a bit drunk.

She didn’t start throwing drunken punches like she used to after having a little drink, she had a bit more tolerance now, but she still couldn’t compare to Lin Shuang.

"Umm... Lin Dasha, hold me."

This childhood friend’s cheeks were already flushed, buried in Lin Shuang’s neck, her skin feeling somewhat feverish against his.

Lin Shuang shifted from holding her shoulders to holding her waist, "Hold you like this?"

"I want a princess carry..."

So, Lin Shuang supported her legs and carried her horizontally in his arms, "Like this."

"Mm... I was quite happy when you carried me like this in the arena that day."

"You should have said earlier, I can provide this service anytime!"

Su Wan slapped him lightly, then grabbed his hand and placed it on her "Absolute Domain."

"You’ve stolen glances at this place many times today."

"Do I need to steal glances at you?"

"That’s true... but squeeze lightly! It tickles a bit!"

Su Wan curled up in his embrace, giggling softly, "How have I gotten so girly!"

"Indeed, best buddies should just speak directly."

"Before you speak, could you take your hand off your good buddy’s thigh first?"

"Aren’t you the one who grabbed my hand and put it there?"

"That’s because you looked so needy, just satisfying your craving!"

Su Wan swatted his hand away and looped her arms around his neck, "How about that, am I good to you or what?"

Lin Shuang circled her waist, "Talking about these things between good buddies, here, my pecs are also here for you to lean on."

Su Wan thumped his chest muscles, or rather caressed might be more accurate.

She pursed her lips and went silent for a few seconds before continuing in a slightly raised voice, "I suddenly realized that anyway, I’ll always be your childhood sweetheart, inseparable from you."

Lin Shuang poked at her dimple. "You’re still worried about this? After everything, do you think we can still be separated?"

He picked up the empty bottle, raised it to the vast starry sky overhead, and then tapped her forehead.

"Wanwan, can you imagine what our lives would be like without each other?"

From when we began creating memories in this world, there have been fragments left by each other in almost every day of our lives.

From holding hands learning to walk and talk, to horsing around on the way to school, to when our parents passed away, she kept vigil with him, and he wept silently in her arms.

"We’ll always be together, isn’t that a given?"

"I suddenly feel so silly for getting tangled up over this kind of thing..."

Su Wan grabbed the empty bottle, gestured with it towards Lin Shuang. "Otherwise, I’ll knock you with this, so you forget everything about tonight."

"You’ve come all this way, where’s the cheesy speech you prepared? Come on, let’s hear it, Wanwan!"

Su Wan pushed his face away with the bottle, "Dream on! Everything’s possible in dreams!"

Lin Shuang confiscated the bottle. "So, what’s the next step? Keep stargazing? This place is really not bad."

Su Wan pursed her lips, mumbling, "...Since you’ve already come, let’s give your good buddy a break..."

"Huh? What are you mumbling about?"

Under the gentle flow of starlight, Lin Shuang saw his childhood sweetheart’s lips, looking like a juicy slice of watermelon.

Pink and tender, just unsure how sweet.

Su Wan pulled out a piece of candy from her pocket, and flaunted it to Lin Shuang.

"Lin Dasha, remember this?"

It was a watermelon-flavored candy, not only did it taste like watermelon, it even looked like one, with its pink flesh and a touch of green rind, and even a few black sesame seeds dotting it as watermelon seeds.

As kids, Lin Shuang and Su Wan really loved these things.

"Of course, I remember."

"When we were kids, we picked up nickels and dimes on the rooftop and bought lots of these candies to eat."

"Good thing there wasn’t much money up there, or we’d have definitely ended up with cavities."

Su Wan leaned against his chest, slowly peeling off the candy wrapper.

"Once, I had the candy in my mouth and you still snatched it away from me, remember that?"

"I have a vague recollection."

"I hold grudges, you know..."

Su Wan placed the watermelon candy in Lin Shuang’s mouth, her voice becoming as sweet as sugar which couldn’t melt away.

"Now... it’s time for revenge... to take it back..."

She wrapped her arms around his neck, her whole body collapsing softly into his embrace.

And bit his lips.

Finally, Lin Shuang found out whether this slice of watermelon was sweet or not.

He held her waist, pressed down on her head, and played hide and seek with the watermelon candy in her mouth.

But the space was too small; there was nowhere to hide.

Still, she managed to snatch the candy away.

She cracked open the candy and shared it with him.

Still a candy that could burst with juice, the heart’s liquid burst inside their mouths, transferred.

Filling every corner.

They were both gluttonous, greedily scraping every inch.

Until the candy was completely eaten, until it was hard to breathe.

Only then did Su Wan push his face away, collapsing in his arms.

"Phew... thanks for the hospitality..."

"Good buddy... and you say this... let’s have another one..."

"Mmm..."
