Chapter 57 - 057 Han Xi was really scared.

Chapter 57: Chapter 057 Han Xi was really scared.

She was most afraid of cats, and now what lay before her was a blood-stained dead cat.

It was not until the doorbell rang again that Han Xi stumbled to her feet, her hand on the doorknob shaking uncontrollably.

When she opened the door, Han Xi fell straight into Lu Jinghan’s arms: "Xiao Xi....."

Lu Jinghan saw the dead cat on the floor, his eyes darkened as he carried Han Xi, walking towards the bedroom. Han Xi, with a pale face, clutched the collar of Lu Jinghan’s shirt, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Lu Jinghan entered the bedroom and closed the door with his foot, putting Han Xi down, but her hand clenched tightly onto Lu Jinghan, unwilling to let go.

Han Xi was genuinely frightened.

"Xiao Xi, what exactly happened?" Lu Jinghan encircled Han Xi again, wiping the tears from her face.

"Just now there was someone....a delivery man....when I opened it....a dead cat covered in blood." Han Xi trembled and couldn’t complete a single sentence.

Lu Jinghan intertwined his fingers with Han Xi’s cold hands, looking at her with heartache: "Don’t be afraid, I’m here, everything will be okay."

Lu Jinghan held Han Xi for an entire hour before her emotions slightly improved.

"You stay put in the bedroom, I’ll go clean up the living room."

Han Xi nodded, still very scared inside.

Lu Jinghan closed the bedroom door, took out his phone, and called Feng Yi, asking him to look into this matter.

After hanging up, he went to the living room to dispose of the dead cat on the floor, mopped the floor several times until there was no blood left, then went to the bathroom to wash his hands thoroughly.

When Lu Jinghan pushed open the bedroom door, Han Xi’s curled up body was still shivering, the images of the cat corpses lingering in her mind.

Lu Jinghan looked at Han Xi with heartache, feeling a twinge in his heart.

"Don’t worry, I have someone investigating it."

Han Xi nodded, her hands gripping Lu Jinghan’s clothes tightly.

They stayed like this until nightfall, and only then did Lu Jinghan slowly speak: "I’ll make you something to eat, what do you want?"

"I don’t feel like eating, please don’t leave, okay?"

Han Xi was overwhelmed with thoughts of the dead cat, finding it nauseating and wanting to vomit, unable to eat anything.

"I’m not leaving, not going anywhere." Lu Jinghan gently stroked Han Xi’s hair, soothing her as if she were a child.

Han Xi couldn’t figure out who she might have offended to be threatened in such a cruel manner. If it was Han Yaxin and her daughter, they wouldn’t need to do something like this.

Thinking about it made Han Xi’s head feel like it was going to explode, and without any clue, she drifted off to sleep.

Listening to Han Xi’s breathing gradually become steady, Lu Jinghan carefully laid her head on the pillow. He was about to get up when Han Xi grasped his palm tightly, murmuring with a furrowed brow: "Don’t leave, so much blood....so many cats....."

Under the light, Lu Jinghan’s dark eyes gazed affectionately at Han Xi, his large hand holding Han Xi’s small hand: "I’m not leaving, don’t be afraid."

Sitting on the table, the phone suddenly rang; Lu Jinghan picked it up and pressed the answer button, lowering his voice: "Did you find out?"

On the other end, Feng Yi explained the situation briefly. Lu Jinghan’s deep brow carried a chilling aura, his side profile tense.

......

The next morning, when Han Xi awoke, Lu Jinghan was no longer in the bedroom. She got out of bed and walked to the door, hesitating for a long time with her hand on the doorknob before slowly opening it. Every step she took towards the living room, the bloody scenes in her mind became clearer.
