Chapter 56: Chapter 056: The Bloody Dead Cat That was "Dismembered

Lu Jinghan stood beside the window smoking two cigarettes before Han Xi woke up. She got up from the sofa, saw the tall figure by the window, and smiled: "When did you get here?"

Hearing the voice, Lu Jinghan stubbed out his cigarette, turned around, and smiled indulgently: "I came a long time ago, but seeing you were still asleep, I didn’t wake you."

Lu Jinghan strode over to the sofa and pulled Han Xi into his arms: "What time did you go to sleep last night?"

Han Xi leaned against his solid chest, wrapping her arms around Lu Jinghan’s slim waist, breathing in the faint scent of his hormones.

"Around two or three o’clock. I’m hungry. Did you bring breakfast?"

"I did. Go freshen up first and then come eat." Lu Jinghan loosened his arms around Han Xi, signaling her to hurry.

Han Xi put on her shoes and jogged over to the sink, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and combed her messy hair before going over to eat breakfast.

"I’m going to check on the patient from last night’s surgery. If everything is normal, I can go home and rest."

"Okay, I’ll go home with you later."

Han Xi took a sip of the porridge in her bowl and joked, "Mr. Lu is so busy, you probably won’t have time to accompany me."

Lu Jinghan raised a hand to pinch her nose and said, "Girlfriend is more important than work."

Han Xi’s beautiful and clean eyebrows were full of smiles, feeling sweet inside.

Shakespeare once said, women fall in love with their ears, and that’s absolutely true.

After eating, Lu Jinghan cleared the table, and Han Xi went to the intensive care unit to check on the patient. After confirming all the indicators were normal, she went home with Lu Jinghan.

Back home, Han Xi was still very sleepy, her head foggy. She said she wanted to sleep, so Lu Jinghan went off to work.

In the bathroom, she took a warm shower and changed into comfortable cotton pajamas before falling asleep on the bed.

Han Xi slept until about two in the afternoon before waking up. She got out of bed, went to the kitchen to drink a glass of water, and picked up her phone to send Lu Jinghan a WeChat message [I’m awake...]

In the morning, when Lu Jinghan left, he repeatedly reminded Han Xi to let him know as soon as she woke up.

At that moment, Lu Jinghan was in a meeting room but, upon seeing Han Xi’s message, his deep and handsome features broke into a smile. He quickly typed a few words on his phone and sent them.

[Wait for me, I’ll be there soon.]

After closing his phone, Lu Jinghan asked Feng Yi to continue the meeting for him, then got up and left the meeting room.

No one else knew what their President Lu was up to, but Feng Yi immediately guessed he was off running eagerly to see Doctor Han.

.....

Having woken up and feeling hungry, Han Xi went to the kitchen and made herself a bowl of tomato and egg noodles, then sat on the sofa eating while watching drama series.

When she heard the doorbell, she assumed it was Lu Jinghan. She opened the door to find a delivery man in a uniform.

"Is this Miss Han Xi?"

Han Xi nodded: "Yes, that’s me."

"This is your delivery. Please sign for it." The delivery man handed a pen to Han Xi.

Han Xi couldn’t remember ordering anything, but she still took the pen and signed her name on the delivery receipt.

After closing the door, Han Xi used a small knife to cut the tape on the cardboard box and opened it.

"Ah...." Han Xi dropped the box from her hands, her whole body trembling as she curled up, cold sweat breaking out down her spine.

She didn’t dare look at the bloody and dismembered dead cat scattered on the ground, frozen in fear, tears streaming down her face.
