Chapter 80: Heal Him

Chapter 80: Heal Him

"What did you do, husband?" Elys asked the prince for the second time around.

Her voice came out unsteady and she looked as if she saw something terrible flash in front of her eyes. She was sweating hard, her heart beating so fast even someone who didn’t have a heightened sense of hearing like Aleksander would have heard.

Sure enough, the prince had seen the princess pretend to have her shit together in a brave act before. But this time around, it was a whole lot different.

"I gave him a vision," Aleksander replied to the princess.

"Ah... I see," the princess said without a hint of emotion in them.

It was like she was just answering him mechanically.

They watched Teo’s body tremble as his weapon fell to the ground after miscalculating if the bastard prince was still unconscious as of the moment. They couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph, and a small smirk and chuckle rose from them.

The prince listened in on her heartbeat. It was slowly steadying into a normal pace, so much that it bothered him how fast she could calm herself after that intense hammering of her heart.

What kind of past did she really have that made her like this in the first place?

Now that the prince was looking at her more, Aleksander couldn’t help but feel a tug of curiosity in him. Before he knew it, Prince Aleksander started to speculate where she came from, her lineage, the childhood she came from that shaped her into someone so strong.

The prince was slowly becoming invested in the princess.

Aleksander couldn’t get it out of his mind that he literally wanted to ask her about it on the spot, but his questions were set aside when Elys spoke to him again.

"Can you walk by yourself?" Elys asked, "I can’t carry you forever. That would just make me a martyr for someone who doesn’t give much care at all."

"Of course, I can!" Aleksander said with conviction, his pride slightly bruised by the question.

Why did she have to put it that way? Did he really burden her to say that she was becoming a martyr for him?

It took the prince several seconds on end before he realized his arm was swung around Elys. Her hand was full as well. One held his arm, while the other hand was clutching on his pants belt so he wouldn’t slide down as she pushed herself to walk away before Teo appeared.

"Go on then," the princess challenged him. "You seem pretty sure of yourself that I would most certainly feel bad if I don’t oblige."

Aleksander’s silver eyes were still tired from his earlier fiasco, but he held Elys’ stare as much as possible.

The prince stepped away from Elys, but found his knees weak as they lost strength and he tripped sideways, away from his wife. Princess Elysianne caught him right in the nick of time, an awkward silence blooming between the two of them.

"This should be the other way around," the princess sighed, rubbing her temples.

"Fuck," the prince muttered under his breath.

He felt his whole face turn hot, the feeling creeping down until the back of his neck.

Aleksander blushed furiously as he cursed himself for losing a lot of strength. It was embarrassing to let people see him weak, but all the more did it feel wrong for Elys to be the one helping him.

"I don’t need help," the prince said as he reached for the wall to keep him from falling down.

"Said someone who lost control of himself with the influence of magical words," Elys crossed her arms in irritation.

The princess noted Teo was starting to wake out of his little vision care of Prince Aleksander, and she had to nudge the prince.

"Strengthen your vision for Teo," Elys told the prince, her voice slightly rising into a more commanding than the usual tone. "He is clearly slipping away."

"Hold on for a while, I just came out of a very strong spell too," Aleksander scowled, "he will be fine for a few minutes. Let me breathe."

"Should I just kill him then?" Elys asked, "that would be a much better solution seeing that you can’t keep the vision going for more than perhaps... five minutes?"

Aleksander shook his head vigorously, "No! Teo will need to live. I want to interrogate that bastard."

The princess looked at Aleksander struggle to keep himself upright. It was irritating, as well as satisfying in a sense. Several minutes passed by, and he still struggled.

Elysianne bit her lips. She was contemplating on the pros and cons of doing what slipped into her mind a while back. Would it be more advantageous to kill Teo instead?

Teo was moving more and more, the vision that Aleksander gave him losing its powers while the prince tried to recover, licking his wounds and trying to heal himself despite being low in magic himself.

"Fuck it," Elys said.

She made up her mind – she was going to heal Aleksander.

"What are you going to do?" Aleksander’s eyes widened as Elys moved too close and started unbuttoning his shirt.

"Shut up," the princess snapped at him, placing her palm to his chest.

Elys closed her eyes, and concentrated hard. She knew how to channel magic from her surroundings, and the technique in itself wasn’t that much a problem aside from the fact that it was terribly taxing to the mind and body.

In fact, it was much safer than using her own magic and spells.

"How long have you used magic?" Aleksander asked her.

The princess didn’t reply.

The prince felt her hands turn warm, a soft glow coming out of the part where her palm touched his chest. Aleksander felt revitalized, a sudden surge of energy rushing towards him.

The light from Elys’ hand started to glow intensely, her palm turning scalding hot. She withdrew her hand from Aleksander, her eyes a bit shaky as she stopped healing him.

She did as much as she could before losing control - that was enough for the time being.
